How To Get Your Christian Louboutin Shoes To Fit
I know first hand that getting the right Christian Louboutin shoes is a task in itself and the sizing and fit is an even bigger task. I have learned a few tricks over the months from the lovely ladies of TPF and through trial and error myself. I thought I would make a little blog post to help those of you fit your Louboutin shoes if they are too tight, too small, they slip off your feet etc…
The Sock Trick – For Louboutin’s that are too tight
So if your Louboutin shoes are too tight and they pinch your feet, there are a couple of things you can try. Most shoes need breaking in but with Louboutin shoes he often makes the toe box very narrow and tight which is a little bit painful sometimes. One method you can try is the sock trick; you can wear your shoes while wearing socks to try and stretch out the leather/suede.
Do this while you are at home of course, otherwise you might look a little silly lol. It does work, I promise it does. I have had to do it on a few pairs because I, like most people, have one foot a little bit bigger than the other and I always need a little more room in one shoe, so I put 2 socks on my foot and stuff my foot into the shoe and wear it around for ages until it gives in.
There is also leather stretcher spray that you can spray on the inside of the shoes and wear them to make them stretch. The only thing with this method is I don’t find it very reliable because it takes a long time for the spray to work.
That’s my opinion, it might work well for others but it’s also really potent in smell and I can’t really tolerate that as I am sensitive to strong smells, especially harsh chemical smells like that so I definitely recommend the sock trick.
I’ve heard about heating the shoes with a hair dryer to make them easier to stretch, but I wouldn’t recommend it as it can damage the shoes sometimes, especially if they are patent. It’s very risky on such expensive shoes!
Heel Grips – For Louboutin’s that are too big
Now if your Louboutin shoes are too big, there are some padding options you can try. There are foam heel grips which pad out the back of the shoe pretty well, you can get them really cheap and they work quite well. There are also foot petals which you can put on the insole at the front so it pushes the ball of your foot back a bit to lessen the gap at the heel (click on the banner for Foot Petals below to check out their range).
If the slingback is too big, a good cobbler can easily shorten it by taking some of the elastic out and re-attaching it. Lots of ladies have had this done with great results. The same goes for the mary jane straps, those can be shortened or made bigger by a good cobbler.
Hollywood Tape Strips – For Louboutin’s that fit but slip off your feet
If your shoes slip off of your feet when you walk like they do for me, then there are ways of stopping it. It’s such a hassle! I know because I had it for so long and it made walking in my shoes really hard. Heel grips didn’t help this issue either. The only thing that I think works very well is double sided tape.
I put Hollywood Fashion Tape strips on the inside of the heel of the shoe and then put my foot in it and press the heel of the shoe firm to the heel of my foot and it sticks. You can then walk in your shoes with out them slipping off! It’s really amazing but it is a hassle to do this all the time. I find the tape only works for 1 wear or 2 shorter wears and then you need to replace it.
I hope all of this information helps you in some way. If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to leave a comment and I will reply as soon as I can.
Which Louboutin shoes stretch the most
As an update, I wanted to say that I have had the best experience stretching my Christian Louboutin shoes when they are leather. Patent leather takes a little longer to stretch out and suede takes even longer again, so you definitely have to be patient. Please also take a look at the comments below as there are hundreds from all of you lovely readers asking questions about your Louboutins, so you never know, you might find some really useful information there too!
Louboutin sizing & fitting advice
I do still recommend that if your shoes are much too tight and incredibly painful to walk in, sizing up is the best option. I’ve tried myself to stretch out incredibly painful shoes and it just takes too long and never gets to the point where I’m happy. I have a pair of Pigalle 85mm heels in Coral which are a 39.5 and they crush my feet really badly, however I purchased the Pigalle 100mm in Black in a 40, and they fit much better. They are slightly loose at the back, but that’s much more tolerable than the painful toes! You can see them below. Just don’t despair if your shoes are much too tight, stretching them will often work, but if it doesn’t, definitely exchange them until you get it right! They are worth it!

Hi Lorna
I’m really looking forward to buy a pair of pigalle 100 in vernis but I have a wide foot and I don’t own any CL yet so because I want to order them online from Paris I can’t try them on since where I live there’s no retailers store for loubotine , do you think it’s suitable for a wide foot and if I’m a regular size 6-6 1/2 what size shoe should I get?
Tx?
Author
Sorry, I’m not 100% sure on the American sizing conversion and Pigalle generally doesn’t work for wide feet as it can be extremely painful. You might better with the Simple pump 🙂
Lorna- this looks like the post is 4 years old. I buy mine at Neimans because their staff fits you for them. They’re by far the most knowledgeable about fit. They will also put the rubber red soles just under toes do 25$!!! I did that to the first pair because I wanted to wear them every day and they look awesome. If you haven’t found them yet call Neimans – pa I live in DFW metroplex -Texas. Luck!
Every style fits different. I wouldn’t purchase without trying them on
Hi!! I’m wanting to by my first CL’s really bad. I have pretty wide feet so I’m worried I won’t fit in any or they will look awful. I usually wear a 7.5 to 8 and his sizing confuses me! Can you help?
Author
Sorry, the sizing is extremely tricky as they all run differently and I’m not too familiar with American sizing. The bet bet is to try them on somewhere and go for a rounded toe version of his, like the Simple pump. Wide feet don’t work well in the narrow styles.
Hello Lorna, I know this post is very old but I’m hoping you can help me. I bought a pair of my first CL heels and they are a it’s too tight around the ankles (there is an ankle strap) and around my toes but over all the size it’s self fits (7.5 us or 37.5 CL size) I got them second hand because I can’t afford full price so returning them unfortunately is not an option. Would you recommend trying the sock method or taking it to a shoemaker to try and see if they can stretch it? Or should I just give up and try to resell them?Thank you!
A leather shop can punch another hole for the strap around the ankle and stretch them. The Leather Spa in New York can send them via post back to you! But maybe it’s best try to sell them second hand, and start a fund to buy a pair that fits. Sometimes shoes we love just aren’t a great fit for our feet and we have to have a little inner cry and move on until we find the right size that won’t hurt our feet, knees, back, and mar and ruin our toes. I just had to have my inner temper tantrum over the classic Chanel pump. Not only did they look cheap to me, they were not at all comfortable or attractive on my feet. I’d been dying for those Chanel pumps for years! They probably would have softened up, but guess what? The Ferragamo shoes I bought instead fit like gloves in the shop, needed zero softening, and looked great! You won’t get your money’s worth out of shoes that hurt or that you can’t wear as often as you’d like. My general rule is that if it hurts in the store, or has some annoying aspect in the store, it will only be worse later. It takes patience, and maybe several seasons to find the best fit but you work really hard for your money, so don’t throw it away on compromises like a crazy color because it is on sale or second hand (lots of fakes out there).
I am the same size. I bought the 85mm heels in Black leather which are a 39.5, they were tight, so I tried the 40 they were too loose in the heel. I went bank to
The first pair. Put on a thick pair of socks, stuffed my feet in the shoes and walked around my house 30 mins at a time all weekend. My toenails were so sore from the pressure., honestly I clipped my toe nails and it made a huge difference. So much for my $55 pedicure! Anyways, after two days of torture they fit! Now will I walk down 5th Ave for blocks —-not yet, but I can wear them in the office for about 4 hours, then I gotta take a break before the next four. Why does CL just make a wider toe box?
Keep in mind that Louboutin has said the shoes are about the look, and that they’re not supposed to be comfortable. The narrow toe box is quite deliberate, in order to achieve that sexy toe cleavage. The masochism is part of the point. In your case, I think you made exactly the right decision. That’s exactly where I was with my So Kate 120s. I’m normally a 9 and the 39 was already pinching the toes a bit, but it was annoying to have the heel popping out when I walked, so I downsized to 38.5, and suffered for two weeks. But it was worth it. At the end of the two weeks, my toe cleavage looked really cool/kinky, even though I could walk without tears, — mostly. The clear outline of my toes in the now-somewhat-stretched toe box was an eloquent witness of suffering to be beautiful, and it’s obvious to me that’s the look Louboutin wanted!
The bottom line is that if the size 40 was too big for you, they will ALWAYS be too big for you. On the other hand, while the 39.5 may be torture for you at first, if you persist, as you did, you will find they will become more bearable. That’s particular so because Louboutin’s nappa leather is among the softest and most malleable of any high heel I’ve ever worn. As you’ve probably learned, you really have to be persistent. I commend you for wearing them 30 minutes at a time. You’ll find that if you keep that up for another week, 30 minutes a day at home and REALLY WALK (don’t just sit), around the house, up and down stairs, around the block, etc., they will eventually become bearable for even more than the 4 hours. Of course, with that kind of pointy toe, comfort is a relative term, and they will always sting and burn a little, but at least, once they’re broken in, you can keep the pain down to a dull roar, — most of the time.
I bought my Louboutin’s about 3 months ago – I bought a half size up because I heard they “run small”. In the store they seemed to fit ok. After my first night wearing them out, I come to find out they feel much too small! I’m a bit upset that the people at the store didn’t help me find the best fit with such an expensive shoe 🙁 I could try the sock trick, but I bought satin slingbacks, and I’m not sure there’s a way to stretch satin…any ideas?!
Hi Terri 🙂 Where do they feel too small? Is it in the toes?
I know this is 10 years ago, but this is very true… they always feel better in the store, because of the ultra plush carpeting, then you get them home even at 1/2 bigger and at the urging of the sales people and they are not fitting properly. It took me at least 3 trips to be happy with a pair of shoes I got, it would have been 2, but the sales people were pushy and convinced me to keep the shoe and they stretched it. I called customer service and then call the store back and had to put my foot down and let them know I needed to come back to get a 1/2 size bigger than the 1/2 size up I originally go, going up a full size, although that meant one of the shoes would be flipping off my feet and I needed a heel grip. Well, the day I went in I called ahead and got a totally different style, but really happy now. You definitely have to read up on new styles, call customer service and walk around the store, but once you find your fit in a certain style it works out for the future!
Feet often swell up by the end of the night making shoes a bit harder to handle when they fit fine in store. This has happened to me so many times. It got to the point where i carry foldable flats for when i need a break.
Though, this brand isn’t ever going to he super comfy. This is beauty over comfort 1000% I’m so sorry about your tootsies, honey ):
Oh! it’s work
Hi, I came across your site when I was looking for ways to ‘fit’ my Louboutin. I bought my first pair yesterday and I didn’t know the Italy sizing was a whole size off! I’m a normal US size 6 and that’s usually a 37. The lady told me to purchase 36.5 which would fit. The left one fits fine with a little gap back at the heel but the right has a much bigger gap. I’m going to try your double sided tape method. Is Hollywood tape the only type that works or can I use any double sided tape? I hope it works…they are so darn sexy!
Hi Tiffany! If you have that much of a gap I would recommend getting a size down, Louboutin’s stretch out a lot and they will only get bigger with wear. Can you fit your finger in between the gap? Also, Hollywood tape works best as it’s already in the strips so you don’t have to cut. It’s designed to stick to skin. I haven’t tried any other double sided tape.
Lorna- – I got loubs for Christmas that i can fit my finger loosely in the heel area, do I need to size down half size or full size
Hello, I bought 5.5 inch louboutins with a 1.5 inch platform and the toe box is extremely short and my toes get squeezed when wearing them and they hurt alot! Do you think the sock method will work best? Please give any suggustions if you have any! thank you
Hi Giselle, which style did you buy? It depends on the shoe shape. What’s its name?
Lady Peep?
The bianca style
Oh I love the Bianca! Where did you get them from? Did you get a nice colour? The sock trick definitely works for the Bianca if you got your correct size 🙂
Oh and by the way How many Louboutins do you own? I only own 12. For any references christina aguilera owns the same pair I own which is the bianca closed toe pump.
I own the Bianca in the black patent Since it was such a nice style I wanted it to match with everything I owned clothing wise. I bought them at Barney’s New York.
You are lucky to have those ones 🙂 I had the Bianca in Peacock but I returned them because I wouldn’t wear them. The toe box is tight though I know, it’s squashy but if you wear them around for a long time with the socks, it really does help a lot. I have about 12 pairs as well 🙂
hey my experience with louboutins suck. i totally have one pair of bianca’s that are a 37.5 & they are perfect. but i just got a pair that feels too small. its called open lips. & i have a wedding sunday & would love to wear them. any help? do you think the sock thing would work?
The open lips ones are gorgeous! I love those. Did you get the black suede? You should try the sock trick if they are too tight in the toes 🙂
i got the black leather. but i got them as a gift & they were a size 37 instead of 37.5 & it was too late cause they only give you 14 days to exchange/return them. thank you
If they are leather then you have a good chance of stretching them out 🙂 Good luck!
Help!! I ordered the Rolando in black and just got them in the mail today. They are perfect except for it has a short toe box and my toes show a little bit, is this normal? They are also a little tight in the toe area. Should I return them or will the toe are give a little bit. This is my first pair of CLs and I really want to keep them, but I cannot afford to spend over $700 on some shoes that will hurt my feet.
Ohh where did you manage to find the black Rolando? I haven’t seen those around in a while. Louboutin toe boxes are always short so you do get ‘toe cleavage’ as it’s called. The Rolando is definitely a painful shoe, I ended up letting mine go because of how tight they were on me.
I ordered it off of the Neiman Marcus website. So in other words I should return it and get another shoe?
Do you think you can put up with the pain? Shoes can stretch out if you are willing to put in hours or pain and wearing them around home for a long time but the Rolando is a very painful shoe in the toe box. I think it depends on how you feel about them, if it’s too much pain then maybe another shoe might be more suited to you. You could try the Bianca? That has a rounder toe and is gorgeous!
Hi! I have a pair of the beige patent biancas (platform). They are so lovely but the salesman told me they would stretch a lot. When I wear them for an hour they do stretch out and the acutal shoe does fit but the right toebox is horrendously painful. Will they continue to stretch? I am just hoping they do
I find the toe box is the last place that stretches out when you wear shoes. The heel and the sides stretch out first. You might need to put a sock on your toes area and wear them with that. Don’t wear the sock on the whole foot though because that will stretch out the whole shoe, only on the toe area, like put it on and then fold it back on itself so the opening is at the end of your toes. Does that make sense? That will make a double layer of sock which should stretch them out nicely 🙂
If the shoe fits other than in the toe area, then that is indeed the right size. That’s the way they’re supposed to fit. The toe is supposed to squeeze and be very tight; that’s the look. If it’s Nappa leather, constant daily wear for an hour or so for a few weeks will stretch them out so they become bearable after a while. I know. I made the mistake of sizing up with a pair of So Kates to spare my poor tootsies. Boy, was that a mistake. Within a week the shoes were falling off my feet and I could no longer walk comfortably in them. And this was while the toe STILL felt tight! So I bit the bullet and went down a half-size and really suffered for a few weeks while I wore them religiously every day at home. And eventually they became bearable and I could wear them for a few hours before my toes had had enough.
Hi! I just bought a pair of lady peeps in black leather! I bought them in 36s.. they are a bit too tight and I think if I get the 36.5s, it would be too big on me.. I’ve worn them for about half an hour at home and they are painful.. especially on the toe box! Will the sock trick work on this? And what are your thoughts on the lady peeps?
Hoping to hear from you soon!!!! 🙂
Oh the Lady Peep is amazing! Did you get the slingback or the normal back? I think the sock trick might work on them, you can always try it 🙂 No harm in trying right? How do they fit at your heel? Are they really painful at the heel too?
I have the decollete in black patent. the right foot is extremely painful in my toe area. My middle toes are folding because i need more room. What method is best?
Oh wow if they are folding I am not sure if the sock method would work for that, that seems very small 🙁
I used my lady peeps for the first time last night. We went to the club and I had them on for 3 hours.. dancing and standing all the time.. They are not the most comfortable shoes but not the most horribly painful shoes either! I used your sock trick for a day and I made sure I prepped my toes with blister pads which I bought from Target.. and voila.. my feet survived in them! Haha I love them! Sexy and classy. And I got the normal black, not the sling back. And no they do not hurt my heels at all 🙂
I’m thinking for my next purchase.. the Lady Daf, Daffodils, OR Biancas in nude patent.. What are your thoughts?
That’s great you never got any blisters or too much pain from them 🙂 Really great! I wish I could say the same sometimes! As for the next shoe, the Dafs are really really high and I find the platform too high but the Bianca is amazing! Especially in nude, it’s gorgeous! I would say go with that one 🙂
Hi Lorna,
I bought the black leather 90MM Prorata Pumps a couple of days ago, for work. My size is usually 39 or 38 depending on the shoe.
When I tried the 38 at the store, the left shoe kept coming off when I was walking, so the assistant told me to get the 37.5. When I try the shoes now, they don’t come off, but the pain on my little toes is so great that I want to burst into tears! The problem is that my toes are extremely squeezed at the front, its like they dont have any space to breathe and I don’t know if that’s normal – I will try to put on a fat sock but I don’t see how it will fit.
I didn’t expect to feel so much pain with this high quality shoes and now im starting to regret the £470 I spent.
I bought these shoes for work – does this mean suffering for 7 hours a day or do you think I have a chance?
Hi Andrea! Did you have any space in the back of the shoe between your heel and the back of the shoe when you tried the 38? If the pain is so bad it’s making you cry then I don’t think it will be tolerable actually, I don’t believe they will stretch out enough to get rid of the pain. If you had no space when you tried the 38, I would say then that would be a better size for you and the reason it could be slipping off would be like me, you have a curved heel shape so it will slip out of the shoe because it’s a soft shoe, in which case you might need to try the tape trick 🙂
actually the pain does not make me cry – its just a bit overwhelming on my two little toes, and im just wondering if its going to go away..
The 38 did have a bit of space on the left foot..
You could try out the sock trick for a while, perhaps if you can fit it, put 2 socks on and wear them around the house a lot if you can put up with the pain. See if that works. You can tell if they are going to stretch or not within the first hour really 🙂

TPF is The Purse Forum 🙂
I have the Jenny pump peep toe and wore them for the first time last night….ouch ouch ouch!! I got a huge blister on my foot and my toes were very squashed, the toe box is v v narrow, will try your sock tip, hope it works….will let you know :0)
Hi Lorna. Help help help!! My boyfriend bought me a pair of pigalles. The black patent ones. I kept reading I should go up a size as they came up small. I ordered a 39.5. i am a 39 in all other heels. They are too big!! And silly me wore them up and down the garden path so now they wont take them back. I cant let me know they are too big and I cant get his £80 back!!! I need advice of how to make them fit. I got the pads to put at the back of my ankles but they have made no difference!
Author
Hi Mel! How did you manage to find them for 80? Where did you get them from?
Oh gosh! sorry! hahahaha no £380!!! hahaha. I have tried those pads that sit in the shoe at the back but they still slip off!
Author
Oh ok lol! How much of a gap do you have between your heel and the back of the shoe? How many fingers can you fit in there?
my little finger. I am really panicking I am fighting a losing battle. :o(
Author
Oh your little finger is not so bad, I was thinking you were going to say way more than that, have you tried the padded heel grips like I said or a different type of heel grip? Have you also tried using the double sided tape? It’s such a shame you can’t return them 🙁 If none of these suggestions work then I wouldn’t know what to say as they are obviously too big for you 🙁
Hi Lorna,
Thanks for the helpful tips above! Have you tried the sock trick on a pair of satin louboutins before? And if you have, has it worked? My new VPs are a little narrow around the toes but I’ve heard that satin CLs will stretch over time so I’m hesitant about exchanging them for the next half size up. TIA!
Author
Hi Lily, I don’t own any satin CL’s actually, I only have patent and normal leather or suede, I don’t have any different material. I think satin should stretch though, I’m not sure if it will stretch as much as leather because it’s not as porous I don’t think. I’m sorry I don’t have any experience with the satin ones 🙁 You could try it around the house for a while and if you feel that it’s not working, then exchange?
Hi! I have the Satin VP’s too, and mine are a little tight in the toe. I was wondering if you found a method that worked for yours?
Hi! I just bought my CL’s about a month or so ago and I wore them out one time to a club and they killed me! my toes got squished and the shoes seem to dip down on the sides toward the toes so it rubbed up against the side of my foot and left they narly blisters. Mine are the black patin leather peep toe 150mm. Should i try the sock trick? anything to help the side blisters?? Thanks so much <3
Author
Since you wore them out already and can’t return them I would say do anything possible, definitely try the sock trick, maybe try two pairs of socks if you can fit your feet in the shoes with them on 🙂 I hope something works for you! So many people have problems with CL’s because he makes them so narrow and tight in the toe box 🙁
Hi Lorna, your blog is very informative and useful. Where can I buy the heel grips? I have a pair of Bianca Louboutins that slip a bit and this would fix the problem. Thank you!
Author
Hey! I bought these on eBay 🙂
Hi Lorna, your blog is so so helpful! I recently bought a pair of black patent Helmour in 35.5 (I already bought them half a size smaller since they run small), but it’s still a little too big! And the fact that it is an asymmetrical d’orsay means it’s even harder to get it to fit proper. I tried foam insoles which didn’t work much, and also tried gel insoles that made it too tight! Sobs… Would you have any advice for me?
Author
Have you tried the foam heel grips instead of insoles? Also, how big are they? What sort of gap is between your heel and the back of the shoe?
Hi Lorna,
Let me start by saying how happy I am to see that there is a place where we can get so many usefull advices on CL shoes 🙂
I’m interested in purchasing the Helmour glitter pumps for my wedding day, but since I can’t find them in store to try them on, I need to order them online. So, I don’t really know how is the sizing on that model. Do you have any information on that?
I have the feeling that they run small in size… I usually wear size US 11, or EU 41, but I owe a pair of CL Toboggan and I had to buy them in EU 41,5, and the Helmour are quite similar in model with the Toboggan.
So, what would you advice me? In which size should I buy the Helmour?
Author
Hey! Sorry, I haven’t ever tried the Helmour, I think they are an older style as they don’t seem to be available most places unless you go somewhere like eBay. Where did you manage to find them?
Hi Lorna, thanks for your speedy reply! I have space of about my little finger between my heel and the back of the shoe. would you think the heel grip might work better? I’m a little hesitant to stick the heel grip there since the back of the shoe is so soft & comfy!
The insoles I tried are the half-sized ones! Thanks Lorna
Author
Yeah I know the backs of his shoes are really soft aren’t they? You could try just places one of the foam heel grips there and putting your foot in it to see, don’t stick it on just place it. You could get an idea if that would make the size better. It’s hard when shoes are too big though, they constantly slip off of your feet 🙁 What about foot petals? I think those are designed to push the foot back? 🙂
I’ve yet to try foot petals though. I’ll try out both pieces of your advice (heel grip & foot petals) and hope for the best. Thanks so much for all your help, Lorna!
Author
No problem, I really hope something works for you! Is there no option to return them for a smaller size?
Well… I could return them, but seems like the smaller size is out of stock!! So I’d rather have them bigger than none at all!! 😀
Author
Good point! Where did you manage to find them? 🙂
Hi Horna! I just bought Pigalle, 10 cm. They fit okey, but the toearea are rrreally tight. I bought them one size smaller than normally because i have heard they stretch. Do you think this model will??? Thanks 🙂 /nicole
Author
Hi 🙂 What material did you get? Normal or patent leather? And how tight is it? 🙂
Hi I know this is old. I wouldn’t put heat (hair dryer) on shoes. But they do recommend filling a plastic bags with some water and putting them in the toe. The water expands when it freezes (make sure bag is sturdy, so maybe use two ziplocs (one to hold the other)?? Alternatively, cobblers will stretch shoes for you, just make sure you leave them there for at LEAST 3 full days!!!
I got them from Neiman Marcus! 😀
Author
Oh yeah they seem to sell out quite quickly on there! 🙂
Yes indeed! NM sells out really fast!!
Anyway, I tried cutting my gel insoles into a smaller shape to try before I get the foot petals, and they seem to work better. Bought heel grips to try, but doesn’t seem as good though. I guess I know which works better now. Thanks so much for your awesome advice, Lorna!
Author
I’m glad things worked out for you!! I’d love to see how they look!
Thanks again, Lorna! I can’t wait to wear them too!
Hi Lorna, Ive just bought the simple pump 120mm in patent in a 36. The assistant said it was better to get them than the 36.5 as she said they would stretch even though i felt they were more comfortable so I went with the 36. The left is stlll tight on the toe box – Ive been doing the sock trick for a few hours now but Im not sure whether to change for the 36.5 – its not as if I will wear them for work so don’t know if they will stretch enough. Help I have 7 days to decide!
Author
Hey Emma, how often do you think you will wear them? How does the shoe fit on the bottom of your foot? If it fits perfectly on the insole and it’s comfortable then it might be worth trying a double sock? If the bigger one fitted perfectly and comfortable too, not too big in the back and doesn’t slip off your feet, they might be a better option if you will only wear them a few times. It’s hard to stretch out Louboutins when you don’t wear them much, I know.
yeah I think you’re right – with the bigger size there was a little room at the back which might slip off with tights but i have a high instep so that can happen sometimes. My boyfriend said my feet looked squashed in them – but is that just the design? will a bigger half size be wider as well as longer?
Author
His designs make your feet look squashed most the time because he has tiny toe boxes and you end up with ‘toe cleavage’ as it’s called. I don’t think half a size would make much difference in the toe box, it might do a little bit but in my experience it doesn’t make that much difference, it just means your foot sits further back at the shoe but then it can slip off, I have slipping off issues too as you probably read. The Simple though is fairly rounded compared to his other styles like Pigalle etc. Are your toes touching the end?
Hi Lorna, I need your help!!
I am so pleased that i found this site – i thought I was all alone in the big world of painful feet and Louboutin!
Basically, I have just bought the fifi strass 100 ( i think – the sparkly ones) for my wedding and they KILL my feet! I am trying to wear them in before the big day, but I am worried about putting ball-of-foot padding in, as I think it will push my foot up…and the real pain is my big toe joint as the side of the shoe rests there…
Ideally I would like a pair of tights with an inbuilt foot cushion! I am worried about putting any padding near the joint area as you will see it.
Is there anything you can think of?! Also, I am worried about walking and slipping if I wear tights with them!
THANK YOU xx
Polly
Author
Hi Polly! Oh no, you are not the only one! Wow you have the crystal ones? They are amazing! Did you buy the normal crystal ones or the Volcano coloured ones? Have you tried wearing them with a sock for a while? To stretch out the toe box?
Hi Lorna, thank you for your reply! Yes they are the normal crystal ones in Augora (or something like that!) I love them. I got a much cheaper wedding dress than I thought, so figured splashing out on the shoes was a good idea considering I would wear them again!
I keep wearing them at night with socks on, and I think I will try and train my calves! But it is the area that they cut in on the joint of my big toe :-((
I tried the same in the pointy version and I could not even stand, they were cut so low. I guess with Loubous, it is a bit of a competition in terms of ‘whose feet can take it!’ ha ha.
I Would you recommend foot petals? xx
Author
Hi, they sound amazing! Do the shoes fit well or do they feel like they are too small? Do you have wider feet? I think you are having the same problem I have with my Pigalle, the toe box is really narrow and it cuts in on the side of the big toe but down a bit, I guess in that place where you would get bunions and it hurts. Is that what you mean? Since your shoes are strass, I don’t think they are going to stretch out much at all, they are covered in glue and crystals so it doesn’t leave much room for stretching unfortunately. Do you think you could go up a size? Foot petals would probably make the toe box tighter wouldn’t they? And the colour is aurora borealis it’s stunning! 🙂
Hi Lorna Emma again! I have to til tomorrow to change( or not )my simple pumps. I have been wearing them at home for the last 3 nights on and off the right seems fine but my left is still tight and my little toe seems bent over and i cant seem to stretch it Shall i go for the 36.5 ????? help again x
Author
Hi Emma! If your toe is bent over that sounds painful! Is there a way you can go to the store to exchange them but try the 36.5 on for a while to see if the toe box is any different? Wear them around the store and see how they feel?
thanks for your advice! I did just that and went for the 36.5 and am very happy. I cant believe though that the red soles aren’t actual red leather, having only gone 3 steps on the pavement I couldn’t believe how marked they were!Any advice on protecting them?
Author
Oh I know, they mark so easily, they do get ruined so quickly. There is unfortunately no way to save them unless you want to put a red rubber vibram on the bottom, you can have a cobbler put them on but then that covered the sole, there is no other way. I’m glad the 36.5 worked out though!
Hi, my husband is in Italy on a bussines trip and he wants to bring me a pair of Very Prive in black, I’m usually a size 36 in US, what size should he bring back? I heard the italian sizing is one size off?
Author
Hi, what shoes are you usually that size in? I find I am the same size in Louboutin’s as I am in most other brands. I’m from the UK though so I don’t know if US sizing is different? The older Louboutins, a couple of years ago, used to run smaller but I think now they run pretty much the same size? I wouldn’t like to say as I personally don’t own a Very Prive and I wouldn’t want to get it wrong for you. That’s really sweet of him though!
Hi Lorna!
A Spaniard Loub lover reading and enjoying your blog here! 🙂 Anyway, I just bough a pair of suede Alta Iowa and, guess what?? Yes! they are too tight around toes! What a surprise, eh? I am a 36. The length is perfect, they don’t slip off nor do they hurt on the heel BUT the toes are tight enough to feel uncomfortable. As they are peep toe, my big one shows and it looks like a fat squashed ball of meat popping out of the shoe LOL!! Is the sock trick effective on suede peep toes? Thanks dear!
Author
Hey Sandra 🙂 Oh the Alta Iowa are gorgeous! I love them so much! Where did you find them? I have found the sock trick quite effective with suede but not as much as normal leather would be, it takes a lot longer. You could try the shoe stretching spray on the inside of them as well?
Oh! Thanks for the speedy reply 🙂
I bought them on Ebay! I don’t usually buy Loubs there because there are so many fakes running around the site but I took a risk this time (prior TPF authetication! 😉 ). Yes, I will try the spray. Pfffft!! I must say I am a bit mad at Mr. Louboutin! I am a designer shoeaholic, I own Manolo’s, Versace’s, DSquared2’s, Dolce&Gabbana’s…. and NONE of those hurt my feet… The shoes adapt to my feet but, with Louboutin’s, I feel as if my feet must adapt to the shoe…Shouldn’t our beloved Louboutin figure out a way of making his shoes gorgeous AND comfortable at the same time?? We are not talking about 50€ shoes here!!! Oh gosh!!! I’m ranting, ain’t I? LOL!!
Author
Oh that’s lucky you found them there! I don’t trust eBay either but I trust those ladies at TPF and have bought some from eBay myself in the past 🙂 I know what you mean about his shoes being painful though as they really hurt my feet too! It does feel like you have to make your feet narrow and suffer the pain just to fit his shoes, I think that might be why I don’t wear them so much anymore to be honest lol 🙂
Ok I need help… i have never bought a pair of Louboutins so Im totally lost.. I want the Bianca’s in black leather, I wear a 8 in all shoes. would I be a 8 or a 8 1/2?? Help Please 🙂
Author
Hi, it’s hard to say, for me I’m the same size in normal shoes as I am in Louboutins. Are you ordering online? I took the peacock Bianca in a 39.5 and it fitted perfectly and my Louboutin size varies between 39-40. I haven’t tried the black ones so I don’t know how they run. You could try asking in the Louboutin section of The Purse Forum? 🙂
I went today and bought two pairs 🙂 I got a 8 1/2 in the bianca and new delic!! Yay Im so excited!! This blog is awesome 🙂
Author
I’m glad you like my blog Missy 🙂 That means a lot to me! I love Declic, I have about 3 pairs, which ones did you buy? 🙂 And don’t worry about the spelling lol 🙂
spelt that wrong, oopppsss meant new declic 🙂
Hi Lorna,
You’re such a sweetheart to help all of us with our sizing woes – thank you.
I typically wear a 38 (7-7.5 US) in CL. My last lady peep and alti pump were both 38s… so I ordered the daffodil (simple closed toe leather) in 38, but they’re a little big (they slip when I walk fast). Too late to return. So other than the heel grip recommendation, do you suggest anything else? I’m going to try that one this weekend…
Best,
Nicole
Author
Hi Nicole, it’s not a problem! How big are they at the bag? Can you fit your little finger in the gap between your foot and the back of the shoe? I think the foam heel grips are they best, they have more grip, or you could try some foot petals, they are insoles you put only at the front of the shoe where the ball of your foot sits and it helps push the foot back 🙂
Hi Lorna,
good i found ur article..
I bought my pair of Loub long time ago and only manage to wear it twice..it was ok when i was at the shop but after really on it for almost 4 hrs it hurt me a lot. gonna try the sock tip..cheers
Author
Hi! I hope it works out for you!
HI Lorna! I am so happy to have found your blog! So I bought a pair of Alta Dama (140mm) size 38.5 and have worn these AMAZING shoes only 3 times because my feet feel like they are bleeding! The sales ladies at CL swore they would stretch out a lot and they have not at all! I think it is because I just don’t wear them enough (because they KILL). Think the Sock trick will work? Is there such thing as a professional shoe stretcher…lol
HELP I want to wear these everywhere! I need to get my $1200.00 worth!
Author
Hi Julie! Gosh that sounds painful!! What are they made of? It depends on what they are made of for how much they will stretch.
Wearing them only three times is, unfortunately, part of the problem. With my So Kates, I wore them every day at home for at least an hour for over a month before I dared take them outside. I knew that if I test-drove them too soon, the pain would be unbearable! You have to be patient and you have to put in the time. Otherwise, Loubies can wind up being horrible wastes of $$$$.
Hi Lorna,
I’m so happy I found this website! I ordered two pair of Prorata 90mm. One in 39 and one in 39.5. I’m now torn! The 39 is snug and my toes hurt a tad…but not unbearable. The 39.5 feel much better but they have a tiny tiny space in the back heel. Is space bad to have? I’m mean it’s a tiny space. Or is it better to be snug?
Author
Hi Bryana! It all depends on how much you are going to wear them. Will you be wearing them loads for long periods of time? When you wear the 39.5 can you walk in them quite fast without them slipping off your feet or do they slip?
That’s always the choice, and, in my opinion, you’re always better off getting the smaller size. The smaller size will stretch, if you put in the time at home (it usually takes a week or two of daily at-home wear), but the bigger size will ALWAYS be a bit big and it will only get bigger and less walkable as time goes by. Eventually, you won’t be able to walk comfortably in them at all; they’ll just keep popping off your feet. I know; I’ve been there and I learned my lesson.
I will not be wearing them that often and when I do I don’t see me in them for longer than 5 hours or so. The 39 makes an air sounds when I’m walking? Does that mean they are to small? The 39.5 don’t slip when I’m just walking…oh this decision is tough.
Well they both make that air sound…
The 39.5 do slip a tad…I just walked around for a bit….
Author
Which are you most comfortable in? I think it depends on that. If you wont wear them that often then they wont stretch much at all. If the 39’s are too painful and you feel like they hurt your feet anytime you walk in them then I wouldn’t go with them. I have some like that which I was hoping to stretch out but it never worked out that way because they were too painful to wear to even stretch out lol.
Thank you so much! I have decided on the 39.5! You are doing women all over good here 🙂
Author
Lol thank you 🙂 I really really hope they work out for you! What colour did you pick?
Black, they are my first pair 🙂
Author
You can’t go wrong with black 🙂
Hi, I just recieved the Big Stack 120 leather pumps as a present for my birthday however they are tooo small! I recieved the 35 but my toes are finding it really hard to get in the shoes! Do you think its worth it to have them stretched professionally? I’ve never done that before so not sure how they will work on the Louboutins!
Author
Hi Aroosha! Can you actually fit the shoes and walk in them or is that not possible?
HI Lorna,
I recently purchased a pair of CL Mago 1400 mm in blk, nude in size 40
and the toe area is killing me. My toes look kind of bent and horrible especially because
I have a wide foot!
But when I tried on the 40.5 they were too big from the back.
I don’t know what to do. Do you think they would stretch.
Thanks, amanda x
Author
Hi Amanda! The Magos are so pretty! It sounds like you got the right size though if the 40.5 were too big, I think the Mago is just a shoe much like the Rolando, the toe box barely has any room and it’s painful all the time. If your toes are bent though, it doesn’t sound like they would stretch a lot to be comfortable, they would probably still be painful. Does it hurt a lot when you walk? Is it too painful to walk?
140mm*
It hurts a little when I walk, but it’s not unbearable.
But the shoe makes my toes look retarted ! lol
They are bent and look squashed. What do you think I should fo ?
Btw, I love your blog 🙂
Author
Most of his shoes end up making girls feet look like that actually, he likes the whole toe cleavage look and the toe boxes are always narrow so I understand what you mean. If they are not too painful then you could try the sock trick for a while around your house but the main problem would be are you ok with how they look on you? Like do you mind that squashed look because that probably wont go away, it might a tiny bit, but not properly. Mines never gone away. And thank you for liking my blog too 🙂
Tbh, I wanted a plain pair of his heels,
either the Lady Daf nude or the Daffodile Black, but they are unavailable in Sydney.
So my last option was the Mago, but I’m not sure if I want to bear that much toe clevage lmaoo. So I may opt for another shoe if possible, mainly due to the appearance.
Do you know if there are any online stores that have either of those shoes, and
that ship to Australia?
Thanks heaps x
Author
I understand what you mean! I feel the same way completely. I only know of the normal retailers like Net-A-Porter, Matches, Browns, Pam Jenkins, Luisaviaroma, My Theresa etc but I don’t believe they have any of the Daffs in. Those are hard to come by!
Haha I reckon!
I’ve checked everywhere but i don’t know where to find them !
Are there any shoes you recommend for people with wide feet, aka me lol
Thanks for your help, this blog rocks and i don’t know what I would’ve done without it 🙂
Author
I’m really glad you like it 🙂 As for recommending shoes, did you mean Louboutin styles or a different brand?
I don’t mind, either Louboutin or another brand.
But I would prefer Louboutin from the striking red, thats the main reason
I want his shoes ! Lol
Any other brands you suggest ?
Thanks x
Author
For Louboutins, have you tried the Simple pump? Those have a more rounded toe so the toe box isn’t so squashy, I admit they aren’t as pretty but they are less squashy or if you want a high platform, the Bianca has a rounded toe area too and it’s less squashy. The Bianca is gorgeous! I posted the peacock coloured ones on my blog actually, you can see them here https://fordlafemmes.com/2011/01/23/christian-louboutin-peacock-bianca-140/ they do squash a bit at first still but nothing that stretching them out wouldn’t fix. But my feet are not very wide so for you they might still hurt, you could give them a go though? Bianca comes in nude and black too.
Omg I love your shoes! They’re absolutely beautiful and the colour is breathtaking:)
I’m actually going to try them on in the store !
Does anyone on this blog have the Daffodile or Lady Daf because I want their opinion on the height and the total comfort available !
Thanks again Lorna x
Author
Unfortunately I never kept them, I realised I wouldn’t wear them barely ever so I couldn’t justify the money on them. They were amazing though! I’m the only person on this blog if you meant any other writers but maybe any other readers could help you out if you meant that instead!
Yeah thats true, thats why I wanted either a nude or black pair
seeing as they basically match everything !
Hahha yeah I meant that lmaoo
Author
Yeah they are the best! My favourite nude pair is my Kurt Geiger heels actually!
Hi,
My husband bought me my 1st pair of CL. Their the black patent Bianca!!! Which I love…however my right foot fits too tight, the right seems to fit just fine. I’m a
7 1/2 US & these are 37 1/2 …do you think they’ll stretch?
Because I’ve tried the 38 & they seem perfect for my right foot, but a bit big for my left:(
Author
Hi Yesenia! Wow lucky you! The black patent Biancas are gorgeous! When you say too tight, how painful is it? Is it so painful that you can’t walk in them? It seems like if you tried the 38 then it wouldn’t work out because of your left foot. I have the same problem as you but my biggest foot is my right one, it’s quite noticeable in my shoes actually. How good would it be if they could sell you different sizes for each foot?
That’s exactly my situation; my right foot is also slightly bigger than my left. In my experience, you’re better off squeezing your right foot than coddling your left foot. A tight shoe can usually be stretched with vigorous breaking-in at home; but once a big shoe, always a big shoe, and getting bigger.
OMG lucky you! His shoes are absoloutely gorgeous.
Now Im considering to invest in a pair of his shoes too ! Lmaoo
Just a quick question,
How much were you Kurt Geiger Eleanor nude heels?
Thanks x
Author
They were £130 GBP when I bought them but they since went in the sale! It looks like they are sold out now though. They only have a black pair with a snake pattern platform. You could try eBay though!
Hahhah lucky you ! And thanks so much for your help.
this is truly the best blog about Christian Louboutins.
Are you on twitter ?
Author
Thank you! I am glad you like it! Yep I am, and on FaceBook, you can see my links in the side bar, it has all the places you can follow me on!
Coolies. Thanks for your fantastic help ! Much appreciated 🙂
Author
No problem! 🙂
Hi Lorna. I am a fairly wide 39 or 39.5 and want to buy my first pair of CLs. I love his Alta Fifre and the wedding shoes 01 (multi coloured strappy gold ankle sandals) but wonder how the fit is??? Can you help me before I spend the money please? x
Author
Hi, the Alta Fifre are really old, where were you able to find a pair of those? I haven’t seen those around for a long time. They are quite narrow though. Louboutins are narrow in general so ladies with wider feet tend to struggle with comfort a lot.
Hello Lorna,
I have fairly narrow feet and I normally wear a 7.5 in most shoes, but with many heels I find that they slip in the heel. I’m buying my first pair of Louboutins and I really want to make sure I get the right size. I’m looking at the Decollete 100 in the black patent and the Size 37 (Size 7 US) doesn’t slip at all and feels slightly snug. The 37.5 (Size 7.5 US) feel like it fits my whole foot better, but slips slightly (which can be annoying). The slippage is not a lot and I would imagine some heel grips should do the trick. What size would you recommend given the style? Do these shoes stretch at all? If so, do they stretch a lot? It’s silly to think ahead but I hear my feet might grow a bit after pregnancy which might happen this year…
Please help – Thank you!
Author
Hi Melissa, congratulations on your pregnancy first of all! Is the 37 comfortable to walk in? I know you said it feels snug but can you walk in them fine and they aren’t painful? The stretching depends on how much you will wear them. If you plan on wearing them a lot then they will stretch out quite a bit. Patent does stretch so that’s a good choice to pick. I’ve been there with shoes that slip and heel grips barely work, the foam ones are the best but sometimes you can see on the foot that there is a gap and they don’t grip your feet all that well. Like I said above, if the 37 aren’t painful and you can walk in them fine and plan on wearing them a lot, I would pick those ones, and hope your feet don’t get bigger lol!
Thanks for the quick response! I think you’re right on the 7. They’re snug, but they don’t hurt. I also don’t plan to wear them all that often and if they stretch a bit (I’ll try your sock technique above) I think they’ll be fine. The Decollete 100 style is all sold out now, but I’ve been told that it’s one of the basics and always comes back – do you have any idea when I should check back? It seems that Barney’s, Bergdorf, Neiman and Saks are all sold out… I’m also not pregnant yet, but my husband and I are planning to try this year. If they don’t fit after, then I’ll have to get some more 🙂 I can see how they’d be addictive, such a gorgeous silhouette…
Thanks so much!!!
Author
Oh I thought you meant you were pregnant! Well hopefully you will be 🙂 Yeah they are one of the classics, the annoying thing about his classics is they never go in the sale lol but they are available every season. Stock varies from shop to shop so it might be worth sending an email to a couple of them and asking when they might expect their new deliveries. Have you tried calling a Louboutin boutique? They can do it over the phone for you and ship them out. I’ve done that before. Are they in stock on the Louboutin website?
Thanks! I’m silly for thinking ahead about my feet growing, but I will be so sad if I only wear these a handful of times. They aren’t available on the website, but I will try the Louboutin boutique – great idea! Thanks so much for all of your help. Take Care!
Author
No problem! Let me know if I can help anymore and I understand about thinking ahead, you are excited cautious, I’m the same way! You take care too!
Okay I just recently decided to purcharse the Lady Daf nude CL but was concerned about the fit… I wear a 9 US so should I get a 91/2 or 10? Ugh i just had a tragiccccccc experience with a another platform maryjane time shoe and it was noottttt pleasant at all .. I just wanna make sure I Don’t have this problem again. pleaseee give ur advicee asap =)
Author
Hi Kayla, I actually haven’t tried the Lady Daf heels so I am not sure how they run really but I do find CL shoes run normal size for me. You could ask in the Louboutin section of The Purse Forum. Those ladies might be able to help you out more! =)
Hey Kayla,
Sorry to interrupt but was wondering where you purchased the Lady Daf CL.
Thanks x
Hi Lorna,
my fiance bought me a pair of Cls for christmas that were too big from neiman’s. I went back to exchange them and they didnt have a smaller size. so we looked at style after style and ALL of them hurt my feet (small toe box) ALOT. i did end up ordering the peep toe prive platform (sight unseen) but i am worried they won’t fit as well. How about this : which style is the WIDEST in the toe box?? haha. I really want a pair but am nervous there is no hope 🙁 all the 36’s were too big (heel not even close) and the 35.5’s were too tight. My shoe guy was not at all helpful (kept trying to steer me to other brands)- i own prada, dior, oscar, Jc’s— no problem with them whatsoever. Please help!
Author
Hi Renee! I’m sorry they are all too tight for you! I think your sales assistant may have been trying to steer you towards other brands purely because CL has small toe boxes on most of his shoes. Every one of his shoes is quite tight. I would say though that one of his widest shoes would probably be the Simple pump, it comes in lots of different heel heights but it’s a rounded toe which makes it wider. Have you tried the Simple pump? Bianca isn’t too bad either, have you tried Bianca? That’s rounder in the toe area but it can be a bit tight too.
To be frank, I’ve learned to completely ignore the way a Louboutin shoe feels in the toe when brand new. If they’re the right size, a new Louboutin will ALWAYS pinch and hurt in the toes; it’s the way they’re deliberately designed, and is part of the look. If they don’t pinch, then you’re not wearing the right size, frankly. The thing to look for is the heel, and only the heel. If the heel doesn’t slip, they’re your right size; if it slips, it’s too big, regardless of the pain in the toes. The way to make a Louboutin shoe work for you is to vigorously and relentlessly break them in by constant wearing at home for a few weeks, before you venture outside with them. That’s what I do. It takes patience and persistence but otherwise, you wind up with an $800 hole in your pocket for nothing.
when i tried them all on- the pointed toe almost felt better than the rounded but that could be in my head. what do you think of the NEW simple 120 or the pigalle plato? the prive i got is 100mm – i thought the shorter they were the less pressure on the toes?? also- i am not sure he could get any style- only those through the neiman website.
Author
The new simple is cute! Pigalle Plato is the same as a Pigalle but with a platform, I own a pair of Pigalles and they are the most painful CLs I have ever owned, they hurt my feet so much that I don’t even want to wear them lol. I wouldn’t recommend Pigalle to you if other CLs hurt your feet. You are right though, the lower they are the less pressure on the ball of your feet however I find the lower ones crush your toes more than the higher ones because your feet are less bent. It’s weird to explain lol. What about the Bianca Jazz? http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod140880019&parentId=cat39620738&masterId=cat5130731&index=33&cmCat=cat000000cat000141cat000149cat000199cat5130731cat39620738&isEditorial=false
Interesting what you say about Pigalles being painful. My understanding always was that the So Kates were the worst. Do you think the So Kates are better?
Author
I actually haven’t tried So Kate, this article is many years old 🙂 But I’ve heard the same. So Kate are worse.
In which case, I can definitely tell you that those impressions, while accurate, are only part of the story. With my two pairs of So Kates, I wore them at home, religiously, for about four to five weeks, and just put up with the pain. And, by the end of that time, they were fine. So I’m figuring that if the So Kates can be tamed by persistence and endurance, then I’m sure the Pigalles can also be made to submit. One just has to never forget that a new Louboutin NEVER feels the same as a broken-in Louboutin. It’s apples and pears. They change more from breaking-in than any other high heeled shoe I’ve ever had. That’s why trying them on in the store is only part of the process, because the only part of the shoe that should feel comfortable, and should fit right, from the get-go is the heel. If the heel is too loose, too big. If the heel is too tight, too small. If the heel feels right, ignore everything else, because that will only come after loving the shoes to death.
Thanks Lorna- Bianca Jazz is super cute- if the ones i ordered don’t work i will try these 🙂
Author
Good luck with it! I haven’t tried the Bianca Jazz but they are on my wishlist! 🙂
Hi, I got my first pair this Christmas and they seemed the right size at first so I wore them out – through the night my feet slipped down into the front of the toe and I am left with a big gap at the back – I am going to try your methods. On the night, I stuffed the toes with tissue – which I’m sure you have tried and know it is painful! Is there anything you can stuff the toe with that is not painful? I was thinking memory foam or something?
Author
Hi Alice, have you tried foot petals? They are little petal shaped inserts which you put on the ball of the shoe inside, those keep your feet from slipping forward, they keep them in position. They look like this http://www.footpetals.com/ maybe you could give those a try? It is annoying when shoes stretch out!
Hello: 1st I’m happy to have found this site, lol, it’s good when you realize you aren’t the only one. Last week I bought the Louboutin cork colored Marple Town’s. I bought a 38 at first (WAY too tight) returned them for an 38.5 (I should have known because my Gucci pumps are 38.5). I wore the Marple Town’s yesterday and they fit (meaning no rubbing on the toe and heel, feet don’t slide, and toes don’t hang over the front of the shoe) however, my feet went numb (oh the expensive price we pay to look cute) meaning they are too tight. This is my first pair of CL’s so I panicked (as I already wore them on the carpet at work) and thought all was lost. But I’m going to try the sock trick and hope they loosen up a little. The toe strap is patent on top but lined with leather underneath – any thoughts as to whether this will actually stretch? Oh and I have Gucci pumps that squeak horribly when I walk in them, especially on cermic/tile like surfaces. I’ve read this is the sign of a faulty shoe shank but I hope that’s wrong – any thoughts on how to stop this?
Author
Hi Kia! Oh the Marple Towns are pretty! Great choice! I would definitely try the sock trick since it’s just a strap across the front, that should stretch out really well. You could also try tugging at it a bit (really carefully though) which helps. Sometimes I will pull lightly on the toe box of one of my shoes or put my hand in it and stretch my hand out. You have to be super super careful though, don’t break the shoe. I wouldn’t recommend doing that if you are not comfortable with it. There is also a leather stretcher spray, that works well, since yours is a strap, maybe you could spray some onto a cloth and rub it on the underside of the strap and then wear 2 pairs of socks while the spray stretches it out? That might be the best idea. I used the spray on my Treopli and it worked well. Just be careful with it.
As for the squeaking, are they patent? I had a pair of patent Louboutin Esoteri booties and they squeaked really badly when I walked, they were perfectly made though, it was just the material. I couldn’t stop it unfortunately so I ended up letting them go.
Hmm these are the black Gucci Betty High Heel Platforms, all leather material
I hope I won’t have to let them go – they are SUPER comfortable :o(
My work building is carpeted (they don’t squeak there) but the lunch and bathroom are not (this is where the squeaking puts on it’s Broadway musical show, lol). I don’t wear them outside.
Author
Oh that’s weird they squeak when they are leather. Maybe you could look online and see if there is a way to stop squeaking? I’m personally not sure. Sorry!
Well thanks so much for all of your help :o)
I think I’m going to send them in to the repair shop suggested on the CL’s website – if they can service those I would feel comfortable sending these in to them too.
I bought them from Neiman Marcus after considerable research, etc. so we’ll see. Thanks again (especially for the prompt response).
Author
You are welcome 🙂 I hope it works out for you! Let me know how it goes!
Hi Lorna,
Is it supposed to be painful when you are wearing socks? Also, my left food tends to pop out when I have the socks on. Do I need to go up half a size?
Thank you!

Hi Stacy, yes, if the shoes were painful to start with which is why you are stretching them out, it’s more painful with a sock on because there is less room in the shoe. How painful is it? And when you say pop out, do you mean slip off when you walk or?
Sorry about that, I meant to say to slip off.
My toes feel like they are going numb. I can’t even wiggle them around.
These are my first pair, I wasn’t sure what to expect.
Thank you again!
Author
Oh so they slip off when you walk? If they do that then they are definitely not too small, otherwise your feet wouldn’t slip out. Which pair did you buy? Because some have smaller toe boxes than others and some are unbearable to wear.
When I wear my socks, my right foot does not slip out while my left foot does.
I bought these from Neiman Marcus. http://www.neimanmarcus.com/p/Christian-Louboutin-Glittered-Thick-Heel-Platform-Pump-Pumps/prod128220006/. I am not sure of the exact name or style of these. They were just labeled as Glittered Pumps.
Thank you!

Those are absolutely gorgeous! I love the colour so much! I think those might slip off as they are a heavier shoe? You probably have the same problem like a lot of us, one foot a bit bigger than the other. Do your feet slip out when you don’t wear socks? The socks are to only stretch the shoes out so if your feet are fine without socks, don’t worry about it! Are they loosening up anymore?
Hi Lorna
Thanks so much for taking your time to entertain all of our sizing woes, it really does mean a lot to me! I do hope you can help me with my personal louboutin dilemma. I am considering either a corneille 100 in black leather or a piou piou 85 in blush patent – usually I wear a size 39 (UK 6) but since I am ordering these online from Net a porter.com – I’m worried that size 39 would be too tight. Do you think I should get a 39.5 or 40? Thanks again for your time Lorna – it is greatly appreciated!! 🙂
Author
Hi Chloe 🙂 No problem! I haven’t tried those exact shoes, but I do have a pair of Pigalle and I took my normal Louboutin size in them, but they are so painful! Is this your first Louboutin purchase or do you have others? It might be worth you asking the ladies in the Louboutin section of The Purse Forum because they might have tried them there, they could give you more advice. I wouldn’t like to say simply because that’s a style I’m not familiar with. Sorry!
Plus since the style of the corneille/piou piou is similar to simple/decolette/pigalle – all of which I have heard are too large – I am wondering if I should just stick to my 39?
thanks!
Hi Lorna, yeap Louboutin virgin! am so excited to get them but just praying they fit. thanks a million anyway, and love the blog! will definitely try TPF
Author
Good luck with them! I hope they work out! Let me know!
Hi Lorna,
OMG…Thanks for setting up this blog. I’ve been reading through fellow CL fans and realised I am not the only one suffering from the pain of owning a pair of the Killer Red Heels!
My boyfriend brought me a pair of Decollette 868 100 Jazz Pump last week as a belated xmas present. We have been waiting for 2 months for this shoe. I tried it on at the store and at the time size 35 seams to fit ok, though I didn’t really walked around much.
I felt the toe box was a little tight, I knew I had a slightly wider feet. The sales assistant told me to practice wearing it at home and to wear them with socks to stretched them out.
I have been doing this for the past few days, wearing them no longer than 3 minutes at a time, cause they DO HURT!!! It fits snug, but is just tight at the toe box. Do you think it worth going 1/2 size up or shall I just continue to stretch it at home.
This evening I have worn them for over 1/2 hr, though I have been sitting as I write you this message, so I guess there is no downward force on my feet, but I can feel my toes squashed together.
This is my very first and sadly my last pair of Louboutin, as I don’t think I am made for the pain of wearing heels 🙁
I love shoes, unfortunately, they don’t love me in return.
Please help!
Author
Hi Lilly 🙂 That’s sweet of him to buy you them! How do they fit you length wise? Is there any gap at the back of your foot? Or is it just the toe box that’s tight?
Hi Lorna,
Thanks for your reply. The shoes fits perfectly length wise, no gaps what so ever. It’s just the toe box which are all squashed together, especially my second toe on my left feet, after taking the shoes off I see them bent and badly bruised.
I tried practising wearing them again last night, for about an hour. The right feet seems fine though tight, but the left was more painful. When I took off the shoes both the little bones on my feets were red and sore 🙁
I’m thinking that I may have to return them back to the store this week, though I really don’t want to, I just can’t see how it will be possible for me wearing them standing up when im crying wearing them sitting down.
What shall I do, is there any other alternative which has a wider toe box. I really don’t want to return them.
Speak soon xx
Author
Hi Lilly, you probably wont want to hear this but I would take them back 🙁 I don’t think those are going to become tolerable, it sounds incredibly painful and going up a size would make them gap at the back and slip off, I also find that going up half a size never makes much difference to the toe box area really, it just makes the shoes fit for uncomfortably because your feet are not on the insoles correctly. Maybe you could return them and opt for a Louboutin that has a wider toe box? I know it’s so upsetting how painful his shoes are. I actually stopped buying them now because of the pain.
Hi Lorna,
I took them back, though I was not as sad as I thought I would be…I have a replacement! I tried on the Simple Pump 100mm in Patent, and they are so much more comfortable, well as comfortable as a pair of heels can be. There is much more room in the toe box, I can actually feel each toe 🙂 However, the length is an issue, its actually a little bigger than the Decollete. I could fit my little finger in the back. I walked around them for a few minutes, and it kept slipping off? Its that normal, that one style can fit me pefectly, no gaps but extremely small toe box, and the other, more space at the toe box, but longer in length?
Anyway, my biggest dilemma now is…do I go for the Patent leather or the Kid Matt leather? I am told that leather will stretch over time giving more comfort, whilst the patent will stay relatively stiff?
What is your experience? Which one do I choose???
Author
Hi Lilly! I was actually going to suggest the Simple pump, it’s much wider and much more comfortable! If you can fit your finger in the back of the shoe they are 100% too big on you 🙁 You need to go down a size. Louboutin sizing is all over the place. Some of his shoes I am a 39 and others I am a 40 or even a 40.5, it’s crazy! Also because the toe box on the Decolette was narrow that may have pushed your foot back in the shoe so it appeared to fit. They will only stretch with wear so I would suggest getting a smaller size. Nobody can walk in shoes that have a gap. As for patent and matte, patent is pretty and I like it a lot, but the matte leather will stretch the most. You are correct on what you were told! It’s up to you which you like the most though, I have many patent Louboutins and they are comfy!
hi Lorna-
I just got the SImple 100 Pump in Patent in nude in size 38. got home, tried them on again and i am slipping out of them. I am normally a 37.5 in shoes. I went back to try the 37.5 and thought that they were too tight, really in the toe box, not horrible, but after standing for a while, my toes hurt. my big toe touches the front of the shoe. what should i do? get the smaller size and hope with socks to stretch them out? or have them big and add pads? does his patent leather stretch that much? help!!! thanks so much!
Author
Hi Molly! How do your feet fit in the 38? Is there any gap at the back from your heel and the back of the shoe? If there is no gap and they are slipping, it might be because you have different shaped ankles like I do and you need the tape to stick your feet in. If there is a gap, they are probably too big and would need padding out. It depends on the gap situation.
For what it’s worth, with Loubies I’ve never bought into the idea that you need a certain amount of space in front of the toe. Loubies are not normal shoes. They’re concept shoes. They’re about a feel and a sexy look. And, among other things, the toes are supposed to fit tight and short; that’s the design. If your heel slips out of the shoe, you need a half-size smaller, regardless of what’s happening with your toes, as I learned the hard way when I cheated up on my size with my first Loubies. After that I went half a size down, suffered a lot during a few weeks of breaking in, and now I can walk everywhere in them, provided I don’t stay in them for more than three or four hours. Diligent daily breaking-in at home for a few weeks will take care of most of the tightness in the toe, though they will never feel really roomy; they can’t because then you would lose the toe cleavage, and that’s an important part of the look.
thanks! the gap is Minor. Like a 1/2 or 1/3 of a centimeter.
Author
You might be able to get away with heel grips then. If the half a size down was too tight and your toes were at the end, the length rarely stretches out in my experience, only the width. I would recommend the foam heel grips, the gel ones are very slippery. You could try some and see?
Lorna,
So happy I discovered your blog! 4 years ago I promised my daughter a pair of CL’s for her college graduation 🙂 She just texted me that she just ordered her cap & gown – I’m so proud and excited for her! I can’t believe how fast the last 4 years have gone and now I’m stressing on which shoe to get! lol She’s 5’4″ and has a very narrow heal … she normally wears a 6 1/2 in a heal and a 7 in a flat. Looking for a “timeless classic” and thinking the Simple Pump 100 in black leather… or do you think the New Simple would be a better choice? She’ll be going to grad school and then secondary education. She wears a lot of Lilly Pulitzer, Ann Taylor …Jack Rogers and TB Revas. Thanks and look forward to hearing from you!
Author
Hi Pegge! Congratulations to your daughter on graduating! I am sure you are very proud of her 🙂 I obviously don’t know what she would personally like as I don’t know her, so if you think the Simple pump would be good for her, then go with your instinct. Out of the two (Simple and New Simple) I would probably say go with the New Simple as it has a little bit of a platform on the sole, which will make them more comfortable on the ball of the foot. I have shoes with and without the platform and the platform definitely helps with comfort. It stops the hard ground being so painful on the feet. You can never go wrong with black leather either, it’s the most classic. I think that would be a wonderful present to her, she’s lucky she’s getting a pair of Louboutins! If she had small ankles, like myself, she may need to do the tape trick because CL shoes always slip off my feet, it doesn’t matter which pumps of his I try, they always slip because of my ankle shape. But hopefully it will be ok!
Thank you, Lorna, for your kind words. I’ll be so proud and excited to see her walk acorss the stage to get her deploma in her CL’s. I really appreciate your advice on the platforms – stylish and practical! I love the fashion tape trick too … we use it all the time for clothing and I never thought of using it for shoes too. I’ve always used a little dab of stick glue on the ball of my foot to keep Jack Rogers sandals from slipping – I’ll definitely be switching to the tape trick! Thank you so much … best to you!
Author
Hopefully it works for you, well her! Oh glue, that might be interesting, but it might make the shoes a bit sticky? I definitely love the tape, it works so well!
I’m usually around a 6 in size, but the Daffodile Louboutin’s that I would like only come up in half sizes. I can either purchase the 5.5 or the 6.5. What size would you recommend?
Author
Hi ellie, how come they are only in half sizes? They should be available in full and half sizes, unless you mean they have sold out?
Because they’re cheaper on this website but they don’t have full sizes, if i am a 6 what size would be better for me to get?
Author
Which website is it because you might be on a fake website. Can you show me the link?
http://www.christianlouboutininfo.com/
Author
Sorry but those aren’t real, they are terrible fakes, you can’t buy real Louboutins like that. Any website with Louboutin in the address (except for the real Louboutin website) is a fake. If you buy those you will waste your money because they are not real Louboutins.
oh okay thank you! how expensive are the real ones? Because i’m only 15, and this is a treat from my dad haha! can you link me to the real website please?
http://www.onlinedesignstyle.com/christian-louboutin-daffodile-platform-pumps_UK-P458.html
would these be real by any chance?
Author
Hi, no those aren’t real either. If you are looking at the crystal Daffodil heels, you are looking at over £1,500. They are a LOT of money. All Louboutins are really expensive. The cheapest ones you can find of his would be some of his classics which are a black leather round toe pump or something similar at about £400. You can find real Louboutins on websites like Net-A-Porter, Luisaviaroma, My Theresa, Pam Jenkins, Barneys New York, Saks Fifth Avenue etc. All authentic stores. Hopefully that helps! But they are super expensive!
Thank you! If i got the fake ones, would there be a big difference? (other than that they are fake)
Author
Yeah, don’t buy fakes, fakes are horrible, they are nothing like the real ones, they fall apart, they don’t fit, they can snap when you wear them, the crystals wont shine, they will be really horribly and poorly made and people will know they are fake, it’s not a good idea. Plus it funds all of the crime and illegal things in the foreign countries. Definitely not a good idea, don’t support fakes, it’s upsetting to the designers and the effort and time they put into the products they make 🙂
thank you! I won’t buy them! Thank you so much for all your help
Author
You are welcome! I’m really glad you commented here first, I’m happy I could help you out!
Hi there! I just purchased my first pair of Louboutin’s they are the Altadama, I wore them last night for the first time and I had to take them off!!! My husband kept telling me to put them back on, but I couldn’t stand the pain! It was as if my feet swelled and I couldn’t even get the shoes back on! They are so painful on my pinky toe area! I did try the sock, perhaps not long enough :/ I’m hoping to get them worked in by the 10th I have a wedding to go too.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Author
Hi Kim, the Altadama is a gorgeous shoe! I have a pair in the lower heeled version, love them. They are narrow in the toe area though. I think you should really try the sock trick so much in the next week, even put two socks on if you have to, anything to stretch it out. It’s likely your feet did swell up though, mine have done it, when your feet get really hot they get bigger and then if they hurt they get bigger too, which might have been the case!
Hi Lorna,
I purchased the simple 85s in a 37.5 which is definitely my size. the 38 was too big…anyway, they are slightly tight in the toe area, but not as painful as some ppl have described. i read your blog and tried the sock trick. i wore 3 pairs of socks lol and wore the shoes around the house for about 3hrs. after i took them of..voila! the shoes had stretch..and a lot! it was great but i was almost worried that it was too much..however, i tried the shoes on again the next morning and it seems like they’re almost back to how they were beofre. im wondering, how often are you suppose to do the sock method until the stretch is permanent? how long should you leave the socks on each time?
Thanks!
Author
Hi Natalie, they probably didn’t stretch as much as you thought actually, as you were used to wearing them so tight with socks on, they felt looser? That happened to me too! And if your feet are hot, they swell up and shoes feel tighter. What I recommend doing is leaving balls of socks stuffed in the toe box while you are not wearing them too, this keeps them stretched out while not being worn. It does take a while for them to stretch out properly, but good luck with it! The Simple 85s are a really nice shoe! Not too high either!
Hi Lorna,
So excited I found your site!! I just purchased my first pair of Louboutins. I have the Maggie Metal Captoe in Pewter. I LOVE them. I am a size 10(40) but I purchased a 41. The shoes are very tight in the toe area. Should I follow the sock method? Any feedback would be appreciated.
Author
Hi! You should definitely try it, it can’t hurt to try! Are they really really painful or just only a little bit painful?
I would say in between a little and alot. I tried the sock trick earlier and stayed in them for about a hour and half and they did stretch. I will keep at to make sure they remain stretched.
Author
Good luck with it! Remember to keep the toe box stuffed with socks too, to make sure they don’t shrink back!
Hi Lorna,
I decided to order CL Black Leather Daffodil. I typically wear european size 38, I heard they run small and I dont know which size will fit me 38.5 or 39 . I’m buying my first pair of Louboutins and I really want to make sure I get the right size. Please help me! Thanks.
Author
Hi tuti, most people say CL’s run small, but I actually find them not to run that small. I haven’t tried the Daffodil myself, so I am unsure, but I usually go with my normal shoe size in CL’s and that’s ok. But each of his styles vary, I have some in 39 and some in 40.5. I’m sorry about not knowing. Maybe go to the purse forum and ask the lovely ladies in the CL section! They will know.
Hi Lorna! I really want to get the black suede Bourge 100MM boot, but I am not sure if i should go to a size 9 (since I wear a size 8.5) or not. I have a pair of very priv shoes that I was told to go a whole size up in and then I had to put heel grips in them to make them fit better and it is just uncomfortable. I know I will have help because it is a boot with the bourge, but I would rather choose properly. True to size? Half size up? or whole size up? Or do I need to go smaller?
Author
Hi Sara! With my experience, his boots always run smaller, I actually usually size up half or a full size in boots because they don’t fit otherwise. With the Prive’s you should have stuck to your normal size as it’s open toed, open toe shoes always give you at least have a size. I would say try a 9, if you can and have the option of returning them. Is there anywhere you can try them before buying? I haven’t tried the Bourge style myself, I have only tried some other boots like Clic Clac, Esoteri and some others. So I can’t say 100% exactly how they run, sorry! But like I said, from experience the boots always run smaller. Hope that helped?
Thanks Lorna! I live in a place where I can’t get them and from what I see, they only sell them from CL directly. Good to know about the prive, because they don’t fit right, but I have “rigged” them to make them work. I think I will try getting a size 9 and go from there… So, you certainly helped. Thanks!
Author
I really hope they work out and I’m sorry if they don’t, but hopefully you can get them sorted. Is returning an option if you need to?
Lorna: Just like all these lovely ladies I am happy to know that I am not the only one with CL tight shoe issues. Ok so I just got the Fifi 100mm in the nude patent leather size 38.5 (I am a 8.5 US). It seems my right foot fits fine (it’s snug but it is bearable) but the left shoes seems like super snug in there. My pinky toe seems like it is super crushed. I don’t know what to do if I should just get the next size up 39 or just stick with these and try the sock method. What do you suggest?
Author
Hi Sally! Yeah you are definitely not alone! How painful is the right foot? Can you walk ok or is it too painful? Also what are they made of? That determines how much they might stretch. I’m assuming there is no gap between your heel and the shoe too?
I just bought a pair of nude new simple pumps at saks. normally a 7, but actually got a 36.5 in these as the 37 was slightly slipping and the salesguy suggested to go with the smaller size as they stretch. If you buy them at Saks, they will stretch out your shoe for free (takes about 5 min) for as long as you have the shoe! They stretched out the front a bit, but its still a bit tight, so I will try the sock method before bringing them into the store to be stretched again
Author
Oh wow! How do they stretch them out in store? With heat?
I am buying my first pair finally…I meant to order the bianca 140 but instead ordered the bianca 120. Have you ever worn the 140? I figured go big or go home. they are nude patent and gorg! i also ordered them in a 7.5 (what I always have worn) and I feel like my toes are smushed (and my heel is slipping out like always) should i try a half size up? my shoe guy says 1/2 size up, the CL girl says down. Im so confused!
Author
Hi! I have tried the 140, I had them in Peacock which you can see here https://fordlafemmes.com/2011/01/23/christian-louboutin-peacock-bianca-140/ but I didn’t keep them as I knew I wouldn’t wear them. They were amazing though! I have never tried the 120 Bianca, only the 140. If your heels are slipping out the back, it can mean one of two things, you have too much space at the back or you have narrow heels. Can you see a gap from the back of your heel to the shoe or can you fit a little finger in there?
Hello! I have the pigalles in patent black and they are my first pair. I ordered the 38 and one shoe has a much bigger gap than the other. It’s frustrating because the sides are pretty tight on the width of my foot. The Pigalle has such an arch that I feel like if it was any tighter I wouldn’t be able to walk but I still have that gap behind my heel. The pigalle is so hard to obtain and I waited for months until it became available in my size. Not trying to completely lose out on them and I want to wear them to an important event in May. Could anyone let me know what they think? Thanks 🙂 I’m a size 7.5 american and normally a 38 louboutin fits me, but this seems bigger than normal…
Author
Hi Leanne! My guess is because the Pigalle is so pointed at the front, you lose toe space, which is why the shoe is cute a bit longer in length because it’s impossible to cram your toes into that tiny point. I don’t think anyone finds the Pigalle shoe comfortable, for me it’s one of the most painful shoes I own actually. It’s a shame because they are amazing shoes. Is it the toe area that hurts you or the fact there is a gap from your heel to the back of the shoe? 🙂
Hi Lorna! I have a pair of décolleté CLs that were perfect when I first got them but now that it’s been a little while they’ve stretched a bit and they’re practically unwearable because my heel won’t stay in them. I’m really hesitant to use heel grips or double sided tape because I don’t want to alter my expensive shoes by either having a permanent shoe insert or sticky residue left behind for tape…do you have any other suggestions? Great site btw…very informative! 🙂
Author
Hi! Wow you must have worn them loads! Unfortunately there is no way to grow your feet or really shrink a shoe so that’s why heel grips and tape are really the only options that work 🙁 I’m not sure if you took your shoes to a really good cobbler if he or she could professionally shrink them? You could try asking? Only go to one with a good reputation though, you don’t want one who will mess up your shoes at all 🙂
Yes, I’ve worn them about a dozen times but for usually 8 hours at a time since I wear them to work. Seems like the heel slipping while everything else is tight is a recurring theme…I wish there was another solution other than the standard heel liners…I do have a guy that does all of my shoe repairs…never thought to bring my CLs to him…I might just try that. Thanks!
Author
It’s worth a shot! I guess you have nothing to lose trying to see what he thinks at least! Heel grips are not that bad though, when you wear the shoes they don’t show or anything, they are pretty much invisible!
Hi Lorna,
So glad I found you! I am a CL virgin and I have been in love with an old style, the Gressimo 140 Suede Pumps, for a long time and finally found them on a website that delivers to Australia – my dilemma is I dont know what size to get. I am a Size 39 (Aus 8) in most shoes, but I can easily go up half or one size if they are narrow….. I have a wide foot but not a log foot and dont know what to do. The website only has Size 39 or Size 40 available – no half size. I dont want to spend the money only to find they are too tight or too big….. Do you have any advice for me? Thanks :o)
Author
Hi Dee! You are lucky to have found them! That style is fairly old now, where did you find them? Which website? If you have wider feet, I can pretty much guarantee you will find Louboutins painful. I have quite narrow thin feet and I still find most of his shoes painful in the toe box area, as do most ladies. I haven’t tried this exact style that you love as it’s too high for me. I think it’s beautiful though! Since it’s open toed, that always gives some room. I usually size down half a size from my usual CL size to fit his open toed shoes. But since you haven’t tried CL before, which brands are you a 39 in? Designer brands? I find I am a 39 in designer brands but I end up being more of a 40 in non designer brands and I fit a 39.5 – 40 in Louboutins. But let me know where you found them online? I haven’t seen them around in ages! 🙂
Thanks for such a quick response Lorna 🙂 Yes a very old style but I have been in love with them for just as long hehe….. I have some Guess shoes in which I am a 39 but in non-designer shoes I can vary from 39 to 39.5 – very rarely am I a 40 in non-designer since my prob is mostly width not length…. Do you think I could do the Size 40? Or would it be too long or since I have wider feet, d’u recommend not going the CL path due to the pain? Thanks so much for your help 🙂
ps: sorry, found them on sellchristianlouboutinsales.com 🙂
Author
Hey 🙂 The reason I checked the website was because those shoes are really not around anymore, and I am glad I did. This website isn’t real, it sells fake shoes, so all of those Louboutins are fakes and not the real ones. The style you mentioned isn’t on there either, but you can’t buy Louboutins for about $160, it’s just not possible. That saying about if it’s too good to be true, then it is, is true in this case. I’m sorry! But if you buy those, you wont get a pair of Louboutins, you will get a fake piece of rubbish that will break and that supports black market illegal sales. Just a note for the future, any website that has Louboutin in the title (which isn’t his actual official store) is a fake website selling fake shoes. Sorry! Hopefully you have better luck trying to find them, but at least you saved your money now!
OH MY GOSH! Thank you sooooo much for the warning Lorna – obviously I have no idea hehe…… I just figured the price was so so good because it was such an old style….. I will keep searching though coz I do love that style! In the meantime, are there any reputable sites that sell REAL CLs that you can recommend that will deliver to Australia? Thanks a million 🙂
Author
Hey! Of course, I think Net-A-Porter delivers to you, they have a great collection. Also TheOutnet.com, matches.com, and have you tried the Louboutin website? I know he ships to the US, Canada and Europe! And you are welcome. I always like to make sure I give my advice on authentic Louboutins as I am completely against fakes 🙂 also even old Louboutins never go that cheap either 🙁
Hi Lorna,
What CL do you recommend that doesn’t have such a narrow toe box? Any of them? I just bought my first pair of CL’s – Mater Claude and it’s very tight on my right foot, specifically in the toe area. Unfortunately I have big feet and I bought the 42’s so I can’t go bigger.
Author
Hi Mandy! Those ones are so pretty aren’t they?! You could try the Simple pump, that’s fairly round so it’s not too tight in the toe box!
Hi i want to purchase the no prive riche slingbacks n i was wondering are they true to size im a us 7 should i get the whole size which is 7 or half size which is 7.5. N they do have the peep toe but i dont have wide feet
Author
Hi nita, I haven’t actually tried that shoe so I am unsure how it runs. I know peep toes do give you some extra room though. Maybe run a search on the Christian Louboutin section of The Purse Forum, that will help!
Hi LOMA !! I am thinking of purchasing the LADY DAFFODILES in black (leather) I have NEVER owned any CL shoes be4. I wear a 9 1/2 In the U.S. I have really fat feet. I kno these shoes will hurt (as all high heels do) I just want to be able to make sure that they dont alter the appearance of my feet (as in blisters and toes bending back etc.) What size do u recommend I purchase so that I may have extra room in the front? that way my feet arent screaming that much?
Author
Hi Tyme! Did you mean flat feet or fat as in wide feet? Because if you have wide feet, I wouldn’t recommend the Lady Daffodiles, they will be so painful on your toes. I haven’t tried this style myself, so I am unsure how they run. If you buy a pair of his shoes with room in the front though, they wont fit you and will slip off your feet constantly, you would have to pad them out with heel grips and things and then the insole wont fit. I tried that with a pair of his boots that were really narrow, but my foot didn’t fit in them right and the insole hurt my foot as it stuck a lump in it unfortunately.
Good Morning Lorna,
Okey so I read through most of your advices and I am amazed by your patience to answer that “toe-box-dilema” over and over again, you should really send a letter to Mr. Louboutin and advise him to do something about the pain he causes to his fan’s! 😉
Anyway, I also bought my third pair last February in Paris, most of my shoes are a 39, the one I bought was a (Yolanda patent nude), a drop dead sexy peep-toe… my feet were probably cold or shrink due to the winter-season, because I purchased a 38.5 which fit perfectly, the 39 I slipped out when I walked around the store. – Now I did not wear them until first time 3 weeks ago and ouch although they only carried me into the restaurant and out, I had to ask my husband to carry me on his back, back to our car – ha ha ha, that must have been a funny impression I made.
Now okay my feet seem to be swollen in spring – don’t want to imagine what happens in summer, but honestly should I have purchased the 39 one and worked with all the tips you are giving the other ladies (heel grips and gel soles), or should I not give up and wear socks to widen the toe box?
Just because I am curious, has anyone ever asked herself if the celebrities have the same problem with CL shoes, do they have someone wear them out for them, cause I cannot imagine JLo, Cameron, Demi or anyone in Hollywood walking around in socks with the until they are comfy, or do they just wear them bigger and work with all the tricks….
Author
Hi Dayana! That’s good of you to have taken the time to read all of the comments lol! There seem to be loads 🙂 It’s definitely a common problem. Yeah the heat and seasons do really change your feet, I think they can change almost a full size from winter to summer. For me though I don’t have this issue as I have bad circulation and my feet are always freezing cold unfortunately (even in summer) so they don’t change size. Since the Yolanda are a peep toe (and gorgeous by the way) would you wear them more in the spring and summer? Because it’s warmer? If so, maybe you should go up a size? Peep toes generally do give more room though, so you could try stretching them. But if you can’t even walk in them because it’s agony, the stretching wont work enough for them to be comfortable unfortunately!
Hi Lorna,
I just received my first pair of CL’s today as a gift from a special friend!! They are the Rolando Black Patent and are GORGEOUS, however, like with the rest of EVERYONE on here, they are so tight in the tow box. I love the toe cleavage for sure but my poor piggies are dying. I’ve only worn then around the office today and had to take them off and put them back on to give my toes a break. My left foot slips out of the shoe also so I would not be able to go a half size up as this would really keep them from staying put on my feet. I will try the sock trick and really hope it works. I can’t bare to think of returning them and cutting off a toe or two really shouldn’t be an option so we’ll see LOL I am a 6.5US with more of a wider foot than narrow and the shoes are a 36.5…do you really think the patent with give some?? Thanks for this blog and info, i feel like I’m now apart of an elite shoe club!!! 🙂
Author
Hi Monica 🙂 I know what you mean! I did have a pair of Rolando’s and I had so much pain with them that I sold them, they are a very tight toe box shoe, even for people with narrower feet like myself struggle with them. Patent doesn’t stretch out as much as regular leather, but it’s always worth trying it. You could try getting them professionally stretched as well?
hi i want to get my first cl but i am ordering the dafodil in nude i am a true 9.5 should i go a 1/2 size bigger please help
Author
Hi! CL seem to run a little differently to the other brands, but I am unsure exactly on the Daffodils. Maybe you can ask on The Purse Forum in the Louboutin section. Those ladies can help you out!
hi Loma! I got my second pair of CL’s this past week. I have the prive peep toe pump in a 39.5. I got the simple pump in black in the same size. I wore them out one night and now they feel very tight. I am a us size 9. Did I get the wrong size? I hope they will stretch out, and I am considering taking them to the cobbler to have them stretched. Thank you!
Elsa
Author
Hi Elsa! Usually peep toes give about half a size or a little bit more in length because the toe box isn’t as restricted as closed toe pumps. That might be why the Simple’s feel tight on you in comparison. It also depends on your feet, if they are hot they will be more swollen so they wont fit in the shoes well, but if they are cold or normal temperature, they will fit fine. How tight are they? Are they really painful? And did you get patent or nappa?
Hi Lorna,
Have been scrolling through your blog with much interest! I have a pair of the Big Stack 120 which I’ve worn a couple of times. The first few without any padding, etc then I got some heel grips which seemed to help, but I can’t seem to stop one foot from rising out of the shoe when I’m wearing them. First I thought this was just that they were slightly too high for me perhaps, but I have a pair of Kurt Geigers for work which do the same, I appear to have a much narrower ankle on my left foot! Do you think that using a foot petal perhaps on that one foot to drive my foot up?
Any advice, much appreciated!
Nic
Author
Hi Nic! I feel your pain because I too have narrow ankles, which I am sure you know from reading the post. You could try a foot petal to push your foot back, however I don’t know if it will work, because your ankle is narrow, pushing it back probably wont make it stay in the shoe because it’s still narrow, the heel of the shoe wont grip to your foot. You could try the tape thing that I do, that works really well for me because my issue is so bad that neither of my feet stay in my shoes with any step I take lol. The only thing is, it does leave a small bit of sticky residue on the back of the heel.
I’ve got the heel grips so I imagine that the tape would stick to that as much as it would the shoe so that shouldn’t be a problem. Would you put the tape on the sides of the heel to encourage it to stay put???
Author
I put the tape exactly where the heel grip goes, so you see where the heel grip is stuck on my pink shoe, that’s where I put the strip of tape, you could try that?
Thanks! Will do – i’ve just ordered some of the foot petals and will grab some of the tape next time i’m in town! Will let you know, hoping to wear them on Sunday for a longer much more comfortable time!
Author
Hopefully they work out! Let me know if they do, I’m sure all of my readers and myself would love to know! I don’t often get follow up stories!
Hi, just thought I’d update you! I got a great pair on leather insoles in the end from Harvey Nichols in Bristol! They said they were stocking a larger footcare range due to stocking LK Bennett. Anyway, wore them out on Sunday, worked a treat. Even manged to have a little dance, wouldn’t have thought that a few weeks ago! Also had a little treat being a pair of patent piou piou’s in hot pink, exclusive to HN! Very excited, picking them up tomorrow as my size is coming from another store! Thanks for your help x
Author
Oh thanks for letting me know Nicola! That’s great you got the insoles to work, I had no idea they stocked leather insoles, I suppose those would have more grip! I’m glad it worked out! The hot pink colour is amazing too!
Hi lorna, i went to CL in London to get fitted properly, I picked the pigalle with no platform, im a size 8 normally, and these were too big for me, the shop said you normally go down max of 2 sizes in this type shoe has its so high or you will have gap and it will slip, believe it or not they recommended a size 6, there was no gap but after short time crikey my toes go numb its pretty painful, CL shop said there not to walk around in there to get from the taxi to the club lol I do advise not to take off in night and put back on as this makes pain worse, any tips for a comfy feel on toe area? Thanks
Author
Hi Carrie! Unfortunately there is no way to wear Pigalle without pain at all. I have the same problem with my Pigalle and they literally kill my toes, it’s horrible! Sorry, but because they are so pointy, there is no way to stop the pain 🙁 It’s heartbreaking I know 🙁
Question, I just purchased a pair of banana suede peep tie loubs and I am normally an U.S 8. One foot is bigger than the other as most ppl. But I ordered in a 38.5 and when I got them the foot that is smaller had a little space in the back. Not big at all. The foot that a bit bigger fit perfect. The toe box was very tight. Oh I should mention I have wide feet. When I first tried them on I thought maybe I should get a 39 but I read your reviews here Me tried the sock thing and I must admit within 10 of wearing them the did stretch. To the point were the foot that is bigger was flopping just a little. Not a lot. But the toebox is still very tight. Will it stretch more? Should I get a bigger size? What would you recommend?? Thx in advance.
Author
Hi! If they are loose already at the back, definitely don’t get a bigger size because they wont fit at all then on the smaller foot. I would recommend sticking with the sock, but don’t wear the sock all the way on, maybe just wear the sock around the toes. That should help stretch the toe box and not the rest of the shoe, does that help?
Hi, so I just bought the lady peep spikes. I’m normally a 9.5/10 and I bought them in the 40.5 since the 10 felt too small & the 11 felt too big. I tried them on in the store & they felt fine, but now I feel like my toes are squished. they’re very painful!! the sock trick seems to be a good idea, except if they hurt without socks how am I gonna stick my foot in there with socks?! you think it’ll help?! I really want to start wearing them!
Author
Hi Marlene! The sock trick is definitely not for the light hearted, I wont lie, it hurts a lot! Your toes might actually go numb, but if you want them to stretch out then it really is the only quick way to do it at home. You could just try it out, see how it goes, if it becomes to painful then take it off, stuff a big rolled up sock in the toe box to keep it stretched and then try again once the pain stops. That’s how I do it. I find it so funny the things we put ourselves through for shoes!
That is helpful Lorna. Thx. So I just didnt know if suede peep toe box stretches. And even if I went up in size the width would still be the same. Since the toebox is the biggest problem. My feet are flat and wide.
Author
Suede takes quite a long time to stretch actually, much longer than regular leather because it’s thicker. It might be a lot harder to stretch out. I’ve found though that half a size doesn’t make much difference for me in the toe box, it’s usually around the same width. Are they really really painful?
No not really. I can easily get my feet in. My toes just feel squished being pressed against the toe box. Mainly the last three toes. My two front toes don’t hurt too much because the have room from the peep toe. Which I think is the perfect length because my big toe and the one next to it have alittle space and are not hanging over the open peep. I have more pressure in my feet than actual pain but I think after wearing for too long would cause pain or even numbness. The side my my feet hold a lot of pressure because I have wide feet. Do you think I could have the toe box professionally stretched. Or endure the pain until they stretch on there on. And lastly should I have just gotten a 39. 😕
Author
I don’t think you should get a bigger size because with peep toe shoes, you always size down because of the open toe. Your feet wouldn’t fit correctly in a bigger size I don’t think, especially if the ones you have now fit perfectly. They are brand new so they do have a lot of breaking in to do and a lot of stretching, it’s a bit like jeans, you buy them tight and they stretch out with wear, but this is more painful and a longer process lol! If you can endure the sock trick for a while, see how it goes, you have nothing to lose, you can just test it out and if you feel like it’s not working, you can get them professionally stretched, but definitely be sure to go to a good cobbler who knows what they are doing 🙂
Thxs so much!!! Very informative. I was will keep them and just keep wearing the socks as recommended. Thx again. :-).

You are very welcome! 🙂
Hello! I wanted to buy the pigalle in nude for my wedding but they told me they are out of stock and discontinued. I went to a store and tried the Rolando ones, they fitted really really small. I am normally a 7.5 or 8 (US) and I tried them in 38 (they fitted really small) and the 39 (they fitted big). I couldn’t tru the 38.5 because they didn’t had them.
The problem is that I live in Mexico and a friend of mine is buying them for me at San Francisco. She could’t find the pigalle but found the corneille. I doubt about which size to buy because in CL webpage says the corneille fits true to size and the Rolando runs small. Do I have to buy them in the real 8 US (38) or half size bigger?
I really appreciate your help because I don’t want to spend $645 US in a pair of shoes I will never wear again and be crying in my own wedding because of the pain!
Thank you very much!
Author
Hi! I’m not sure what to suggest because Rolando is one of the most painful shoes! It hurts so much, I couldn’t walk in mine, but I have Pigalle too and that hurts 50 times worse than Rolando. Pigalle is not a walking shoe at all so you are lucky you didn’t go with those! I haven’t tried Corneille myself, but since it’s really pointy just like Pigalle, I can imagine it being very painful. I wouldn’t recommend any small toe box/pointy Louboutin shoes for your wedding, your feet will be in agony. I would suggest something simpler with a more rounded toe, I know they are not as pretty, but the part about you mentioning you don’t want to be crying at your wedding in pain, that will most likely happen with his pointy toe shoes. There is no way around it. I’m sorry! I just don’t want to suggest something to you in sizing when I know it will cause you pain. What about the Simple pump or or a peep toe so it has more room in the toe box?
Hey Lorna. I recently got the patent biancas. I was between the 38 and 38.5. The sales girl told me to get them as snug as possible so I ended up with the 38. But as I’m wearing them at home to try to break them in my toes are squished pretty bad that they are almost numb after wearing them for only an hour. I keep hearing that they stretch but want to be sure that what I’m experiencing is normal. I also don’t want to get them too big either. I would really appreciate your advice on this. Thanks 🙂
Author
Hi Marissa 🙂 I love Bianca I think they are gorgeous! They definitely will stretch, but do they fit perfectly on your feet? Does your foot arch sit in the correct place on the insole? So there is no gap at the back and it fits smooth all the way down? They do sound fairly tight in the toe box though, have you tried the sock trick yet?
I haven’t tried the sock yet but my toes are right at the end of the shoe. There is no space at the back so the shoe. Will they stretch out so that my toe isn’t right at the end or should I get the half size up?
Author
They usually stretch in width, not length. I haven’t had any of my shoes stretch in length so if the tip of your toe is against the end of the shoe, they might be too small. How did the half a size up feel? Was it loose?
The half size up felt good. They weren’t too loose either. The louboutin boutique also gave me a card to go to a leather maker to get them stretched but I’m not sure how I feel about taking a brand new pair of Louboutins there to get stretched out before I have even really worn them.
Author
It is a tough decision. I usually base mine on how much I plan on wearing them. If I know I wont wear them much or often at all, then I always pick the bigger size because I’m obviously not going to wear them enough to stretch them out, but if they would be a shoe I wore a lot, it might be worth trying to stretch them out as much as you can.
Hi I just got my 1st pair in the mail today, the Piagalle, I bought the 37 & 1/2 even though I’m a regular 38, i was told they run big so I should go down a size. I put them on and they go on but they feel a bit tight, would the sock trick work, is stretching them a good idea?
Author
Hi Lauren, if you can walk in them and they feel just a bit tight then the sock trick will work. If they are really painful and you can’t move in them then I would say get a bigger size. Hope that helps!
I can walk in them they’re just a little bit tight. so the sock trick should be fine
Author
That’s good to know!
Lauren, do you got the Piagalle 120? because i got the same size then you and just ordered a pair of those and i ordered in a 38 but the CL page said or recommend it me in a 37.
hi need a little bit of help i am buying my first pair of cl. im an australian size 7-7.5 what size would u suggest. i dont want to waste my money on ordering the wrong size. thankyou
Author
Hi emma! I can’t answer that one really as his shoes run differently, I have some in 39 and some in 40.5 as they vary. What style is it?
Hey Lorna I wrote you about one month ago about my peep toe suede loubies. The toe box was really tight. Well thx to ur recommendation of the sock trick and hand stretching the toe box the fight just right. THANKS!!! :-). So now I’m purchasing my next pair and my last one were a 38 1/2. They were the suede peep toe pumps. Which is a cross between bianca and very prive. So my question is do you have any info about the patent leather filo? Im getting a 39. Since its harder to stretch out patent leather (Right?? :-/…). What are your thoughts. Oh and I wear a US 8. But in loubs the more narrow I’ve felt more comfortable in 39. My feet are wide and flat. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks in advance. :-).
Author
Hi 🙂 I’m glad the stretching worked out for you! Not many people come back to tell me! I think patent leather is much easier to stretch than suede, I always have issues trying to stretch suede shoes out, but with patent I find it easy because the material is thin. If your peep toes were a 38.5 then I probably would suggest taking the 39 like you say. Peep toes always run bigger because there is a hole at the toe area, so you can afford to size down half in those, but when they are closed toe like the Filo’s, I always find they are smaller fitting than peep toes. So I think a 39 might work for you. Can you exchange them if not? 🙂
Yes as long as I don’t wear them. So if they are tight do the sock trick? Would you recommend any other method primarily for patent?
Author
Yeah try the sock trick as long as the length is ok on them! I wouldn’t recommend anything else for patent as with experience patent stretches really well for me! Good luck!
Hi Lauren,
I just bought the Daffodile lady glitter half size smaller, which is a 37 rather than getting a 37 and half. After buying it, I realized it’s too tight in the toe area and I feel like Im going to fall a lot of times. Is this normal? do u think I should change it for a half size bigger?
help ! 🙁
Author
Hi Noura, how are they length wise? Do they fit the length of your foot? 🙂
Hey Lorna,
Sooo I finally got my filos today and I got a size 39. I have wide feet and I could slip them on easily and the sides of my feet didnt hurt one bit. However. My left foot which is smaller than the right. I could put my entire finger in the back of my shoe. I have that much space that is showing. I can squeeze my finger in my right shoe as well. It fits alittle more snug but I can flop out of the other easily. In order not to I have to try and keep my foot in my shoe. The amount of open space from the heel of my foot to the back of the shoe is quite noticeable. These are patent leather so what do u think? My banana peep toes were 38.5 but they were narrow. I’m not sure how the 38.5 in this style would be. I do however love the fact that the sides of my feet don’t hurt in these shoes. But how good is that if I’m flopping all day. Please help. Thx. :-(.
Author
Oh no I_luv_ya! That’s no good. If you can fit your finger in there they must be too big, I would say size down. That’s weird as they must run big for Louboutin shoes, either that or the peep toes run smaller, as usually there is always a difference in sizing between the peep toe and closed toes. Are you able to return them? It seems like they should still be comfortable in width even with a smaller size as they look wider than the peep toes? 🙂
Hey Lorna so I have ordered a size down 38.5. Fingers crossed they fit. I don’t wanna go too small. I can fit my entire point finger inside the back of the shoe in the size 39. So I’m hoping a 38.5 is better. I think a 38 might run too small. I should be receiving them in a few days. Praying it all works out. 🙂 will update once I get them. :-).
Author
Good luck with them! I hope they work out for you 🙂 🙂
Hi! I purchased the daffodiles in a size 5.5 and it was a little too big and then so I got a 5 and there’s still a little gap in the back. So I was thinking of just getting a size 4 since they don’t have a size 4 1/2 do you think that’s a good idea? But I’m afraid it’ll be WAY too small.
Author
Hi Jenny, where did you get them from? If they have a good return policy then you could try it, but I think maybe a whole size down, if they are only a small bit loose, might be too much and they might be too tight? How big is the gap?
I purchased them from the store. It’s a little loose in the back but the front fits fine. My finger can fit in the gap but only a little. Size 5.5 I can stick my whole finger in it. So I really don’t know what to do. Cause I’ve returned it twice already! And I’m afraid a size 4 will be too small BUT I read your comments and you say it stretches out a lot. So I don’t know! :/
Author
Hi Jenny, they only stretch width ways, they wont stretch out length ways really, the length of the shoe in my experience is permanent, you can’t stretch it. If you bought them in the store, maybe you could literally just ask to try the 4? Then you can see if it fits or not, if it does then you could exchange it and if it doesn’t, keep the ones you have now and pad them out if you love them too much to part with them, maybe padding would make them work? It’s always tricky with shoes too big, more often than not you don’t end up wearing them. Perhaps they could order you a 4.5 in?
Oh okay and in stores the smallest they carry is a size 35.5 for the daffodiles so I’ll have to wait for a store to restock if they even carry a size 4 to send to me again which sucks! And they don’t make size 4 1/2 for the daffs 🙁
Author
Oh no that’s really bad, I hope you are able to find them! 🙁
Thank you! So I went to get the Dr. Scholls heel grips and when I put it on the back of the heel I kept on having to take it off and placing it back on to make sure I did it right and that it fitted and the fur or whatever that is on the back kept ripping off and was on the sticker! Will my heels be ok? I’m so paranoid lol first pair of loubs!
Author
That happens to me, that’s the inside of the suede, I have parts of it missing too on my own shoes, I don’t mind it. I don’t think it hurts the shoes, I think it just depends on whether or not you mind that some gets ripped off?
Hi Lorna!
I don’t know if this has been asked before (your post is very popular!) but I just ordered a size 36 nude Bianca 140mm. I am usually a size 6, and right now, the 36 fits perfectly, with maybe a tiny bit of a slip at the heel. Should I worry that they will stretch and be too big? Thank you!
Author
Hi Em! That will depend on how much you wear them. If you plan on wearing them a lot, they will probably stretch out. But if you plan on wearing them just for special occasions, they ‘should’ be ok. Great shoes though, I love the Bianca!
Ive just bought the new filo 120mm patent leather in both the black and the nude… im normally a uk 7 which were slipping off my feet in the store so i bought a 6.5 which stay on but with mega toe and heel pain. the heel of the shoe is so low down my heel as well that it cuts through the middle. Any experiences with filo? i fear the sock trick isnt working due to the lack of depth around the heel and the tightness around the shoe box.
Author
Hi Joanna, I haven’t tried the Filo, that’s a style I’ve never put on my feet even though it’s gorgeous. How low are they? Is it really half way down your heel? That sounds really bad. I can’t imagine that being comfortable and staying on your feet. Where did you get them from? I know the classic colours like black and nude are always hard to come by!
yeah it is, its not where it should be. the back of the shoe doesnt meet where it should, maybe not quite halfway down but the feeling it gives is that you want to push your foot down more in the hope there is more depth but there isnt. im wondering whether to exchange them for the 40 and try the heel grips. when i tired the simple pump they felt perfect, and filo is very similar but deceivingly narrower and less of a toe box. i bought them from Cruise Clothing they dont do refunds only exchanges and i only have 2 weeks. i wonder if louboutin direct will exchange them as they have more variety. they are in perfect condition only worn on carpet. the issue is the black are my wedding shoes and they were my ideal! i just worry i exchange for the 40 and they stretch even more but i cant ever really know about the 39.5 until i wear them out, catch-22
the weird thing is i have just changed from the black to the nude, bare in mind they are both the same size and the nude is so much more comfortable and nowhere near as tight, the black literally left a shoe mark all the way around my foot and over my toes and the nude now feel much more comfy than the black which is crazy
Author
That’s rubbish they don’t do refunds, I worry the 40 would be too big on you as well. That’s not uncommon that the nude fit you better at all. All of his shoes are hand made so every single pair fits differently in some way or another. Maybe if you tried another 39.5 in black, they would fit better. I’ve had to do that before. I tried a pair on in store to see how they fitted, then I ordered them online and they fitted a lot differently. Maybe you could switch to nude for your wedding? Or do the black go with the whole outfit? Congratulations on getting married by the way!
thanks! yeah it has to be black unfortunately. the nude are for pre wedding events, (poor excuse for a second purchase really) i think mainly what i need to try and be sure of is if its normal for the toe pain, i can handle the heel blister because i imagine that will go. its just the toe pain is almost like a burn after a while, similar to that of the pain you would get on the balls of your feet. if i know that will eventually go i will power through. i also worry the 40 will be too big, it definately is on my left foot, but then i didnt know that heel grips even existed, i assume they serve a two in one purpose as they look like they could also add comfort to stop heel blisters. ahhh i just dont know what to do first.
Author
Heel grips are good, but I find them annoying, they don’t sit on my heels very well, but that’s because I have narrow heels myself. That pain is what I get, especially in Pigalle and Declic, it hurts so much, it’s like all the blood has been lost from your toes an then it comes back to life so that’s what that pain is. It’s not nice. So far mine have not stretched enough to make it comfortable. It’s rubbish. Maybe think about it or re-considering a different shoe for your wedding. I was thinking, do you really want to be in foot agony on your wedding day? It might ruin your day and make you grumpy. I know I get really angry when shoes hurt my feet and they ruin the day for me.
Hey I wanna purchase the leopard print daffodils im a 7.5 in US Shoe size what size would I need to get?
Author
Hi Belma, it varies, his shoes are not really ever exactly the same size. I think a 7.5 in US sizing is around a 38 in European sizing. I found that on a chart, but like I said, his shoes vary so much, sorry!
***Update on the C.L Filos*** Hey Lorna, everyhing finally worked out. The 39’s in the filos were too too big so I ordered the 38.5 which fit perfect. They are a bit high to walk in and hurt a tab bit but not a lot. I sent back the 39 and finally got my refund the other day. I waited until I received the 38.5. Finally almost 1 month and its all finally right. Thank for you help.
Hi Lorna,
I’m glad I found your blog :). I bought a pair of simple 100mm pumps in nude color nearly two years ago in a size 40, and they fit fine. However, I just bought another pair of the same style in black color, and the size 40 seemed smaller than my previous pair, so I ended up buying the 40.5 which has a tiny gap at the back of my left foot (which I do not like because I am very picky on not having space at the back). I contemplating exchanging them for the size 40 even though they were tight. Is it usual that the same style could differ in size? Thanks a lot!
Author
Hi Sarah, yes definitely. All of his shoes are hand made, so it’s rare you will find two in the same style that fit identical. I never have. Perhaps you could try a different size 40 in the black and see how they are? Maybe the colour of the leather might make them smaller too. I have 3 Declics, one in Pink, one in Cramberry and one in Fuxia suede, all vary in size. The Cramberry are the loosest, the pink are in the middle and the suede I had to go up half a size and they are still tight. So perhaps see if you could try a few different 40s if that is possible. If not, you could always stretch them out 🙂
I have had my LB’s for over 3 years and never wore then out because they were sooooo painfully tight.
YOUR SOCK TRICK WORKED!!!!
You are a miracle worker!!! Thank-you thank-you THANK-YOU!!!

Glad it worked Laura!!
Hi Lorna, hope all is well!! yesterday, i bought a Bianca 140mm CL’s, usually my shoe size is 38 european, however; i have tried size 38 for louboutin shoes and and my feet is going up abit while walking. The staff told me to take the 37.5 as it will be stretched but its some how tight on the sides and the small toe. pleasseee helpp meee as i have only 2 days to exchange it !!! awaiting for your kind reply. Thanks :)!
Author
Hi rola 🙂 how tight is it? Can you walk in them comfortably with just a little but if pain or is the 37.5 so painful you can’t walk? I wasn’t sure if you bought the 37.5 or 38 though?
Yeah, i can walk in them but with a little pain on the sides . usually, i wear 38 european(from other brand) but i bought 37.5 hence they advised me in the shop that the shoes will be stretched because its leather!!! i have tried 38 its comfortable but while walking my feet was coming out a bit thats why they advised me to buy the 37.5. please let me know if i took the right decision 🙂 🙂 thanks!

Yeah you took the right decision 🙂 If you can walk and it’s only a little bit painful then that’s fine, they will stretch. Try the sock trick for a while and see how that helps 🙂
thanks alooott Lorna for your help 🙂 🙂

You are welcome 🙂 🙂
I just purchased my very first pair of CL’s. I bought the Daffy in black suede. I LOVE them, however the toe box is exremely tight, very painful and heels hurt. I normally wear a 9 US but i figured that they would run small so i bought a 40 EUR ( 10 US) in the hopes that they would be slightly big. No such luck. I will try the sock and maybe also the double sock trick. I soooo hope it works bc these shoes are to die for and I only have a 7 day exchange period. This blog was extremely helpful and I’m so glad I found it.
My new CL’s ( Daffy Black Suede 160mm heel with 2,5 in platform) seem to be “slippery” when I walk. I’m so afraid I’m going to fall. Any suggestions?
Author
All of his soles are really slippery as they are just red leather, you can get people who will put a sole grip on, it’s a piece of rubber the same size as the sole in red, so you wont notice it, but it gives you grip, that’s the only thing I can suggest. I hope the sock trick works for you too!
I am so glad that I found this article! I actually got my first pair of awesomely cute black suede peep toe, Christian Louboutin shoes from an auction that I won on Ebay. Of course I could not send them back, but after walking around in socks for a few hours they fit perfectly.
Author
Glad that worked out! Did you get them from an authentic seller or from someone else?
Hi!! Thank you for your blog..it’s a godsend! So I fell in love with CL black patent pigalle 120 years ago & have not been able to find any, anywhere. Never tried them on bc ive only seen them in pictures, never in stores. I finally came across a brand new pair on Ebay & bought them at a steal. I’m so happy & don’t want to sell them but they are HUGE! I’m normally a 37.5 in Loubs but these are so big, huge heel gap & I know they will stretch. The toe box is fine bc I have narrow feet but I can’t walk in them. Im going to try all of you suggestion but if they stretch i will be misearable. Please help!!
Author
Hi! I just wanted to check that you got an authentic pair? Purely because Pigalle generally run small, no big and they are very very hard to come by so it’s not often you would find them at such a good price 🙂 I was just checking as I would hate to give advice and it didn’t help if they weren’t real 🙂 no rudeness intended at all!
I feel very glamourous as I write this, with my Pigalle 100mm in black leather and socks on hahahaha. I bought them for a wedding next Saturday and the girls at the store kindly stretched them a little bit with a shoe stretcher for a few days and I’ve been wearing with socks at home but I still don’t see much of a stretching on the toe box. Anyway, I’m not up for removing my pinky toes so I’ll keep with the sock technique!
I read about filling them with water on a plastic bag and putting them in the freezer but I don’t think I like the idea very much. I just hope to be able to walk in them without dying or anything
Author
Oh gosh no I wouldn’t fill a bag with water, imagine if it burst! Your shoes would be ruined! Plus I’m not sure that putting them in the freezer would be good for the leather in general? It may ruin the grain of it somehow. Pigalle’s are gorgeous, I love them, but they really are his most painful shoe ever!
I have just bought the Rolando in black patent and they have an in built heel gripper??. Am not sure if this is more uncomfortable or not i have not worn them out yet but i did not notice this on the picture online. They are quite snug but i know my feet are quite narrow around the heel area and with other shoes i do tend to have a problem of them slipping off. They just feel quite a shallow shoe?? I just don’t know whether i should cut it
Author
Hi Lisa, they don’t have a built in heel gripper, none of his shoes do, plus I don’t think the Rolando is available anymore, it’s a really old shoe of his. Do you know where you bought them from? I can check it out for you and see what’s up with them 🙂
I bought them from CLs website, i had trouble paying for them so had to do the transaction over the phone so i know they are genuine as i had authorize payments with my bank plus i tracked them from Milan (i worry too about fakes but my friend has a pair and they came with all the correct documents). Anyway i contacted them about this heel strap and it is a new thing in some shoes. i wore them for the first time out the other week after walking round the house in them for a few hours each night with the strap in and i couldn’t keep them on my feet so next time i had them on i bought some gel heel grippers and put them over the top of the strap which worked brill so i have since cut the strap off and will just stick with grippers.
I just bought the Rolando in Black patent Neimans and it had a heel strap as well.. it feels too tight in the toe area and was wondering if i cut the strap will it give me a lil more room..im already up a half size..or should I just take it back for another style
Author
It has a heel strap? That’s so strange, I haven’t ever noticed that before, maybe it’s a new thing to be secure on the foot. Is there another style you love more?
I’m trying to break in my black Rolando soft leather shoes to wear in my sister’s wedding this weekend. I purchased them at Neiman Marcus last week (they have the heel strap too… trying to figure out if I like it or not). I’m trying the sock trick right now and hoping it gives me some more room in the toes. They look absolutely beautiful and fit like a glove, but unless I can break them in soon, I don’t think I’ll be able to bear wearing them though the wedding photos before the ceremony even starts! This is my first pair and it sounds like I picked a tough pair to start out on, but these shoes are amazing and I would love to keep them, unlike the Rolando patent leather version of this shoe, which had no give and felt horrible from the moment I put them on. (The patent ones also had the heel strap – the salesman said they’re really new and that the strap is there for a more secure fit and keep your heel from rubbing against the back of the shoe.)
Author
Thanks for clearing up the heel strap issue! I wondered if it was a new thing they added. I hope you are able to break in, but like you already know the Rolando is a very tough shoe, it’s not comfortable for the majority of people. Especially myself, they hurt my feet and were way too high unfortunately for me, but they are absolutely stunning!
I wore my Rolando’s for the first time out the other week after walking round the house in them for a few hours each night with the strap in and i couldn’t keep them on my feet so next time i had them on i bought some gel heel grippers and put them over the top of the strap which worked brill so i have since cut the strap off because it kept pushing the gripper off. I will just stick with gel heel grippers.
Author
That sounds like a good alternative, I never got on well with the gel ones, they always slip off my feet, so I use the foam ones if I have to. Thanks for updating!
hey friend! thanks for ur info’s! but i just bought my first Louboutin, i’m size 35, i bought 36, they’re a bit bigger for me! so what to do 🙁 i want them to fit plzz help !!
Author
Hi Lolo, can you exchange them for a smaller size? 🙂
unfortunately not!! they are pigalle christian louboutin 120inch. any other way?
Author
Oh that’s a shame, usually all the stores have a return policy though. Did it go over time? Unfortunately it’s really hard to make big shoes fit. How big are they?
well, not too much but a little bit, i heard about insole ?
Author
Yeah insoles can work, but they also raise your feet up. You could try foam heel grips too?
alright! i’ll try it, thank you doll.
Author
Good luck with them!
Hi Lorna,
My boyfriend had decided to get me CL for my birthday, originally he got me the Bianca patent leather in a size 37 1/2 which is my normal shoe size but it was too small. So we went back to Saks and the lady told us to get a 38 1/2 cause they run big. Which we did but that ended up being too big so we returned it. Now we’re thinking of getting the Bianca suede or leather in a size 38. Do you think it will fit? Also does it matter if its patent leather, leather or suede? I have really wide feet! 🙁 please help thanks.
Author
Hi Cindy! Unfortunately Louboutins are never made for wider feet, it’s absolutely rubbish because it seems like his shoes only ever fit the skinniest of feet, so so many people have pain issues, myself included and I have a regular foot width. The difference between the materials is that normal leather would probably be the most comfortable as it has a lot of stretch and give to it, patent would be a bit stiffer and suede even more stiffer. I would personally recommend getting regular leather, or patent if you prefer it, as suede is hard to stretch out. Normal leather is the easiest. Also, it’s hard to judge on a size without trying them as every pair of CL shoes are made by hand and each one fits differently, I’ve tried a couple of 39.5 in the same shoe and they both fitted slightly differently. I would suggest going to the store and seeing what you are comfortable with 🙂
Hi Lorna,
Thanks for the advise, I guess I’ll go for the leather instead of suede. As for trying them on, I don’t know About that. The last time I had gone to Saks they weren’t very accommodating. So this time we want to try Neiman Marcus. I had looked on the CL site and they’re sold out of my size there :(. I hope it fits. Thanks!
Author
You are welcome Cindy 🙂 I hope it goes well! I think it’s bad that sales assistants can be rude or unhelpful when you are thinking about spending so much money there.
Thanks Lorna, I hope it goes well too. I can’t agree more but there will always be those type of sales rep :/ sigh.
Thanks again Lorna
Author
That Is so true! I don’t know how they expect to make a sale with rudeness! Good luck!
Hi! I’m going to be ordering the Banane in black patent from another country as it’s sold out everywhere in the UK. I’m a UK 5 with really narrow feet and heels. I tend to be a 38 in most Louboutins but usually find they slip at the back. Some people have told me that the Banane runs big so I’m worried that if I get a 38 it will be too loose on me. Have you ever tried this style? Many thanks.
Author
Hi, no I haven’t tried it but from experience the peep toes do run big. I always take a half a size down in peep toes as there is extra space at the front. Hope that helps!
Thanks, Lorna. The annoying thing is, the Banane has sold out in the half size down. I would have to get my true size 38. I really love these shoes. Just out of interest, which peeptoes do you own or have you tried?
Author
I think they possibly might be too big if you got your regular size? I have the Altadama in Rouge, but I had to go a full size down in those ones, I also have the Treopli, but since those were a boot, I stuck with my regular size, but all the pump type peep toes everyone seems to need to go down in.
Hi, I just bought my first pair two days ago. Pigalle black leather 120 (and just read they bring the most pain- very nice 😉 I normally have a 37 but as they left me with a big gap at the back I went with a 36 (they didn’t have a 36 1/2) They felt fine in the store (that seems to happen a lot…do they put something in the air or is it the adrenaline you get from being in the presence of georgeous shoes???), but in the comfort of my home they do hurt. It feels like I’m not even putting pressure on my little toe, it’s just squeezed in there. I am wearing them with socks on, as we speak, to stretch them a bit. Hope it works….I would like to look smashing on New Years eve
Author
Good luck with them 🙂 Yeah I know what you mean, they do feel different in the shop. I put it down to the really thick carpets they have on the floor, they cushion some of the pain. Plus you don’t wear them for a long time in the store, only briefly. I hope they stretch out for you!
Day 2 finished, feet HURT!!! But allready making progress…no pain, no gain I guess…
Time for the next problem, the heelslip. Does the double sided tape also work when wearing stockings? And will the stockings survive? Bought some with a red seam to go with the CL…hope te wear them more than once….
Author
Hi Frauke! I haven’t tried them with stockings or tights, I don’t know if it would stick though, I have no idea. Perhaps try it first with an older pair and see? Although the tape will make a bit of sticky patch on the inside of your shoes when you remove it, just warning you in advance!
Victory is mine! They fit very nice now! Thanks a million for the tips!
Now to find the fashion tape, not easy in Belgium, so it seems….
Author
Toucan order online or double sided tape works too!
Hi Lorna,
I just found you blog..amazing! I just got the Christian Louboutin Very Prive Leopard Lame 120 and I LOVE how they look! I have 2 issues however…tight toe box and heel slip due to my very narrow heel. 🙁 I am normally a 7.5 and I got the 37.5. Did I get the right size in the Very Prive? Can I stretch the Lame fabric with the sock trick or shoe stretcher? Thanks! Xo
UPDATE! Your Fashion Tape worked like a DREAM! Thank you, that issue is solved. Now all I have to figure out is how is if the Lame Very Prive will stretch in the toe box and peep toe hole as it is it pinches?
Author
Hi! Glad the fashion tape worked for you! How tight are they? I find peep toes ok to stretch you can tug a bit at the opening as well but be careful not to miss shape it 🙂
On a scale from 1 to 10 ….10 being tightest…like a 7 or 8? My 3rd toe is the one suffering the most. LOL! Have you heard of anyone stretching Lame Very Prive? Have you ever used a shoe stretcher?
Author
I haven’t used a shoe stretcher but I used the shoe stretching spray which works a bit! I’ve not heard of anyone stretching these but every CL is stretchable really!
I thought I would share this photo for all of us ladies who are jealous that Blake Lively has the perfect foot for Loubs! Look at how huge she wore this pair! Her left foot isn’t even in the shoe. 🙂
http://www1.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Blake+Lively+Christian+Louboutin+Christian+K5T_dvrVMg0x.jpg
I was scrolling through photos and Blake always has a large gap at her heel in CL. Maybe that’s the secret? a Larger size for a more comfortable toe box, double sided tape on the bottom of your foot so it won’t slide and Voila! http://blakelivelyweb.com/pictures/albums/Appearances/2011/Ghetto/1_283929.jpg
I have the pigalle 120 in a 36. I tried a 37 first and had a gap like in the picture but the toebox felt exactly the same…
Author
It could be the answer, I know when I had a pair of larger ones my foot wasn’t so far in the front so it wasn’t so squashed. But they are hard to walk in when they are big though.
hi lorna im debating weither getting the zoulou in beige or the lapy peep spikes in black but the zoulou the 36.5 the zipper i had a little hard time closing it but the shoe fits comfortably do you think they’ll stretch so the zipper will close fine? or will the zipper break? the 7 fits too big and the straps are no longer tight like in the 36.5. and the lady peep the 7 is a little big in the back and my toes are a little jammed, and the 36.5 fits snug but i don’t know if they will stretch? what do you think?
Author
Hi sheila, I’m sorry I couldn’t understand your questions very well as there were many in one go, is it you are asking if the shoe with the zipper will be ok or about another shoe?
sorry i was asking if i should get the zoulou in beige or the lady peep spikes in black? the zoulou i had a bit of a hard time closing the zipper because the 36.5 fit snug. But the 37 was too big, do you think the leather in the back where the zipper is will stretch? or will the zipper break. and the lady peep fit small in a 36.5 but a little big in a 37.
Author
Oh ok! Well both shoes are very very different and both are beautiful. It would depend on what shoe you want the most. The zipper shouldn’t break, all CL’s are hand made with care so they will be of great quality. All leather does stretch, but I haven’t had personal experience with needing to stretch any leather with a zipper in place, so I am wondering if the zipper will stop the leather from stretching, but in general, the entire shoe will stretch which should create more room at the back anyway. Lady peep would probably be better in the 36.5 and stretch them out, as peep toes are difficult to make work when they are too big, your foot slips forward as they stretch. But I think go with your heart with which shoe you like the most. Where did you buy them from?
I bought them at saks
Author
Really they didn’t have half sizes? Perhaps they sold out? Because I’ve never not seen half sizes before.
Hi! I have a HUGE question! I want a pair of Bianca Louboutins, I don’t have one of those (any model) and I have never tried them on in stores, I’ll order them online because I live in Mexico and well, we don’t have stores that sells Louboutins.
The problem here is, I don’t know what size to order. I’m a regular US 8.5, but I can’t find the model I want in half sizes, that’s why I am thinking in ordering 8 or 9.
I think a size 8 will fit best, because normal high heels tends to get a little bigger, but I don’t know anything about the Biancas.
Thanks a lot! I hope you can understand my english haha.
Author
Hi! Where are you ordering from? Which website? As all of his shoes come in normal and half sizes. If you show me the site and style I can try and help!
I was thinking in ordering in this webpage:
http://christianlouboutinsaleonline.info/
But as you told me, they come always in half sizes, now I’m not 100% sure in ordering from this webpage… Do you have any suggestions on what page to order?
Author
Please don’t order from there. They are fakes! Any site with Louboutin in the name (except the official site) is a fake. When you see styles that cheap with huge discounts they are always fake. Now is a great time to get a pair of sale shoes though! You can order from Barneys New York or Net A Porter and get a good deal in the sale! But don’t go with the fakes they are awful!
Hi Lorna and to all the ladies on here. I just want to say thank you guys for your questions and to Lorna for your replies to every single question it helped me tremendously… I just order my first pair of CL’s yesterday and I was so anxious to get them I had them Saturday delivered. After I ordered them I began to get nervous about the fit,and since I’m wearing them New Years Eve there is no turning back. So I got online and start looking up sites that could help me kind of calm my nerves. None were really helpful, then I found yours I read every single question and reply. I ordered the pigalle Plato leather spikes. I have a very flat foot and kind of wide. Normally with heels I wear a 8 or 8.5. I ordered a 9 just to be on the safe side and they fit perfect. The toe box is a litte tight but in your replies I read that’s normal for this shoe. I’m going to try the sock trick for that. Or do you think I should just let it stretch itself out because its not unbearable tight.
Author
Hi Koron! I am really glad you found this post useful and everyone’s questions as well as replies. That’s really good! Yeah the Pigalle is one of CL’s tightest shoes in the toe box, so it’s totally normal for it to be a bit uncomfortable. Mine are very painful as I never sized up at all. How are they length wise? Are they perfect? If the toe box isn’t really painful, maybe just wear them around your house for a few hours, without socks, see if they stretch out a bit. I only recommend the sock trick to people who have their shoes and are unbearable painful, because it will stretch them quite a lot, which does then make the whole shoe a bit looser, so see how it goes without the sock first, just to be on the safe side!
Thanks that’s what I will do. I only ordered a size up because the reviews on Saks. Someone mention that they run a half size to small. (She must have feet like mine) lol. The length is perfect got just enough room. Sorry yours hurt so bad. I hope mine won’t after a couple of hours. Right now I’m so excited I don’t know if I would feel pain at this moment…. Lmbo 😉 Thanks Again….
Author
Good luck with it 🙂 Definitely let me know how it goes as well, I’m sure we would all like to be updated!
Happy New Year’s…… I just wanted to update you on the comfort and feel of the Pigalle Plato… I did walk around the house for a couple of hours in them and they were fine, but let me tell you walking around the house and on concrete is a totally different feel.. I went out to the club and after bout a hour and a half in they hurt so bad.It was the toe box area my poor toes felt like they were on fire.. So I sat down for around 20 mins and I was ok for about 5 mins. Enough time to walk to the car and get them off. I’m not complaining though because as many compliments as I got it was well worth it… I just know from now on I will wear them at sit down fuctions and just to be cute.. Already excited about my next pair I wanta pair the Highness.. Thanks again 😉
Author
Thanks for letting me know Koron! And gosh, that sounds so painful! I do honestly know what you mean though, they sound as painful as my Pigalle, although those are unbearable after just 20 minutes. It’s great you managed to last for an hour and half! I plan on doing a new post about Louboutins next week, about sizing and styles etc, so you might want to look out for that one too 🙂
Hi Dear, I just ordered yesterday Pigalle 120 in red in a size 38. I’m little confused because i got a pair CL Lady Peep toe 150 black leather and they little bit tight on the front box. I ordered on the CL page and they just arrived. I got normal feed so You think the Pigalle 120 red pantend leather will be to big for me? or they would fit. I was scared a 37.5 would be to small because I got funny feed. I usally wear a 7.5 us. thank you so much.
Author
Hi Chanel, sorry I don’t understand what size you have the Lady Peep in? The Pigalle is much tighter in the toe box than the Lady Peep because it’s much pointier. If the Lady Peep was tight in the toe box, I would say that the Pigalle would also be tight as well.
Thank you for your answer, I’m sorry I mean the the Lady Peep i got is in size 38. i guess they just small right now because i just wore it 1 times but they are perfect. so my question is if the 38 Pigalle are ok because they say the Pigalle run half or big size bigger then the normal CL. So what you think they will be fine?
I mean they just arrived on the webpage they said they run big but the toe box look so small. I’m in Europe now I can’t even try them on and send them back.
Author
Oh, is there no Louboutin boutique near you? There are many in Europe! I doubt they would be too big on you at all, sizing up in Pigalle is always a good option. The toe box is tiny and very painful.
No Not really, I’m in Ukraine right now. Yeah I heard the Pigalle is not a Comfortable shoes. You got a pair too? I think a 38 will be fine. they said on the size charts those run 1 or half size big. but small is always a pain like you said because the toe box are so small. how you like them? I;m glad i find you homepage 🙂
Author
I don’t like mine, they are gorgeous, but I don’t like them because of the pain. I don’t think they run big at all, they run true to size so I’m sure you will be fine. The bigger they are the less painful they will be! 🙂
you don’t 🙁 I hope i will like them. you are a sweetheart I know i don’t believe it either they run big because of this toe box. It think also I will be fine. you just a helper thank and i feel better i just got an email that they shipped so it’s to late anyway. I hope they fit me well. Do you got instagram that I can follow you? warm hugs
Author
I hope they work out for you Chanel 🙂 Let me know if they do! I do have Instagram! It’s LornaRaindrops my username. Maybe you can send the shoes back if they don’t fit?
ok thanks for ur instagram. I will follow you. I cant send them back because i gonna be until mai :(. thank you so much.
Author
Oh wow, then I really hope they fit you! 🙂
Would love your advice. I just brought a pair of Christian Louboutin Pigalle 120mm. I love the shoes and they are super sexy but OMG I can barely walk in them and now I’m fearful that I might need to downgrade to a 100mm. I’m normally a size 38 but I brought the 38.5 figuring the extra room would help with the height. Well the 38.5 was too big so I exchanged for a 38 which fits better but the front toe area is VERY tight. Any suggestions would be helpful. I rather exchange for 100mm so I can actually walk in the shoe than keep these beauties that I can barely stand in. HOWEVER, I would love to just stretch the front if that would help.
Thanks!
Author
Hi! So is it the height of the shoe you are struggling with? I can’t walk in 120 at all, it’s way too high and my knees bend.
Yes the height but I can handle that. It’s actually the toe box. Last night I wore them for hours with really thick socks and today….still tight! Should I just keep trying to stretch them? I hate to size up to a 38.5 and have a big gap between my foot and the shoe
Author
You probably know by all the other comments that Pigalle is the hardest shoe to make comfortable purely because of how narrow it is. I haven’t been able to stretch mine to a comfy size at all. I’m not sure if it will work for you on super tight Pigalle. Sorry!
Hello .. This blog is awesome thank you for your advice… So I have a pair of Bianca’s 120 in black ..I wanna buy my 2nd pair but in nude and a little higher heal… which one would u recommend ?
Author
Hi! I don’t know if they come in higher and nude, 140mm anything is really hard to walk in, but one of his highest is the Daffodil, you could try that shoe!
Hi I’ve just got my black very prive, I had a 38 originally which is my normal size but they slipped off at the back, I now have 37.5 and I’m stood in 2 pairs of socks to stretch them, they are really tight in the toe, how long do you think I need to wear them with socks to stretch them a bit? I want to wear them on Saturday for my birthday! Early present from hubby!
Author
Hi Claire! Are they patent or nappa?
Hi, patent
Author
Patent does take a little more time to stretch out, but I would try wearing them as much as you possibly can.
Thanks Lorna, I’m sat in them again now!
Author
Good luck with them! They should be worth the pain ha ha!
Hi Loma,
Thanks for answering all these questions even though you posted this almost 3 years ago! I recently bought a pair of Fifis in black. In the US, I’m a size 8, but I’m currently in China, where I’m usually a 38/39 (I think China and Europe have the same shoe sizing system?). The sales rep got me a 37.5, and when I tried them on, they did fit, but almost barely. I was in a hurry and the sales rep told me that I could exchange, so I purchased them.
Now I’m afraid to walk around in them too much so as to not damage the bottom of the shoe, in case I do need to exchange. When I do wear them though, my feet are a bit squished, but it doesn’t feel completely uncomfortable (but when wearing them for a long period of time, they might?). Also, I don’t think the soles of my feet are really making contact with the middle of the shoe – is that some sort of warning signal that I should exchange?
What would you suggest? The CL store is a little far from me, which is why I’m asking for advice first; but of course, I definitely don’t want to have spent over $800 for shoes that don’t fit right! Thanks!!
Author
Hi Cynthia! Do you have carpet to walk around on? That’s always best when trying the shoes out, if not, that might be a bit awkward, but walking on cardboard you put down also helps. Are they patent or regular leather? Regular leather stretches out faster and easier than patent, but you said the soles of your feet are not touching the bottom of the shoe, did you mean the arch in your foot? If it regularly touches the sole of your shoes, and it’s not on this pair, that is a sign they are too small. I had a pair like that in the Declic and I had to exchange them because it was damaging my foot trying to walk around like that. How are your toes?
Hi Lorna! I just bought the Bana 14mm in a 36.5 , the 36 were extermely tight . I have a tiny gap in the back and slip up a bit, should I stick with the bigger ones or deal with the extreme tightness in the smaller ones?
Bana 140mm I meant ! 🙂
Author
Hi 🙂 how tight we’re they? And what material did you get? If the 36.5 are ok and easy to walk in without issues then I would stick with it. But it depends what you are ok in. If they are too tight you won’t want to wear them.
I have them in leather. I’m just afraid they will stretch and get bigger on the heel, the 36 were exertemly tight at the toe, 36.5 are perfect at the toe just little gap
In the back. Do you know if they’ll stretch over time? I’m thinking of getting the heel grips and seeing if that’ll keep them snug
Author
They do stretch yeah, but that purely depends on how much you wear them. If you are planning on wearing them all the time then they will stretch out, but if they are just an occasion shoe which means you wont wear them much at all, they probably wont stretch much. Can you fit a finger in the gap?
No it’s a tiny gap can’t get a finger in there, when I walk my foot slips but not totally out. I do plan on wearing them a lot though.
Author
It’s tough to say, I’m really intolerant to shoes that hurt my feet, but others aren’t. You could try going to the Christian Louboutin section of The Purse Forum to see what advice those ladies might offer too!
I’m not sure if this fits into this blog post or if it belongs somewhere else! but I just got my first pair of Louboutins and they are gorgeous and they fit great the only problem is I cannot walk in them!
They are the bianca sling back and I feel like an 8th grader again! trying to walk in my mothers heels! lol!
What did you do to finally ‘figure out’ how to walk in such tall shoes?

Hi Megan! Slingbacks are actually really hard to walk in and I sold my Louboutin sling backs, even though they were only the 80mm height, but there is no security in slingbacks so I don’t wear them, your foot feels like it’s free fall in the shoe. I would definitely recommend the Bianca regular with the closed back, those will be so much easier to walk in. I honestly can’t offer any advice for the sling back sorry! They are really hard for me to walk in without going at a snail pace lol.
Help! One more day to decide ;( I got a gift of the lady daf suede. After reading and researching I purchased them in a 41. I’m a US 10, sometimes 9.5 in a sandal but very wide feet. The length is good, but the right foot is excruciating in width, the toe boxes are tight on both but I see with research these will stretch.. I didn’t realize my right foot was so much wider to cause such pain…the CL saleswoman on the phone suggested not to go up..to 41.5. I even tried a daffodil today in the 41.5 ( the booty isn’t in some stores yet) and my heel cans out, too big..but these are a shoe, not a boot. I just tried the sick trick but the right..ooohhh my the pain. If I had a tape measure handy I’d measure my foot to see if that’s the culprit.. And not the shoe..visually they look the same width. What do you suggest? CL endorsed cobbler? Just explain the right shoe needs more stretch? It’s too unbearable for the sick trick for too long. I was told that a 160 heel that’s too large is a no go..;( have you ever heard of one shoe being so much tighter than the other? Any info on the daf booty suede and how they stretch? I would like to wear them at some point! Thanks for your opinion and the useful tips!

Hi Sophia! Since Louboutin shoes are hand made, it’s definitely not uncommon for them to run differently. I have had a pair that I literally couldn’t fit my right foot into, but my left foot I could. The best bet would be measuring your feet because if the shoes are of different sizes, I would recommend exchanging them. They sound seriously painful and in reality if a shoe is that painful (no matter how beautiful it is) you wont wear them, especially at that height, they will really damage your feet. From the sounds of it, not even the sock trick method would stretch them out enough to be comfortable 🙁
You dont know how lucky you guys are to be able to fit into Christian Louboutin’s, I am a UK size 9.5 which is a US 12 and no Louboutins fit me at all. Its so sad and depressing. I just want a pair, any help on what to do? I am trying to start a petition, so let me know if there is anyone else who feels my pain.
Author
I think I have seen his shoes go up to 42 somewhere, but that’s only a 9. Although you could try an open toe sandal? You can always size down in those, have you tried any? You can also have his shoes custom made in Paris, but they cost thousands that way! Sorry you can’t fit them!
Hi,
I have the Dafodille in black patent leather. The toe box was definitely a little snug but not too bad. I think my feet grew a little (I’m 22) and now the toebox is pretty damn tight. I’m a 6.5/7 in shoes, (my other Loubis black Carlota and nude Zoulous all fit perfectly in size 37) because I read these run small, I bought 37.5. Do you think the sock method will work to stretch these out? I don’t think I can exchange them now, I got them from Saks, I’ve had them for a few months.
Author
Hi, the sock method works pretty much all the time if you keep at it. However remember in the summer time when your feet get hot, they swell up. They also swell up towards the end of the day, so your feet are at their smallest in the mornings and when they are cold. Maybe that might be why they are tighter now than before? Generally feet don’t keep growing after about age 15-16 or so, so they might be swollen a bit at the moment.
Would the sock trick work on suede too? I’ve got the bambou style but too tight on the toes 🙁
Author
It doesn’t work as well on the suede as suede is heavier and thicker, so it takes a lot longer to stretch out. I found that the normal leather works quickest, patent is second and then suede is last 🙂
Hi Lorna, I got Rolando in black leather. I am US size 7.5 or 8 depending on the shoe. 38.5 bend my toes literally in half and I got 39. On the back its a little lose but I put a small pad and its much better. I can’t stick any fingers in it (its not that big). Toes are a bit snug but manageable as they will stretch. That’s for folks who wonder about sizing issues. My foot is a dancer foot with long toes. My question is would you recommend putting a protective sole or let it wear off and have scratches visible. I will avoid walking in them outside but a slight scratch and the sole is no longer red. What is your take? thank you.
Author
Oh the Rolando is really painful! I had to sell mine because they hurt so bad and I couldn’t walk in them. I have long toes too and they bent them really badly! I wear mine outside all the time, so the soles do get worn, I personally think it adds natural effect to them, since you pay so much for the shoes, you should wear them! But if you are wanting to keep them pristine, only wear them on carpet. The protective coverings will most likely ruin the sole if you remove it as the sole is leather, easily damaged. Good luck with your shoes!
Thank you 🙂 but look so good ha, they are not so bad now. I wore them at home so far. The carpet definitely protects the soles. My thought was when I am out in the hotel/restaurant, the floors are no longer carpeted and knowing me, I will smash my foot at something sooner or later; probably sooner. You are right, about the natural effect. Even if fancy, they are still the shoes and shall be treated as such.
Author
Good luck with them! Just be very careful! I was always careful with mine, but I am clumsy as well and I damaged my Cramberry Declics on the 4th or 5th time I wore them. The heel got stuck between two pavement slabs and tore a bit of the leather on the heel, I was so so sad. But now since they have a bit of damage, I feel like I don’t need to be as careful with them anymore, so it’s sort of better that way I guess 🙂
Thank you 🙂

Welcome 🙂
Hi Lorna,
My Husband just brought me the FLO SLING 120 in patent. The gentleman in the shop advised he buy a half size smaller.. (im normally a uk size 5 so he brought a 4 and half) they fit fine on my feet a tad tight but i have very thin feet…they fit like a glove but i was a bit unsure how these particular shoes are meant to fit..i presume that they will stretch but im concerned that if they stretch too much that i could end up with my toes hanging over the edge! they dont at the moment but i just thought id ask your experience of them.
Thank you 🙂 x
Author
Hi Hollie! I think you should be ok 🙂 The toe area can stretch a bit, but usually I find my toes poke through the gap if the shoes are too big because my feet slip forward. You are lucky to have a pair which fits you well from the start! That’s a rarity! Good luck with them!
Hello Lorna,
I am buying my first pair of Loubs as my graduation present to myself! :o) I am looking at the SO KATE pumps. Now, I wear a size 7 but my foot is extremely wide. It is usually my problem with most heels. A 7.5 is fine at first, but once is stretches then they are falling off my feet. What would you recommend? Obviously, they are not going to fit perfect bc the toe is so narrow. Would it be easier to stretch out the leather (patent) over time or to just get the backing in a 7.5? I haven’t worn a pair before so that is why I am asking for your advice.
Thank you!
Author
Hi, Louboutins tend to run differently to other brands and then each Louboutin runs differently than another, so I honestly couldn’t recommend what size you pick as I haven’t tried the SO KATE pumps. I have Louboutins in size 38.5 up to 40.5, so they vary so much. Is there somewhere you can try them on? 🙂
Thanks for such a helpful post!! It’s amazing how different styles of Louboutins fit so differently, isn’t it? I am wondering what you think would work best to stretch a pair of patent leather Love Me heels. Like so many of these ladies, the shoes fit perfectly in the store but are so uncomfortable now I don’t wear them! I find the seam between the mesh and patent in the toe box is sooooo tight. They are such beautiful shoes, I don’t want to give up hope yet!
Author
Hi, I would just recommend stretching with socks first, see if that works! Good luck!
Hi Lorna,
I am enjoying all these hilarious posts you ladies are posting, and I think it’s cool you are maintaining this site! I am in a rut, because I don’t have the CL income but I am in desperate want of these Mallorca espadrilles. I am so confused, because I’ve heard that some Louboutins are big and will stretch, so I ordered a 37.5, though I’m usually 8-8.5 depending on the shoe. Another thing is, they are canvas leather-lined, so I don’t know how much they’ll stretch. They fit me perfect, it’s just after wearing it around school all day, by 4 PM, I was not able to walk. It was my first day wearing them, but I spent a good hour wearing them around last night (without socks). These are the Mallorca, close-toed Mary janes, which are the ones I truly want. They look so cute, but they are very tight on my right foot and my toes seem to be pushed way against the end. I can’t tell if it’s unbearable or able to stretch. And ones for my size on eBay, the Formentera which is just an espadrille style wedge, no strap, is not exactly what I want, but it is a size 38. I am concerned, since a lot of people in Size 8 get a 39, but these are shoes I’m planning on wearing a few days every week, a LOT. I am concerned that if I get the size 8, it won’t be much difference, and then I’ll be sacrificing my style for not much change in comfort. =( And then I’m concerned I’ll be giving up these shoes I really love, which would have ended up stretching and fitting nicely over time, because of impatience!
Author
Hi Diana! Have you checked the ones on eBay for authenticity? I can only offer the advice on the authentic real Louboutins as fakes are totally different. Where did you get them from as the Mallorca Mary Janes are really really old and not available to buy anymore, so I’m just checking where you got them?
Hi Lorna…Do you have any advice regarding fit of the crystal strass? do they stretch out? my left foot is slightly bigger…so the left foot fits at the heel but a bit snug in the toe area, where my middle toes are, whereas there is a small gap at the heel of the right shoe. when i walk, my heels would slide slightly. would these be the correct fit or should i be going for a fit where the heel does not slide at all? or even go larger to avoid snug left toebox? how does this compare to the fit of the fifi and the simple mary crystal shoes? i will be heading to the store to try them all out, however, would like to know when i need to look out for. thanks so much for your advice.
Sorry just to clarify, I was speaking about the very riche strass with the open toe.
Author
Hi Ada! I don’t know much about strass as I don’t own any original strass shoes, but I am thinking that they probably wont stretch out much?
Thanks for your response. In general, i know the toes can get scrunched in the toe box. I notice that with the height, the foot tends to slide forward causing the smaller toes to bend, then causing a gap with the heel. When fitting CLs, do you go with the size that fits when your toes are as straight as possible or go smaller, knowing your toes are bent in the toebox so the shoe is fitted at the heel if that makes any sense. thanks again.
Author
It’s a tricky one for me because I used to buy them small and tight so they were really painful, with intentions they would stretch, but stretching them out is such a pain and a long process and I actually never end up wearing CL shoes enough to warrant the stretching out. So as it is now I just buy them fitted. It really depends on how much you plan on wearing the shoes. If they are occasional shoes I wouldn’t recommend getting them tight because you wont want to wear them and when you do want to, they will be too tight to do so. But if you plan on wearing them every day (as yours are strass I’m assuming you aren’t) then get them tighter and wait for the stretch. Hope that helps!
HI Lorna:
I’m hoping you can help me. I brought a pair of Pigalle 100mm in a size 8.5 and after wearing them one time the pain is too much and I’ve decided to sale them. Can you recommend a site that I might be able to sale my shoes without losing too much money? Anything but ebay as well. I’ve tried them and no luck so far! Thanks in advance!!!

Author
Hi Ayanna, I don’t actually know a good place to sell them. You could maybe try some fashion forums? But eBay would have been the only place I could recommend. Sorry!
Good Morning Lorna,
I purchased a pair of Interlopa 160mm that was on sale in a size 40.5 a few days ago. I have a pair of Pigalle’s in a size 41 that I have only worn around the house because I’m learning how to walk comfortably in them without looking crazy. When I saw the boots on sale, I just couldn’t resist getting them even though I knew they might not fit. I figured I’d give them a try and if they didn’t fit, I have 14 days to return them. I will be picking them up this afternoon and I wanted to know whether it’s possible to stretch them to fit in the event that they don’t, considering that they’re suede boots. I thank you in advance for your response.

Author
Hi Viv, that would definitely depend on how small they are. Generally as a rule, Louboutin boots run much smaller than his heels, so I’m about a 39.5 in his heels and a 40.5 in his boots, because they are more structured. I’m not sure if the 40.5 will fit you if a 41 fits you in a Pigalle, but you can only try. I have a feeling they will be much too tight though. Let me know how they fit!
Hey Lorna,
You were right. They were way too tight so back they will go. At least I’ll know what to keep in mind when I want to purchase my next pair of CL boots. Thanks so much for the response and your blog. I really enjoy reading all of the inputs and suggestions given here. I have your blog bookmarked so I can come here for all of my CL questions.
The So Kate pump that I ordered a couple of months ago will be delivered to me in a couple of days. I purchased that shoe in a 41 so I’ll let you know how everything turns out. I’m hoping it won’t be too tight like the Malabar Hill ended up being. Unfortunately, I had to return those as well. >:o(
Thanks again.

Hi! That’s a shame they were too tight, but I thought they would be. I hope you manage to find some that fit! Good luck with it! And thank you for bookmarking my blog, it means a lot to me that you like it!
Hi Lorna, i just bought the patent lady lynch 120 and they are quite small on me, the lady in the shop said to buy as small as possible, will these ones stretch??
Author
Are they too tight that you can’t walk?
Hi Lorna I am interested in buying a pair of patent lady peep slingback and wanted to know what size you suggest as I and a true us9 and I have a 39 in the cl glitter helmour which of course has no platform and a 40 in the red and white gressimo and a 40 In the Bianca also patent.
Author
Hi Candice! I haven’t actually tried the lady peep, but usually the slingbacks with a peep toe tend to run a little bigger, from experience. Sorry I can’t be of more help though!
Hi Lorna
I’m looking to get my girlfriend some loubs for Christmas. I’m looking at the snakeskin daffodile pumps. It’s the pointed toe pump with 160mm heel. She’s normally a size 7 or 7.5 in US sizes. What size would you recommend getting her
Author
Hi Leo, gosh, I wouldn’t like to say as sizing can be all over the place. I haven’t tried the daffodile before, so I don’t know how it runs. Have you thought about taking her to the store to try some on?
I just bought the Palais Royal in Pinot Rouge from Neiman Marcus online. I tried different sizes in the store, but not of this particular shoe because they didn’t have it. The sales woman said I would be a 36 in open toe, and a 36.5 in closed toe. I bought these in 6, they seem to fit with a little space in the back. They don’t slip off my feet, but my toe kind of hangs over.
Here’s a photo collage of different angles of what they look like on. Does this look like the right size?

Hi Angel! Those are gorgeous! I always size down in open toe shoes as well, I think everyone does. If they have a little gap at the back then they definitely aren’t too small. Whether or not your toes come to the front of the shoe is usually dependent on the size of the opening and the size of your toes. My toes do the same thing in open toe shoes, they come forward and sometimes tip over the edge a little bit. I think it happens to a lot of ladies actually. If your shoes are comfortable, they don’t slip off and they don’t hurt your feet a huge amount, I think they are fine! They certainly look beautiful!
Thanks so much!! I am getting the rubber soles put on to protect them before I wear them. Can’t wait. Although it is cold here and I don’t tend to wear open toe shoes in the winter, I am wearing these anyway. 🙂

That will be good 🙂 The red leather damages so easily otherwise and can be slippery!
Hi I want to buy a pair of CL shoes. I am
Usually a size 6 but the Australian brand tony Bianco I am a 6.5. What size do you reckon I should buy for CL shoes?
Author
Hi, I wouldn’t know as I don’t wear Australian shoes. I’ve not heard of Tony Bianco before. I’m generally a UK size 6-7 and I wear in Louboutins between a 39.5 and 40.5. Which would be a 6.5 – 7.5. It depends on the shoes though as they all run so differently.
Hi my girlfriend owns a pair of patent pigalle 120mm, she’s a uk size 5 but I just found out she takes the shoe a whole size down. I’ve looked at getting her the palais royal patent 140mm, but now I am stuck on what size to order! Any help please? Thanks
Author
Is there a chance you can get her to try them? Closed toe shoes tend to run differently to open toed shoes, so the sizing might be different for her. Perhaps she could try them first?
Hi I’m so sad. I ordered Lady Peep in blk patent and my right toe box is super snug they are sold out of the next size up! Do you think I can strech them with the sock trick?
Author
Hi, how tight are they? Are they so painful you can’t even stand up in them? Or are they just a bit painful so it’s a bit uncomfortable when you walk?
They are tight but I can walk in them uncomfortably. I am trying the sock trick and they have loses up a tad bit. How long does it take. I was hoping to wear them to a party tomorrow night. These are my first CL since my twins (2yrs) I am so desperate I have a baby sitter and a new dress. I was hopping to wow my hubby!
Author
Then they should be able to stretch out a lot, for me it takes quite a while. A good few wears with stretching. What I also did to speed up the process was pull a bit on the peep toe to loosen it more, but be careful if you do that as you don’t want to miss shape them or pull too hard and stretch too much. There is also some leather stretching spray, but that might not be a good idea on peep toe patents. Just keep trying with the socks and enduring the pain. You can wear two socks, but that might stretch the back, so try folding a sock down, so it covers from mid foot to toes only, that will give you a double layer of sock to stretch out the toe box. Good luck and I’m sure you will look great!
My husband and I purchased a pair of the pigalle 120 Paint splatter pumps for our daughter. The problem is the toe box is very tight. I have read through most of the posts about the sock trick. Can she try it on these? The length seems to fit, it’s the width and the toe box that is tight. Thanks for all your great information!
Author
Hi Carol, you can try it, however I don’t think it would work too well. The Pigalle is one of the most uncomfortable shoes from Louboutin, it’s so tight on everyone in the toe box and crushes the toes, so it doesn’t usually stretch out too well. You can always try though!
Thank you so much.
Author
Good luck!
Hi Lorna, I just got the Babel Clou 150 patent platform shoes in size 40 which unfortunately was the last pair! but the toe box hurts like cray esp the left one.. Please what options have I got as I really want to own it!
Cheers
Author
Oh those ones are gorgeous! With the studs on the heel? You have a better chance of stretching the toe box if it’s a peep toe, so keep trying the sock trick and tugging at the opening a bit, but not too hard as you can misshape the shoe, good luck!
Thanks Lorna and yes, they are absolutely gorgy reason I’m trying to force them to fit! Frustrating enough though, I’m on the socks journey now and sincerely hope it works, I went a size down completely.. Certainly peep toe!
Author
Oh yeah, a size down is hard to fit! Do they fit length wise?
Length is a perfect fit!
Author
That’s good then!
I want to buy the classic balk pigalle shoes my Biancas are a 37.5 should I size down and if so how much?
Author
Hi, it depends what Bianca you have, I wouldn’t say size down though. My Peacock Bianca were 39.5 and fitted perfect, slightly snug, but my 39.5 Pigalle kill my toes and are really tight, so I wouldn’t suggest sizing down.
It’s my first time buying Louboutin’s and I found a great deal at a consignment shop for some patent Biancas. Im usually a size 7 in everything (never purchased Louboutin’s so I really don’t know my actual size in European sizing). The Bianca’s are a 36.5. Do you think this would fit? I hear many people size down 1/2 to a full size down with Bianca’s but I want to double check because it is a final sale. Any suggestions? TIA!
Author
Hi, sorry is this UK or US size 7 that you are? Louboutins tend to run a bit smaller than most other shoe brands in general, so if you don’t know your Louboutin size, what I did originally was stick to my normal shoe size. I’m usually a 39.5 or 40 in Louboutins and when I tried the Bianca I was a 39.5 in those too. I didn’t find them to run much bigger than other Louboutins though, but it depends. Each of his shoes tend to run differently, boots run small, open toes run big etc. Final sale is a bit scary, so I wouldn’t like to advise you wrong!
Sorry, I’m a US 7. The shop owner told me she is a US 7.5 and the shoes I’m looking to buy are a bit tight. I’ve been researching like crazy on TPF and everyone says they stretch out a lot after uses. I’m also afraid of the final sale but they are 1/2 the price of retail!
Author
If the shoes are a bit tight on her and she’s a 7.5, since you’re a 7, in theory they should be ok on you. But I guess it depends what she means by tight. Most people always need to stretch them out with some of these methods listed here, but you are right, they do stretch, but that happens with a lot of wear, not just a bit of wear, so it would also depend on how often you intended to wear them.
Would it matter if they are patent? Would they stretch out as much? I’m hoping they end up fitting. They are authenticated so worse comes to worse I can sell them on ebay if they don’t fit. Thanks so much for your help!
Author
Regular leather stretches the most, but patent does stretch out a bit, some of my patent leathers have stretched. Hopefully it works out for you though! Let me know!
I’ll definitely let you know! Thanks again! 🙂

Ok 🙂
Hi ladies i bought my first pair of CL so kate 120 suade I wore them
Out last night for the first time with in half n hour my feet were so painful 🙁 will the sock trick work help
Author
If they fit you in length and are just tight in the toe area, the sock trick should help! Just be aware that suede takes a little longer to stretch 🙂 Are they painful when you put them on for about 10 minutes? If they are fine, they just hurt after a while, that’s normal, Louboutins can be so painful and some of mine, despite being comfy to start with, hurt my feet after a little while.
Hey Neela, It’s funny that I am reading your comment and I am in so much pain at the moment wearing my So Kate’s. I have the black glitter in 120 and they just hurt from the height. To bad there’s nothing youc can do about that but they are so gorgeous. Good luck with yours but mine will not get worn again for a while! & Hello Lorna. Thanks for all your help in the past!!! Your wonderful…… 🙂
Author
You are very welcome 🙂 I’m planning on buying a new pair of CL’s, so keep an eye out for a new blog post of mine this week!
Hi Lorna I’m amazed reading all the comments..I’m about to buy the pigalle anemone with satin ribbon on the back.im normally a 5 but been told I would need a 6..I just don’t want them slipping off my feet. Be grateful if u could help thank you xxxxx
That’s a uk 5.:)
Author
Hi! Oh those ones are pretty! What shoes are you normally a 5 in? Which brands? Perhaps you could try a 5.5 which would be right in the middle?
I’ll have a look but don’t think 5.5 is available.ill get the 6 better a lil big than too small.ill get the double sided sticky tape out…helped so much thank you 🙂

Where did you find them? I think they have been sold out on most places! Are they online?
Hi yeah they are online.ill try n post the link below.https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CBkQFjAA&url=http://www.selectapartments.co.uk/Louboutin/&ei=wE7jUuTgBYuKhQf3hIHABw&usg=AFQjCNF_4nXwy7O9rfJwkmjoWpkFaT48wA&sig2=8mB5w0GTMVe3quuIoc8d2A

Oh no no, I’m glad I asked. Don’t buy from there, they are completely fake! I was a little suspicious when you said they didn’t have half sizes. Louboutin always has half sizes. Any website that is like that and sells Louboutins that cheap is completely fake. Please don’t buy those, you will regret it so much. They will be terribly made, they don’t look like the real thing, will probably break and snap and you could damage your foot. Not to mention supporting fakes is really bad for the true brand. I hope you didn’t already buy them!! Can you get a refund and cancel the order if you did?
So glad I asked you now..thought they were too cheap. Thank you 🙂
Author
Yeah, usually prices like that are always way too good to be true. You can find Louboutins in the sale, but only on authentic retailers like Net-A-Porter, Matches etc. Actually, if you take a look at this post I spoke about it in depth 🙂 Glad I saved you from buying them! https://fordlafemmes.com/2013/01/07/finding-the-right-christian-louboutin-shoes-for-you/
Hi, I’m going to purchase my first pair of CLs but I’m not sure what size to order. I normally wear a 9 in other shoes and I have a narrow heel. I want the basic black pigalle 100s. Is 1/2 size up enough?
Author
Hi Melinda, I’m not very good with US sizing, I’m English. I do know that American shoe brands run big though and European ones run smaller, so you would be best sizing up I think. Is there no store you can go and try them on?
Hi im lookng to purchase my first pair of pigalle heels but im not sure what size I should get, I am a 6.5 US. Id appreciate it of someone could help me get the perfect size that would be most comfortable for me.
Thank you
Author
Hi Katrina, it really depends on what brands and style shoes you are a 6.5 in, each shoe varies so much.
Hi, I just brought the pigalle 85 in natural leather Size 38 from CL in Dubai. I have got home and they feel so tight around the toes but fit well apart from that. Just wondering if I should exchange for 1/2 size up before wearing them? Any thoughts?
I did try the pigalle 85 in patent size 38.5 on in the shop and they were too big though.
Do the size of patent and natural leather run the same?
Thanks in advance for your help x
Author
Hi! If they fit length wise and are comfortable everywhere else except the toes, then you have the right size. Normal natural leather stretches out a lot, so try wearing them with socks around the house for a while and see if they loosen up!
Hi Lorna, I just discovered your blog. Thanks for such helpful article.
I am fairly new to CL (bought my first 3 pairs in 2 months , I was warned they were addicting! haha). I am a little confused about my shoe size because if i gain weight or loose weight so do my feet! I bought three pairs of Jimmy Choo Abel Pump 37.5 and now they are hugeeee…. so now I am a 37 in Jimmy Choo and 37 in Gucci. In CL, I own the Red Patent Iriza Pump in 37.5 (cant wear them with stockings because they come off, and there is a gap in the back. I actually went to NM and tried on a 37 and they fit well… so I guess I bought the wrong size), My other pair is Gwynitta in 37.5 that fits perfectly and my last pair that I bought was Shelley 90mm Blue Patent in 37. They actually fit perfectly (no gap) but my toes are super duper squished and its quite painful… do you think the sock trick would work on these?
I cant wait to buy more! But my husband is so upset that I am always complaining about the fit of designer shoes, yet I still want more hahaha I think the problem with CL is that the toe area is way too narrow. I think a 37 fits me well length wise, but the width in the toes is too narrow for my feet. And a 37.5 is good for my toes but huge gap in the back…. I dont know which is better , cant walk in either! hahaha
BTW LADIES: The lady from NM told me that since CL are handmade no two shoes are the same, even in the same size, so her advice was to buy the shoe that you try in the store, and ask for a different pair in the same size, since the other pair might fit better.
Author
Hi! You are right about the shoes running differently, I have given this advice to many! I have tried the same size shoe and same style a few times and each fitted differently and it is because they are hand made, they all vary, they have even been known to vary in heel heights too! That can be awkward! I think the sock trick should work for you! And if you do lose weight your feet lose weight too, it’s definitely true! Same with pregnancy as they swell up, same with certain times of the month and water retention and as well to do with how hot or cold your feet are, if they are hot then they are swollen so your shoes will be tighter, it’s crazy right?
Hi Lorna, thank you for answering so fast! I definitely need to try the Hollywood Fashion Tapes…. on all of them!haha Do you get them at any drugstore, like walgreens?
I tried putting to socks on each foot and then wearing my Shelley heels, and a small piece (approx 3ml) of the patent leather came of the stitching. I guess I have to take them to the cobbler.
I didnt know that the temperature of your feet affects the fit, crazzyyy. And yes I was 37.5 right after my delivery ( I gained 25lbs during pregnancy) now that I am back to my weight im 37 hahah. SO as my new RULE do not buy designer shoes until you are in your desired weight and plan to maintain it! hahaha
Author
Oh my gosh, how did the patent come off? I’ve never had that happen to me once, I also haven’t known about it either. That’s really unlucky! Where did you get those ones from?
Yeah, heat and weight is such a problem with foot size! I live in the UK, so we don’t have Walgreens here, but I ordered mine online!
I know :/ it’s very small , and you would have to be looking straight at it from a short distance to notice it. The Shelley heel has a criss cross design in the front of the shoe it’s on the right corner from the right shoe. These shoes that I bought were pre owned (the other two new) , I couldn’t find them anywhere and I had my eyes on them for a while haha.
Author
Well I hope you can get them fixed up! But if it’s not too noticeable, it should be ok. My Cramberry Declic have a mark on the heel where they got stuck down a grate, they are ok though, it shows if you are looking for it, but it’s not too bad.
Hi Maria,
I´m facing the same problem with the Sledge. Did you managed to get the shoe fix? I went to a couple of cobblers and they said nothing could be done with it 🙁
Lorna, I have no idea what to do…I just tried a 40.5 in CL Cork heels yesterday at SAKS in Philly because I saw these CL Lady Dafs Patchwork Watersnake on ebay that I’ve been in love with since I saw them in a magazine forever ago. One lady had them in 40.5 but *just* sold them today and another still has them up in a 40. In most shoes I’m a 9 to a 9 1/2. The cork in a 40.5 were a little tight and there are no returns on ebay so I’m scared. The bigger of the 2 were going for $1800 and the others are still up for $1100. I’m thinking about going for it but if they don’t fit, I’m going to be stuck. She said the insoles are measuring at 10.45″ and I just measured a pair of Carlos Santana shoes that are a size 9 that I wear all the time and fit me really well; their insoles measure 10″…this will be my first pair of Louboutins if I do get them but I’m terrified- I just don’t know what to do. I almost just got the more expensive, larger ones but when I called the NY store to ask the salesgirl’s advice, she said she’d never tell me go to go up that much. I called the CA store and the guy really didn’t give much advice at all. Please help! 🙂
Author
Hi Erica, I actually haven’t tried the Dafs before or the Dafodiles in general, they have always been much too high for me so never a style I’ve considered trying, so I don’t know how they run. What were the corks your tried on? Did they have a peep toe or closed toe? Since I personally don’t know how they run, I can’t say go with this or that size as all Louboutins vary, I have some in a 39, 39.5, 40, 40.5 etc, it is all dependent on the style. It’s a lot of money to risk as well. My advice would be to see if the ladies on The Purse Forum in the Louboutin section can help you out, a lot of them there have Dafs and Dafodiles and a huge collection in general, I’m sure they can give some better advice, here’s the link 🙂 http://forum.purseblog.com/christian-louboutin/
Hi,
I need some advice. I just ordered the pigalle 120 is black kid leather. I’ve heard that they have changed the style of the shoe so that its not cut so low around the sides of the shoe… I usually wear a 38 or 38.5. I wear a 38.5 in Giuseppe, a 39.5 in Brian Atwood and Kate Spade. My feet are fairly wide but I wanted to try the shoe anyhow. I ordered from a CL boutique over the phone and was told to get a 39-39.5. I ordered the 39.5 however after reading through so many forums I’m afraid they may be too large over time due to massive stretching of the toe box bc of the the heel height causing the toes to slide fwd. do you think I chose the right size?
Author
Hi, I’m unsure because I have never tried Brian Atwood, but my sizing in Giuseppe Zanotti shoes is a 40, but my CL size is 39.5 – 40. I’m slightly worried that you ordered too big, I definitely wouldn’t fit a whole size bigger in Louboutins than my Giuseppe Zanotti size, but I don’t know, I guess every shoe runs differently. If the shop assistant told you to get a 39.5, hopefully it’s ok. Can you return them if not? The kid leather does stretch out a lot if you plan on wearing them often, otherwise if they are just an occasional shoe, they wont stretch out as fast. Will you let me know what happens? Not many people come back after I give advice, so it would be good to know!
Hi Lorna
Great Blog! Can you help me please? My boyfriend just ordered me the Very Prive 120mm nude patent CL direct from store. The receipt says that they can exchange (but not refunds? which I’m a bit annoyed about …) anyway, I love love love the shoe and have wanted a nude shoe for ages. My problem is that they are a size 39 (my standard uk size) but feel very tight in the toe area on both feet. The thing is I’m wondering if I go up to a 39.5 that they might slip as they aren’t tight fitting at the back in these ones at all. I also have quite squashed toes in the peep toe bit – will half a size up make any difference to this and the toe cleavage or is this just the design of the shoe? My toes aren’t overhanging but they do fill up the space at the peep toe if that makes sense! I have a 150mm pair of peep toe patent Jimmy Choo’s which I find really hard to walk in but I did buy them in 39.5 and they fit well.
Do you have any advice on this particular shoe and whether or not you think I should exchange it or try the sock trick of yours?
decisions decisions! Please help!
Thanks so much Amy x
Author
Hi Amy, do they fit everywhere else on the foot? So is the length of the shoe and width of the shoe ok? Are they so tight that you can’t even stand or walk in them? Most CL shoes are really tight in the toe box as that’s how he makes his shoes, so they always take some stretching, but the thing with peep toes is that your feet will always slip forward, so there’s a chance if you size up, when your feet slip forward your toes might hang out of the end and you are left with a gap at the back of the shoe and they slip off. Peep toes are always tricky. Depending on your answers to how they fit at the moment, we can probably figure it out!
Thanks for the quick reply! Yes they fit everywhere else, in fact if I stand still I can easily lift my heel out of the shoe, but they don’t slip off whilst walking. They just feel very tight around the toes and I’m worried that my toes are very close to the end of the shoe, there is also a lot of toe cleavage (but would this be the same in the size up?) there’s not much of the shoe showing beneath my toes if that makes sense.
I can walk in them well, they are relatively comfortable (other than the toe area!) and I do have a 39.5 in another style of CL…would you say that different styles come up different sizes?
Thanks again for your help, who knew buying such expensive shoes would cause such worries!
Xx
Author
Yeah, definitely, if you read some of the other comments here you will see that they vary in sizes constantly. I have pairs which range from 39 – 40.5 and I generally find the peep toes to run bigger. If the shoes are comfortable everywhere else and fit fine, I would just suggest stretching the toe box with socks. I’m worried if you size up they will be too big and after natural stretching they will just fall off your feet. Try wearing socks with them around the house for a while and see if they loosen up! If not, take them back and exchange them if you feel you need to?
Thanks Lorna, that’s exactly what I thought. I think the bigger size will be slipping on the heel so I’m going to stretch out the toe area. Do love them though – even if after a few hours wear they might be squeezing those toes!
Thanks again]
Author
Good luck! Let me know how it goes!
Bit of a late reply ha ha – sorry – wanted to let you know that I went back to try on the half size up and they were way too big so I stuck with the 39, did the sock trick and they are perfect now – and actually quite comfortable! Thanks very much. I’m now after the So Kate stiletto…. haven’t tried them on though – any ideas on sizing with this one? Thanks xx
Author
I haven’t tried those ones before either, but my best advice would be to take the same size as the others, so try a 39 and see how it goes! Hopefully they run the same!
I most certainly will. They are scheduled to arrive sometime tomorrow. I truly hope they fit! *fingers crossed*
Author
I hope so too!
Hi – I’ve just read through all of these comments (!!) and haven’t found anything about the shoe I want to buy: the Charleen 85 mary jane in black patent. I ordered directly from a CL boutique in a size 37.5 (I’m usually a US size 7, feet on the narrow side). When they arrived, the mary jane strap was on the big side (didn’t sit flat on my foot) and there was a fair amount of heel slippage. I exchanged for a 37, which I’m wearing on carpet right now. The heel is a perfect fit – but the toes are a little cramped. I can still wiggle them a little bit, both sitting and standing, but there’s some pressure on the tops of my toes, mostly on the last 2-3 toes (weird, I know). My big toes aren’t getting any pressure from the tips of the shoes, but they’re pretty close. I’m not sure if the shoes are too short … but I don’t think so. Help – should I keep the 37, or go back to the 37.5??
Author
Hi! I would keep the 37 as the 37.5 were too big. They will get bigger with wear as they stretch out but it might be worth you wearing them with socks to see if they stretch out more! Good luck!
You are SO helpful – thank you so much!!! It’s a little tough when I can’t try the 37 and 37.5 on side-by-side, but I keep remembering that I didn’t hesitate too much to send the 37.5 back … because they were a little sloppy. You’re the best!
Author
Yeah if you didn’t hesitate you probably made the right decision! Mine have always stretched out so just give it a go. It takes a while, but it’s worth it. It’s only a good idea to return them if they are really painful and you can’t walk in them without pain. But yours don’t sound like that at all. Good luck with them!
Hey please I was wondering what website I could find CL’s in a size 11 or 10
Author
Hi! Occasionally you can find them in size 42 on official retailers but most stop at 41. Sorry!
Hi, I bought some CL’s in a 40 they where too big. so, I bought a 39.5 in the jane vendome Now, my toe is hanging over the shoes with a finger space in the back. Should I send them back and just settle for the Bianca’s?
Author
Hi, peep toes always run bigger so I generally size down a full size in them. If your toe is hanging out the end and a huge space at the back they are way too big for you. Biancas are gorgeous though! If you like them, go for them! If you prefer the Jane Vendome, send them back and get a smaller size?
Hi! There is a lady peep glitter for an amazing price on Ebay, but it is a size too big. I’m wondering if you think with a heep grip and foot petal, I’d be able to get them to fit?
Author
Hi, probably not. Are they peep toe? You really can’t size up in peep toes as they just don’t work. Your toes hang out the end. Also I’m always worried about eBay. They could be fake if the price is too good. Have you had them checked out for authenticity at The Purse Forum?
Yes, they are a peep toe =(. I bought the pigalle 120 spikes in my CL tts before I knew that I should size a full size down, and I managed to make it fit buy sticking heel grip on heel grip on heel grip haha. I was just wondering if the same thing could work with the Lady peeps. Thanks Lorna!
hi!!! please help me!! i brought a pair of CL daf booties in red i usually wear a 9 us so i brought a 39.5 on poshmark and they dont fit 🙁 and suggestions? im really upset the girl wont take them back
Author
Hi, boots run small from Louboutin and a 9 US is a 40 isn’t it? I always have to go up a size in boots so you would probably need a 40.5 at least. When it comes to boots they are really hard to stretch out. We’re they definitely authentic as that determines fit too!
yes they most def are and im
so upset that i wasted all that money and they so not fit i wish i wouldve known they ran like that thank youp
Author
Have you tried selling them yourself?
hi, I need advice! 🙁 I’m a usual 34.5/35 and I ordered 34.5 for Filo Suede Violet. the toe box is so short and my toes are all squashed up. I’m contemplating the sock trick or simply returning them to outnet.com. However I will lose 25 pound on return shipping. Should i keep it and try the sock trick or return them? They are made of suede, do suede scratch a lot over them?
Author
Hi, suede doesn’t really stretch as much as leather, I’ve tried. It’s a lot more thicker and durable so it tends to not be as giving. Are your feet in really bad pain? Can you actually walk in them or are they too painful to even think about wearing?
I was looking to order the Simple Pump 85mm for my new job. I am usually a 37 and happy chubby feet 🙂 what size do you think I should go with? If not the simple pump do you have any other suggestions? I was considering the rolando but I heard they will suffocate my feet.
Author
Hi, I would suggest the Simple pump as it’s one of the widest that Louboutin makes, so it would be the best for wider feet. What brands are you a 37 in? I’m generally a 39 in Jimmy Choo and Kurt Geiger, but a 40 in Louboutin if that helps. But all his shoes vary, some can run for me at a 39 and others a 40.5. Is there anywhere you can try the Simple? 🙂 Definitely don’t go with Rolando, I have narrow feet and it killed mine so I sold them.
Hi! I have a question I just got my first pair of Louboutins and I love them. But of course they are really tight in the toe area. I tried them in a 7.5 but they were sliding off so I went with the 7 they don’t slip at all but are too tight. They are the Decollete 554 any ideas? Thanks so much!
Author
Hi, if they are too tight you can’t even keep your feet in them because they hurt too much, then they are probably not going to stretch enough. If they are only slightly painful, definitely do the sock trick, it should help quite a lot!
Thank you so much for the sock trick they are slowly breaking in
Author
I’m glad it helped!
Thank you so so much for going against the popular hairdryer trick. I tried it out once (on a pair of pollini’s) and it just stretched them too much. I now use your sick method although if I run to the corner shop I get a few glances!
Author
I’m glad it helped! And lol, that sounds funny!
Hello! I was just wondering if you could help me please. I purchased the Bianca black patent today in a size 6 as I felt they were comfy(ish) in the store. i got home, walked about in them a bit and they have cut right into the joint bone in my two big toes! I had them on for 10 mins and my right big toe joint has a blister. My right foot feels a lot tighter in the toe box. Would it be worth sizing up to a 6.5 or will that not make any difference to the toe box size? I did try the 6.5 on and I thought that there was a gap at the back but I felt as if the girl was rushing me so i didn’t get to look at them properly.
Please helpppp!!
Author
Ouch, that sounds really painful! I would say they were too tight if they were giving you blisters, I’ve never had that before with a Louboutin on my toes. The toe box looks like it might be too small. Can you take them back and try the bigger size out in the store? Maybe it will be a different sales assistant this time. Usually if there’s more space in the shoe length wise, then there’s less pressure on your toes at the front of the shoes. But then you run the risk of them slipping off at the back, it’s a tough decision. I think if they give blisters though you wont be able to do the sock trick to stretch them, they sound much too tight. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help!
Hello. Yesterday I just received my first pair of LBs Rolando 120 patent calf shoe * that’s what it says on the box lol) they are from NM and I have a question. The toe box is fine, I have a very narrow foot and it surprises me that these almost fit cuz finding a heel that works is hard cuz shoes slip off when I walk. These have a heel strap and I’ve been walking around in my room but the shoes slip off other than that, they’re fine. My tip of my pinky fits in between the heel and the back and I was wondering if heel grips would work?
Author
Hi, that seems to be the problem with people with slimmer feet, like us, mine always slip off. You could try a heel grip, see if it works! That’s probably the reason your toe box is fine, the shoes are bigger in size so they aren’t squashed. I sized up in my Pigalle 100, I can fit my finger in the back too, but there’s no pain in my toe box!
Thank you for getting back to me. I’m almost wondering if the smaller size would’ve been better. But I’ll try anything to get these to fit! !
Author
Good luck!
Hi I just want to ask if the socks trick work with CL patent prive 120mm shoes i am usually 39 and I got my cl also in 39 but the front is a little small its hurts my toes will the socks trick work? Only the right side hurts because i also have a foot bigger than the other one
Author
Hi, it should do. It works well with most Louboutin shoes, so definitely give it a go!
Hi Lorna Thanks for your advice 🙂 do you have any idea how I can wear the shoes without pain ??
Author
Unfortunately not lol, Louboutin himself said he designs his shoes for sex appeal and not comfort so most ladies have to suffer the pain, especially where Pigalle is concerned! He really doesn’t make much room in the toe box lol 🙂
thanks Lorna.
Have a nice weekend 🙂
Author
You too 🙂
Hi, You seem to be the expert in Louboutins. I am trying to decide between the pigalle 85mm and decollete 554 85mm. The décolleté seems to shoe a lot of toe cleavage. Does the pigalle cover more? Do they even make the pigalle in 85mm anymore, I don’t see it anywhere. I tried on the décolleté 37.5, it felt a little snug, they didn’t have the 38 for me to try on, do you think it would be too big? Sorry for all the questions, but it’s a little confusing. Thank you!
Author
Hi, I have never actually tried the Decollete style, but I do own two Pigalle. The 85mm and the 100mm. When you say snug, are you talking about too painful you can’t wear or walk in them?
Hi, I’m so glad I came across this site! I finally found a pair of pigalle gold ring stress 120 (from sex and the city 2) but they are in a 37. I wear a 7 in U.S. sizes, but in CL I wear a 37.5-38 depending in the style. I just got a pair of So Kate in 38. Do you think the 37 in the pigalle is too small? One of my 38s is now too big from it stretching so I’m completely at a lost. I don’t want to spend this much money and they are too small!
Author
Hi! Oh amazing, how did you manage to find those? They are sold out everywhere as they are older! I’m guessing if you are usually a 37.5-38 then the 37 will be too small. I always have to size up half a size in Pigalle because of how narrow the toe box is, it’s extremely small. Have you ever tried a Pigalle?
I found them on eBay a couple of months back so I started saving. Plus I called LOTS of different stores and found some in New York but for full price. I don’t think I have ever tried on the pigalle style, just fell in love with them when I saw the movie years ago! I guess I know I need at least a 37.5 but so want them to fit for this cheaper price lol.
Author
Are they definitely authentic? I’m not doubting you, I just always like to make sure as I’ve seen SO many fake Louboutins on eBay and people getting caught out with them, I hate it when that happens!
I know! Yes, I went through the forum and made sure. I have seen so many fakes on eBay and poshmark so finding real ones takes a good eye and some investigating haha.
Author
I’m so glad you are savvy! It happens all too often. Perhaps you could ask on the forum too if that particular style might run bigger? I know all of his shoes vary in sizing, so maybe they might if they are older? I’ve never tried them or seen them in person.
I will try that. I haven’t seen them in person either so I’m super excited haha.
Author
Good luck! Let me know how it goes!
Hello Lorna! I am thinking about buying a pair of Simple Leather Pumps. I am normally a size 9 and have a wide foot. Which size would your suggest ? Thank you 🙂
Author
Hi, I would say go with your regular size to begin with 🙂 It truly varies on his shoes and if you haven’t tried them before, it’s often easiest to try your regular size then exchange based on that. I’m a 39 in Jimmy Choo and a 39.5-40 in Louboutin.
Hello!
Just looking for a bit of advise – I just bought the CL Iriza in red satin (and my God they are lovely!) In my Pigalles and Lady Peeps I am a 5.5 and the site said the Iriza’s ran true to size so I got them in the same size. My right foot fits pretty much perfectly and my left slightly loose but it does not slip off when I walk.
I was contemplating going down to a 5 so that they are a bit tight but then I am not sure if they will be too tight? Is it best to get them tight and try to break them in or keep this and just put some heel grips in?
Thank you 🙂
Aimee
Author
Hey Aimee 🙂 Which site did you get them from? I know those shoes are stunning! The red satin on them is really luxurious isn’t it? If they don’t slip off and they fit you well and are comfortable, I would stay with them. I’m not sure how much satin stretches as I don’t own any satin CL’s, but I can’t imagine it’s anywhere near as much as leather? It might be worth researching! I used to size down in all my Louboutins so they would stretch to fit, but because they were so tight, I never wore them enough to stretch them. It was catch 22. Now I keep my size that fits me without pain, even if it’s slightly loose, as long as they stay on my feet, I wear them lots so they get the most use! But I would look in to seeing if satin stretches. How big are they though, can you fit your finger in the back?
Hey Lorna,
I got them from Net-a-porter – couldn’t find them anywhere else except sold out on the US CL website! Yeah it is lovely and the cut out sides look great too 🙂 Yes I do think this is the best option too but just wanted a bit of reassurance really because if they are too tight, like you say I won’t wear them as much or have blister plasters everywhere!! In regards to how big, I think probably a little finger width just on the left shoe? No I didn’t think the satin would stretch and online there is hardly anything about it – just how to stretch them… I do think I will keep these, I just bought some heel liners and some pads just in case so hopefully they will stay on all night tomorrow at my Christmas party!!
Thanks for the help 🙂
Aimee

I hope they do too! It would be great if you could let me know how the satin goes as it might help others too 🙂 I’m sure you will be the envy of all the women in those, ha ha 🙂
Hi Lorna,
I just received my So Kate Louboutins in size 37. My first time trying on So kate it feels like it fits until i stand up with them and noticed one finger could fit in towards the back. I never try on the 36.5 so I don’t know how it feels. Im not sure if I should exchange them or not! When i walk with them it doesn’t fall off my feet YET since its brand new and hugs my feet. Im afraid if I get size 36.6 it might be too tight and i’ll get blisters! Should I just stick to size 37 and get the back cushion to help? Also its winter here in NYC and my feet basically shrink because of the cold. If I walk in them during the summer or just wearing pumps in generally, feet normally swells up…. For the long run: I also heard that after pregnancy your feet size goes up 1/2 to whole size…. Please help me decide. Thank you!
Author
Hi, is this your little finger that can fit in the back or your bigger finger? If it’s the littler finger, it might be ok with a heel grip, but they will stretch a bit so they might stretch out more. I know what you mean about heat and cold making your feet swell and shrink, so maybe they might be better in the summer when your feet are warmer. And in some cases, pregnancy does make the feet swell up, sometimes more than a size with the water retention, but some people have their feet go back to normal and others end up with their feet still bigger. In truth, it really has to be a decision you make on your own as I can’t see your shoes and I can’t see how your feet look or feel, sorry!
Thanks! I decided to keep them since its about a pinky loose and i’l get the heel grip to help fit my back a lil.

Good luck!
Hi Lorna, I’m so flag I found you here! I bought my first pair Loubotin, Viveka 120 Suede size 36. It really is painful on my right foot as it feels so tight. I’m reading about your sock tricks. How many hours and how long would you recommend in doing so before the suede stretch? I’m hoping to be able to wear this beauty for 10 hours on my wedding day in few months time .. x
Author
Hi! It really depends, suede takes a lot longer to stretch, as it’s thicker, so you are going to need to wear them for a good few days before they give a bit. You need to make sure you can move your feet around in them a lot too and really get used to them as 10 hours is a long time for anyone to wear Louboutins, I don’t think I could do it, ha ha! And congratulations on your wedding!
Thanks, Lorna!! I know it’s going to be painful but I’m hoping to sit a lot haha. Cheers.
Author
Ha ha, good luck!
Hey, Lorna
I just wanted to know is the fit different between a patent leather vs soft leather. I have several CL’s in leather and I normally wear a 9. I want to purchase the pigalle 120 in nude patent and just want some insight before I purchase. I’m ordering from the CL site and I’m wearing them NYE. So if the fit isn’t right I wouldn’t have enough time to send them back and exchange. Any information is greatly appreciated.
Author
Hi Koron, I find the leather to fit more softly, so maybe just a bit softer and stretchier than the patent leather, that can be quite tough, but in terms of sizing, I am not 100% sure as all Louboutins vary. I have some in 39 up to a 40.5 and in different fabrics, so it’s really hard to tell. I haven’t tried the exact same pair in different leathers, sorry!
Hello again,
I’m looking at getting some Daffodile 160mm Watersnake purple platforms but I’m unsure if I should get my typical size. I’m usually a 38 in other styles, but have never tried this style on before. I’m buying through a private seller so I want to make sure they fit! Hope all is well with you.

Hi, I’m sorry I don’t know much about the exotic skins as I don’t wear them and I haven’t ever tried the Daffodile either, but maybe check on TPF!
Hi! My hubby bought me the Tibor Patent CL for Christmas in size 40.5 and they were too small. We were able to find the Irizia in kid leather in 41.5 and order those. I still wondering about the fit. They feel okay/tight of course. But now I just noticed that there is a small crease in the shoe on side of the shoe that face the inside of the leg. Does this mean that they are too small? I have a pic and can send if u if this doesn’t make sense.
Author
Hi, I have a couple of creases in my leather ones, I think it’s mainly due to the leather being so soft and supple. Mine aren’t too small on me and I still get that issue. They will stretch out, the kid leather stretches a lot!
Hi Lorna! So I just received my d’orsay leather pumps today. I love the style (so sexy) but I’m having trouble with the fit. I usually wear an 8.5 but got the 9 because I was told they run narrow. Now, the front is a bit too tight and squishing my toes, but there’s a slight gap in the back and I feel like my heel is slipping out! I kind of have a problem with them being too big and too small
Author
Hi Heather! I think that’s a common problem with the D’Orsay pumps, they are extremely narrow so they really will squash your toes, a lot like the Pigalle do, so they might actually be too big on you if your feet are slipping out and there’s a gap. They are just a painfully narrow shoe unfortunately. I keep mine bigger though, I have a gap at the back of my Pigalle because I can’t stand the pain of having them fit and the toe box completely killing my toes. I guess it depends if you can cope with them a little looser, perhaps try some heel grips? The foam ones work better than the gel ones.
I definitely think any smaller would kill in the toe box. I can deal with them a little bigger and try different things to make them fit more snug in the back. I’ll try the heel grips, but your idea of double sided tape also sounds genius! There isn’t too much of a gap but still a little slippage, so that may do the trick perfectly! Does it really hold securely all night?

I haven’t tried it for a night out, but it holds for quite some time, depending on what tape you use though. The Hollywood tape seems to be really good since it’s designed for skin and fabric. It might wear off after time if you are dancing and sweating, but if it’s just sitting and a bit of walking or standing, you should be ok. Even when mine wears off, the tacky feeling of the tape creates enough friction to keep the shoes on still. Good luck!
Hi Lorna! Do you own No Matter? I really like the style but not sure about sizing. I own a couple of Louboutins, a pair of boots (no idea what the name is as I got them from Neiman Marcus Last Call which did not have the orig box) in 37.5 and a pair of sandals named Martha in 37. I wear 37 or 37.5 in Jimmy Choo and 36 or 36.5 in Gucci. I have to order online as it is not available in local dept stores in my area so I have yet to try them on. Thanks for your help!
Author
Hi Dawn, I’m sorry! I haven’t tried the No Matter before. They do have a peep toe though which means there’s room for movement in sizing. Generally for me, boots are .5 to 1 size smaller so I have to size up, and open toes are bigger, so I size down. Maybe try the 37? Since both of those are open toe?
Hi Lorna, my husband surprised me with a pair of lady peeps 6inc in pat last night. I am normally a 37 and that is what he got me but when i put them on my 3 smallest toes curl/bend over and i have massive toe clevage. Should i try and stretch or are they way too small? Thank u so much!
Author
Hi Adrienne! How is the length? Are they really squashed at the back? The length is how you tell if a shoe fits or not, so if that fits fine, they aren’t too small, but probably too narrow a style for your foot. I hope that helps!
Wow! so much information about CL shoes. I’m really confused. I just want to surprise my wife with a pair(s) for Valentine’s Day. She’s a 7.5 shoe….I’m looking at the Chiarana 100mm and/or the Decollete 100mm
Author
Unfortunately I can’t tell you what to buy because every woman’s foot is different. Some are narrow, wide, shorter, longer, longer toes, short toes, slim ankles, high arches, flat feet etc. All his shoes run differently, varying greatly in sizing, plus some of the styles are not suited to some feet. Maybe you should surprise her by saying you want to buy her a pair of Louboutins or take her to the boutique as a surprise and she can buy them there?
Hi, Just wondering if anyone has sizing experience when it comes to the Iriza Half D’Orsay Pumps 45mm heel.
I am desperate for a pair of these but have to order online as there is no CL store near me! I have Pigalle 85mm in size 38 – should of got 38.5 and Simple Pumps 85mm in 37.5mm – should of got 38mm!!!
Are they a similar fit to the Pigalle? Any help appreciated, thanks
Author
I haven’t tried that one, but hopefully someone has!
Hi guys. I have a pair of Rolando and the elastic bands at the back of the shoes are killing me! I usually end up with blisters whenever I wear my Rolando. Anyone has the same experience? How do you deal with the annoying elastic band? So tempted to snip it but I am not sure if the shoes will end up being too loose! HELP!
Author
Hi, the Rolando doesn’t have an elastic band on the back to my knowledge? The Rolande Boucle did, but not the Rolando. Would you be able to show me yours and what you mean?
Hi there! Wondering if I should size up on Sat Kate 37. I can comfortably fit a 36.5 with a slight toe squish however this size isn’t in stock. 🙁 not sure if 37 will be too big and give me heel slippage. Thanks!
Author
I actually haven’t tried the So Kate before, so I’m not 100% sure on the sizing. What shoes of his can you fit size 36.5 in? 🙂
^So Kate
Author
It’s ok, I knew what you meant, ha ha.
I’m a size 6.5 US and pretty much a 37 in the CL’s I’ve tried on. Maybe I’ll ge the 37 anyways and stick some insoles if they’re a bit big 🙂
Author
If you are a 37 in the ones you have tried, I would say you should be ok! The So Kate remind me of Pigalle, which I size up half in anyway as they narrow toe box is really tight, so hopefully they work for you 🙂
I’m so glad i found this site! I just bought my first pair of Pigalles in 100mm in black patent, they are so beautiful, I would say my feet are a normal width but not narrow since I have put on a little weight in the past few years. I was debating on getting the simple pump or the pigalles, I opted for the classic Pigalle (kind of wish i could get the simple pump but i cant find them now), I am a true 7.5, can do 7 in some shoes but typically am 7.5, I’m a 37.5 or 37 in LK Bennett. I ordered the 38 in my Louboutins, when I first tried them on I could barely get my toes in, not cute at all. I don’t mind toe cleavage but my pinky toe was so squished and I don’t want to keep them if they will always look like my feet are coming out of them because that really isn’t attractive. I wore them around in 2 pairs of socks and blew dry them, it worked surprisingly well but the toe box is still tight where my pinky toe is. So … I asked Neiman Marcus to send me the 38.5 in regular leather, patent is on back order, to try them. These are stressing me out! So I have a couple questions, the length in the 38 are perfect so, I’m afraid the 38.5 will be too big and when they stretch out get even bigger. Plus I don’t have forever to change my mind but i want to give them adequate time to stretch. After wearing them a few times will they form to my feet and flatten a little bit in the toe? They are so uncomfortable however, I am surprised how much they stretched already with the blow dry method but I still need them to stretch more. I have read they eventually form to your feet and are actually quite comfortable. sorry for the ramble, i just don’t know what to do, please help, I can’t keep these if they don’t get more comfortable where my toes are so squished because as pretty as these are, if you look ridiculous walking in them, that’s not worth it to me, thanks for any help you can give.
Author
Hi Heather, it might actually be because you tried the patent leather. It’s quite thick and stiff in patent so it doesn’t give a lot of wiggle room. My Pigalle are the 100mm in Black Kid, so they are actually comfortable. I did size up half in them though so that I have a little bit of a gap at the back, bit it helps a lot with the comfort of your toes. I do have Pigalle in my regular size and I never wear them due to the pain of the toes being squashed. The leather ones do form to your feet after some time, but the patent ones don’t really do that. I hope that helps a little bit? My advice is if they are really squished and hurt, you wont wear them and they will cause you stress, so make sure you get a pair that are comfortable!
I’m so glad that I found this page! I am working on breaking in my size 38 Pigalle Folies 100mm. So far they are a bit large as I sized up half a size, but I am going to try your foam heel grip method and maybe put in a nice gel or wool wicking ball pad. Hopefully that will make the half size up fit perfectly. This is my first time in Loubs, did I bite off more than I can chew?
🙂
Author
How big are they? I have a little fingers gap worth at the back of mine and I don’t worry too much about it, but if they are so big that they fall off with each step, you probably need to size down 🙂
Hi Lorna! So my first pair of Loubs came in the mail today. They are patent leather So Kates. I didn’t get to try them on in the store before purchasing because none of the stores around me had this style in a size around what I’d fit. I know you said you’ve never bought So Kates before, but any help would be appreciated. I’m a U.S. 7.5, & I have a wide & mostly flat foot, so I bought my So Kates in a 38.5. The tight toe box is there of course (I feel like my pinky toe is trying to jump ship) & there is a gap in the back, enough to where I can slip one finger in all the way to the bottom. After reading what you said about breaking them in & the stretching, I’m on the fence about returning them for a half size smaller. Advice? Thanks! 🙂
Author
Hi Ashley 🙂 Is that your big or little finger that you can fit into the shoe? Is the toe box so painful that it’s not going to be bearable to walk in them? Or just a little annoyance? They do sound too big in length from the sounds of it, but if the toe box is already painful, going down a half size is going to make that worse. Let me know!
It’s my index finger. I wouldn’t say unbearable, just an annoyance. I just don’t want them to be flopping off my feet when I do finally break them in.
Author
That’s quite a big gap. Do they slip already?
No they’re not slipping now.
Author
It might be ok since the toe box is really tight, my Pigalle 100 do have a gap at the back and they don’t fall off when I wear them because the toe box keeps them on. But it does depend entirely on the shape of the feet and how much you plan on wearing them. Is there any chance you could try the smaller size and see if it works, if not, keep those?
I’ll see if I can get my hands on a smaller size & then go from there. Thanks Lorna!

Good luck!
Hi lorna, really glad I came across this and would appreciate your help please. I have purchased 120mm so kate patent for my partner few weeks ago and I just surprised her with it today as it was her birthday today. she is a size 3uk and I asked the person at the store if it is true to size or shall I take half size smaller he was so sure it fits true to size so I purchaded uk3. Now she wore it today, as we went out. There is a small gap in the heel and also around the edge, where the little finger is, it’s really tight and found it really uncomfortable to walk in. It was not slipping off or anything. Now I cannot exchange as its been more than 10 days as advised and it’s been worn, so wondering will the stretching method do the trick? Thank you for your help
Author
If it’s only tight at the toe box and has a gap at the back, that’s common and normal. I would recommend just wearing half a sock, so fold it down so it only covers from the half of the foot to the toes. This is a good method of stretching the toe box without the rest of the shoe. Good luck!
Hi lor a. Love your blog. I have 2 pairs of CL. The new declic 120mm side royal and Belle 100mm calf leather booties in 36.5. Purchased from Harvey Nicholls in London 1-2 years ago. I’m a UK size 4. The sales assistants told me to go 1/2 size smaller. even trying them on they were really tight. I have really small toes but man, they hurt. They told me both would stretch over time (both purchased seperately). I have never worn them as they are so painful. Hubby is now banning me from buying anymore as o don’t wear there. I heard about the sock trick but that’s making it more painful. Do I perservere or keep them for my 2 daughters to wear in 10 years time?
Sorry meant Lorna and suede royal.
Author
Hi Rups, gosh they do sound painful! I generally don’t size down as they become so tight it’s impossible to wear them and I always size up in a boot too as I find them to run smaller. Are they so tight that it’s impossible to walk and they kill your feet? Or just uncomfortable? The sock trick works if they are uncomfortable as it stretches them enough to fit better, but if they are really painful and terrible, it wont work enough.
Hi again Lorna. I tried them on again with pop socks (like sticking material) and I can get my feet in! Woohoo. I rang Louboutin and mentioned I couldn’t get my feet in without severe pain and she mentioned that it may be due to skin-to-leather friction and pop socks would help. Once the severe discomfort has gone, I can wear cotton socks and stretch them out or take them to a cobbler to be stretched. The assistant have me a contact in London that deals with such designer shoes. Anyway, with the pop socks on, the discomfort is towards the toes in the Declics and the widest part of the feet with the Belle booties (I’m guessing with most people this is where the weight of body falls and also the tightest part of booties themselves). Not sure how long they both will take to stretch out. any ideas how many hours of wesr loosens them? Thanks xx
Author
That’s great you got them on! You generally notice some stretch (with socks) after about 2 hours of constant wear, but I don’t think the pop socks will stretch them out as they are super thin. I’ve never had a cobbler stretch my shoes though, I worried about that too much as I had a fear they might end up out of shape! Perhaps you could ask someone who might have had that done if it’s any good!
I am quite reluctant to go to cobbler too but she said all designers go there for London fashion week when fitting models feet etc. I’m going to work my way into the cotton shoes. Worse case scenario, they don’t fit then my daughters who are aged 7 and 5 can have them in 8-10 years time. I like the style of both. I have a pair of Christian Dior in suede and I purchased my actual shoe size and they became one size larger with wear!
Author
Hopefully this works out for you then! I really hope it does! I don’t usually wear mine enough to warrant them to stretch a whole size, which is why I don’t size down anymore. Let me know how it goes!
Thanks Lorna. The Diors were worn 8am-6pm Monday to Friday for months on end! Then the babies came! I’ll let you know how I get on. Thanks
Hi,
I have the Nilo Kid 120 size 39, when I wear them they seem to slide out when I walk. I put the back heel grips on the back but still seem to slide out time to time. Did you put the double side tape on the heel grip?
Author
Hi, no I traded the heel grip out for the tape on the back of the shoe. As long a they fit length wise, that should be fine to put the tape on the back of the shoe to stick to your foot.
Hi Lorna,
I just went through almost all of the Q&As on here! Now that I educated myself a bit on fit and everything, I’d like to ask you a few things.
Background: yesterday I brought home New Simple Pumps 120mm in 38 and 38.5, both patent and am now debating which pair to go back to the store.
In 38.5, the gap between the heel and the back of the heel is ~4mm(3/16″) and no finger can fit in, but they tend to slip off especially when wearing stockings. Toes are more comfy than the size 38. The only thing that bothers me is the gap at the back… I watched hundreds of pics online to see if the gap is normal but everyone seems to have no gap at all.
In 38, on the other hand, leaves no gap and fits perfectly, but the toe areas and widths are even narrower. I can still walk in these and they don’t slip off easily. What 38 bothers me is how my toes fit.
So if I go with the 38.5, I can get the heel grips and if I decide to keep 38, I can try the sock trick. I have been trying them on by turns for hours now and still can’t decide what to do. If you could give me more advise, I would really appreciate it!
Author
Hi, it does also depend on how much you will wear them. If you plan on wearing them a lot then they will stretch out with wear and get bigger. If the toe box is too painful on the 38 then you probably wont want to wear them, but if they slip off on the 38.5, I would probably recommend the 38 and stretch them out. You said you can walk in the 38 and it’s just a bit uncomfortable, so with some stretching, that should fit ok. The 38.5 will probably end up too loose in the long run if you wear them a lot. Hopefully that helps?
Hi, thanks for the quick reply! I was thinking the same thing too. Hopefully they will stretch out. I got nude but might exchange them for black 🙂
Author
Good luck 🙂 The black might fit differently, so make sure you try them on!
Hi lorna I just brought my first pair of cl Saturday the so Kate ‘s in black but in the pinky toe it’s to tight will stretching it work
Author
I would say give it a go and see! It doesn’t ruin the shoes in anyway, so just keep them on carpeted surface while you do it and see if it works out. It should do!
Hi, I ordered a new simple pump in black in a 39.5 but i could not get the back of my foot in 🙁 I am ordering a new size now and I’m not sure what size i should get because the 40.5 is sold out. So my choices would be 40 or 41. What do you think ?
Author
Hi, when you say can’t get your foot in, how small were they? 🙂
Hi there! I literally just got a pair of lady peeps off the Neiman Marcus Website and they aren’t painful at all but I noticed there isn’t much circulation in my toes when i tried them on. I typically wear a 6.5 in heels and so I got a 36.5. Will that change if i try the sock trick?
Author
Hi! They might just stretch out over time anyway, if they fit you well now, no pain etc and the length is good, I would be worried about doing the sock trick as you might make them too big. With Louboutin, it’s common to have numb toes really, but it does go away after time. Good luck!
So I plan on buying my first pair of loubs for graduation but I’m not sure what size to get. At first I wanted the Jane Vendome, but the closets store by me only has a size 37, I wear u.s. Size 8.. Wuld the 37 be too small? They also have the N• Privé but they only have a size 39 1/2.. Would that be too big ?
Author
I’m not sure what size a US 8 is in European sizing as UK sizing is different to US, is that a 6 UK?
Yes I believe a u.s. 8 is a UK size 6
Author
A 6 translates to a 39 so I would make a start there and see how it goes. I’m between a 6 and 7 and I take a 39.5 – 40. It always varies from shoe style too though, some run big, some run small. Trying them on would be your best bet really.
Im a US size 8. I bought a Decollette in Patent Leather 39. Its tight, in the toe, but not “Unbearable”. My heals sort of slips out the back, as if my heal doesn’t sink all the way down. It sort of make my toes look wrinkly in the “toe cleavage” Will they stretch? Im considering trading them for Argotik 120 Black Patent Pumps 39.5. Ive never tried on Argotik. The Argotik comes in narrow, and I don’t know if I have what would be considered a “Wide” foot or just an average width. I’m torn on keeping the Decollette or trading for the Argotik.
Author
Hmm, so your foot doesn’t fit flat against the insole of the shoes? That does sound like the length is too short if you can’t fit your foot in correctly. Perhaps you could trade them for the 39.5 in the Decollette if they are too small? I haven’t tried the Argotik so I can’t say for certain how they fit, sorry!
My hubby recently bout me the decolette in 100 mm black suede and the very new prive in 120mm. I wore the 100 mm out for the first time and my feet kept sweating so bad that the shoes were falling off..the shoes are not too big but because of the pointed toe there is a bit of a slip factor….any suggestions? I love them and want to wear them but felt really silly lol…
Author
Hi, I would suggest maybe using the tape to hold your feet in? That’s really what I have to do on my shoes as they don’t stay on. We might have similar ankles, cut quite narrow so there’s nothing for the shoes to grip. The tape will leave a bit of a mark, but it works well and you can’t really see it since it’s inside.
Hi,
I have the Pigalle Plato patent 120mm in 39 and now lusting for the Decollete 100mm in kid. The decollete’s in 39 fit but my question is will the kid leather stretch? Should I go down half a size? I just don’t want the 39’s them to stretch out and have slippage. Any advice would be fab! x
Author
Hi, yeah kid leather does stretch. It stretches the most out of patent and suede and leather, but only if you wear them a lot. If you are keeping them as a going out shoe so you wont wear them that often, you should be fine, they will only stretch a huge amount if you wear them a huge amount. Hope that makes sense!
Hi! I am a sucker for high heels and desperately want to buy some CLs for my graduation, but I’m having a little trouble on deciding which ones (all I want is either black or nude ones so I can wear them again and again). I’m a size 38 or 38.5 in shoes (it depends on the type) and have wide feet and was wondering if you could recommend any that are 120mm or taller (I am a tiny 5’2″ and want to be as tall as possible)!! I have read many of they above posts and have learnt that CLs run small and large depending on the shoe and aren’t all that comfortable, but I am willing to power on through some pain because I want a pair so bad!!!
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Author
Hi, if you have wider feet, I definitely don’t recommend something like Pigalle as even with narrow feet, those hurt. I would say something with a rounded toe would be best. The Bianca was a great style if you can still find it, but I’m not hugely familiar with some of the brand new styles as I haven’t tried them yet. I’d just simply say stick to a rounded toe so they will be a little more comfortable for you! But the sizing is hard to judge, they do run different on every shoe and the material too. Perhaps go with your usual bigger size of 38.5 and see how you go from there. Can you not try any on in a store? It would be really helpful!
Hi Lorna,
I really hope you can help me. I bought a pair of nude patent 120mm Very Prive as my wedding shoes last September. They fit fine (although hurt a little after 9 hours!). I’m attending another wedding this weekend and thought I’d wear my louboutins around the house to get used to them again. When I walk, the left shoe makes a noise when the heel connects to the floor almost like air being released. Have you ever come across this problem and do you know the remedy?
Thanks,
Sarah x
Author
Hi Sarah! You were lucky to come across those! The nude is harder to find. Which boutique did you get them? I’ve not heard of this noise before, do you mean your foot on the insole makes the air noise or the actual heel against the ground?
Hi Lorna, so so happy i found this post!
I just bought a pair of navy suede iriza 100mm, size 7. In heels, i usually wear 7 or 7.5. When i tried the 7.5 in the story, i kept on feeling like the shoe wanted to come off my foot. But now i feel like if i practice standing up in them (to see how long i can last and practice longer times) and walking around, the toe box may be too small. Im not sure what’s better: a show that’s a little small but that i can try to stretch.. Or a shoe that’s too big so i add tape or insoles etc. Thanks for your help!
Author
Hi, sorry I only just found your comment! This comes down to personal preference really, it’s entirely how you want to go. For me, I prefer to have them a bit bigger and pad them out because it’s less painful than squashing my toes and stretching. I used to pick the smaller shoe, but then I realised I never wore them enough because of the pain, so it was pointless. But it’s up to you and what you can manage! Good luck!

Any suggestions for fit for this style of shoe? thank you!
Author
Sorry, I haven’t tried that one.
Hi, my other half got me black Patent Pigalle 120’s last Christmas, I’m normally size 38 but he was advised to get me 37.5 due to the heel height. I’ve worn them twice with great difficulty as its extremely tight, especially round my toes. have contacted costumer services and they obviously cannot take it back or exchange its been worn.
they did advice getting cobblers to stretch it for me though, has anyone tried this? I really love the shoe but the thought of wearing it again is giving me anxiety. 🙁
the sock trick will just not work as its too tight.
any help will be appreciated
thanks
Author
I know that a lot of people recommend sizing down on Pigalle, but honestly, never do it. The toe box on them is so tight that it’s best to have a little gap at the back of the shoe than it is to have your toes entirely crushed. If they are so tight that you can’t get a sock on, you could try heating the insides gently with a hair dryer then wearing them with a sock, that should stretch them a bit. Numerous ladies have stretched their shoes at a cobblers though and it’s worked out. You would just need to be careful that they don’t get out of shape as the Pigalle are a very specific shape. Or maybe, if it wont work, you could sell them and get a size up? 🙂
Thank you.. Their customer services recommended cobblers and they will send it off for me apparently and get it stretched for £10 so might give it a try and then yes selling and buying the correct size is always an option
Thank you 🙂

Good luck with it! Let us know how you get on 🙂
Hi I have just bought my first pair of louboutins for my wedding next year.i got the new very prive in nude patent.in the shop i tried them in black and a 6 felt fine.so I did mail order to get them in nude.they have come today and feel really tight around the toe. The lady in he shop did say they stretch a lot so now I’m hesitant weather to return for half a size up or Try stretch them out.im currently sat with socks on hoping they will stretch but my toes are numb is this normal.im scared if I return them they may be too big in length but then again maybe this would be easier to deal with I’m so unsure.
Author
Hi, some colours and even the same shoes in the same colour can run differently. Each Louboutin is hand made, so it’s why they vary in sizing. If you can walk in them and they are a bit tight, but not painful, they should stretch ok. If they are so tight you want to take them off because they hurt so much, then get a bigger size. The shoes generally only stretch if you plan on wearing them a lot, so you would need to stretch and break them in a lot before your wedding to make sure you are comfortable on the day. It is normal for numbness to happen when you wear socks with them, but don’t do it for too long as it gets painful. Good luck!
Hello! My husband is leaving for the USA (from Australia) next week and is going to buy me my first ever CL whilst over there. I am thinking the Simple Pump as a classic, goes-with-everything type shoe that I can wear when going out for cocktails (I’m a mum so don’t really go out much). Do you know if they’re comfortable?
How would you recommend hubby goes about getting the right size? I was thinking of giving him a shoe (non CL) of mine to take with him so they can measure the length, etc? My feet are 22.5cm in length and I wear a 37 in Mimco shoes (I range between a size 6-6.5-7 depending on brand)… I am just stressing out a little because it’s a lot of money for us and I want to be able to wear them!
Author
Hi Megs, that’s kind of him! I think the simple is one of the most comfortable CL shoes as it’s a rounded toe so there shouldn’t be squishing of the toes, but it does depend completely on if you have wide feet. As far as CL goes though, that is one of the best to get for a classic shoe that you can wear often. I haven’t actually tried it myself, so I can’t say how it runs and I haven’t heard of Mimco shoes either, so I don’t know how they run for comparison. CL can literally be all over the place, I have some in a 39, 39.5, 40, 40.5 and even a 41… It’s crazy how different they can be. Maybe him taking one of your shoes would be a good idea and see how that goes. Is there anywhere near you that you can try them on first and see how that goes?
Thanks for replying so quickly! We don’t have anywhere close to us that I can try them on, we are in a city but it’s very small and we don’t have much in the way of designers. That’s more in Sydney and Melbourne which are about 12-hours away.
Oh mimco is an Australian label, whoops!
I’ll just get him to take a show of mine and hope for the best. I am petite with narrow-ish feet so I think width wise I will be fine 🙂
Author
Good luck 🙂
Hi! I hope you can help me, I’m planning on getting the Mago pumps. They will be my first CL ‘s. Do you have one? Are you familiar on how the sizing goes? I’m a 61/2, but a bit wide. Should I get the 37? Thank you!
Author
Hi, no I haven’t tried them and don’t own them, so I’m not 100% sure how they run. Will you be getting them from a boutique?
Hi, I’m torn between the 39 and 39.5 nude patent in Fifi 100. The 39 fit snug with toe cramping and 39.5 fit well but have a gap of a few mm’s at the back. I worry that my feet will swell in 39 and they will hurt, I’ll only wear for nights out. What are your thoughts. I’m normally a 39 in Jimmy choo etc. I also ordered the dorrissima in 39 – but couldn’t get them to fit in toe box, they were worse than Fifi!
Author
I would personally go with the bigger size, in terms of pain I know first hand that if you’re standing on your feet for a while, dancing or something like that, your feet will swell up a lot as the blood and heat will go to them, so the pain in the 39’s (if it’s painful anyway( will increase and probably make them unbearable. I’ve been there. I always go for a slight gap at the back now as it’s much more comfy when the feet swell up, if they do slip a bit, you can use the tape trick if you need to, or a little heel grip, but I would definitely not want the pain they give when your feet are hot. I hope that helps!
I’m thinking to stick to my size 39 and deal with the gap cause to be honest the 38.5 was still painful even with the gap
Author
I’m usually a 40 in most shoes and took a 40 in my Pigalle, I have them in a 39.5 and they kill my toes with just a .5 size different. I have a little finger gap at the back of the heel, but the shoes are comfortable so I’m fine with it. I think going up to a bigger size is wise.
Hello X
I wondered if you could give me some advice on if my new Irizas fit ok X they are nude patent and 100m heel X my lovely husband brought them for me for Christmas I’ve never owned a pair before now.
They are a size 37 and without a shoe petal I can fit a finger down the back of the heel. With a show petal the gap is closed and I can just about get my little finger in X they do feel like they will fall off my feet a bit but then I have reasoned they are a dainty shoe.
I have debated about changing them for a 36.5 but when I mimicked this with a double shoe petal In place my toes felt squashed ….
I’m not sure really weather to keep the 37 and get a heel grip ( is that going to work with a little finger of pace at the back)
But I’m worried about them stretching and becoming too big but then also if I get a half size smaller will they been too painful.
I Also have a slight bunion which in the 37 isn’t pressured X
help !

That’s the trouble we all have, size up or size down. I usually stick with the shoe being bigger, with a little gap at the back because the smaller the shoe, the more it crushes my toes and is so painful that I hate wearing them. Patent doesn’t stretch as much as nappa or kid I find, but it’s really down to personal preference and whether you want comfort and slightly too big or pain and it fits. I can fit a little finger int he back of my Pigalle and they never fall off when I walk as the shoes aren’t too heavy, so perhaps the Irizas wont fall off you?
Hi Lorna I just bought daffodile 160 glitter gold louboutin but the back of the ️️shoe does not fit well my heel even showing a little bit please help
Author
Hi, sorry, I’m not sure how to help. Where did you purchase them from?
The first Louboutin shoe I bought was the lady peep 150mm in a size, 37.5 as I’m a size normal 37 I thought to size up a half, when I first put them on they actually fitted perfect but then I wore them to go somewhere and they were much too big, kept slipping off my foot allday, ruined the day. My next buy of Louboutin was the bianca 140mm and I got them in a size down, size 36 and when I put them on first they felt a bit too small, so I wore them inside for a couple days and broke them in with socks aswell, then I wore them and they fitted perfect, didn’t slip off my foot either. Nothing worse then a shoe too big. I’ve bought a lot more shoes in a size 36 and once broke in, they all fit perfectly. So my advice is to step down a shoe size.
Author
It definitely depends on the leather of the shoe and how often you will be wearing them. My nappa or kid leathers have stretched a bit, but the patent and suede never does. So it’s definitely dependent on the shoe. I have various pairs in size 39 to 41, that’s how awkward it can be! Glad it’s worked for you though.
Hi! I’m so happy that I found you. I just ordered my first pair of patent new simple pumps. I wanted a pair that I could wear often. I am usually a size 8 so I got a 38 but my toes are definitely squished. Will the sock trick work. The 38.5s are more comfortable but I am afraid they will stretch…thanks 🙂
Author
I would go with the bigger gap at the back as you will wear them more, my shoes that fit length ways and crush my toes I never get enjoyment from wearing, I always wear the bigger, comfier ones 🙂
Hi Lorna
I’m a size 39 and was told the get a size 38 in patten pigalle. They kill my toes. I was Old they will stretch but it feels like that’s not happening. I’ve been wearing them around the house for 4 days now and no change in the pain. Do you think they will stretch and should I got up a size. I tried the 38.5 in the shop and it had a tiny gap, the sales person said the gap will get bigger
Author
Hi, if you have been wearing them for 4 days and no stretch, they are definitely too small, I’d exchange them for a bigger size.
Hi I have just bought my first pair of Christian louboutins I’m normally a uk 7 which is a 40 I have purchased the Culturella 45mm Kid/Patent in black/silver in a 7.5 or 40.5 do you think they will stretch? I can feel the edge of the inner sole under my left foot does this mean they are stretching
Author
Hi, not too sure what you mean by the edge of the inner sole under your foot, but they should stretch yes. All Louboutins stretch out and if you wear them with socks, they will stretch more. If they are looser to begin with then they wont stretch as much as a pair that are super tight to start with. Maybe read through all the hundreds of comments here on this post and see if it helps more with your thoughts. You got a gorgeous pair there! Thanks!
Hello lorna i am looking to buy the christian louboutin so kate patent leather pumps for my friend as a birthday gift do they run true to size or should i order a whole half size up she wears a size 10
Author
Hi Hervey, that’s really hard to say actually. Is she a 10 in other brands or a 10 in Louboutin do you know?
Hi Lorna,
I bought a pair of Dentelle Lace Dorissima Pumps in a 6.5 and 7 online. I was told in store that I was a 6.5 but to be perfectly safe I bought both knowing I could return one because it’s my wedding shoe. So I’ve got the 6.5 on and it does feel tight.. Would you suggest doing the sock routine to stretch a bit? My wedding isn’t until October 8, therefore, I know i have some time to stretch and I typically wear a 6.5 in heals anyways. Do you think this will work or any other suggestions? I am in LOVE with these and can’t wait for them to be my wedding shoe, but don’t want to not have feeling in my toes after the wedding 🙂
Thank you so much!

Hi 🙂 I actually have no experience with lace, but as it’s a non stretchy fabric, I’m inclined to think it wouldn’t stretch? I have no idea though as I only know the leather. I would ask on the Purse Forum as I’m sure a lot of ladies there will know! And congratulations on your wedding!
Hi Lorna,
I do not own a pair of CL’s yet!!! I am a UK size 6 with wide feet, what style would you recommend? I know you have mentioned the Simple pump, is there any other styles you would suggest?
🙂
Author
I would probably only recommend that one and the Bianca really, a lot of the others are extremely narrow 🙂
Hi Lorna
My husband just bought me my first pair of CL’s- So Kate 120 in disco glitter. They are beautiful! The problem I have is they seem to fit but are so high to walk in that at the minute I look like Bambi on ice! Awful! Have you any tips that would help? I can’t see any lower ones that I like as much! We are going out in a couple of weeks and I was planning on wearing them but although sitting will be ok I just can’t imagine walking about easily!
Thanks
Emma
Author
Hi Emma, unfortunately I can’t help you there, ha ha. I can’t walk in 120 either and I’ve heard it takes a while for some of the real Louboutin fans to learn how to walk in them too. My legs in 120’s are always bent forward and it’s just too painful, so I think some of us don’t have feet or legs that are made for shoes that high, I know I definitely don’t 🙁 The highest I can do is 100 and that’s good for me, do you not like the 100 height? I know the So Kate doesn’t come in 100, but Pigalle does and it’s extremely similar in shape, but much easier to walk in. You’re lucky you got disco glitter though, those are gorgeous 🙂
Thanks I am returning them and have re ordered the lower Picalle shoes!
Author
Good luck with it! I hope they’re easier to walk in! Let me know!
Hi ,
I just purchased the Pigalle 100 in 42.5 which is rare. The SA at an MYC boutique told me that they do have them, as well as a 43, on occasion. She told me they should get them in a few weeks and the online site should as well. She was right and I bought it from online. Now I am a US 11, I have the Bianca patent in 42, it hasn’t stretched and it is snug. I have the New Simple kid in 42, it has stretched and is slightly big. So I tried in the 42 Pigalle in the store it was snug and hurt my toes ( I also had on a Nylon) so I have received my 42.5 Pigalle’s and they fit perfectly they are not snug and there is no tie pain or slippage. I’m just afraid they will stretch and become too big. Should O and them back and go for the 42 and wait until they stretch? Or should I keep them and use padding as of right now there is little to no gap.
Btw, I think your blog is great.
Author
Hi Monique! Thanks for stopping by. Can you tell me what material the Pigalle are? Are they patent or normal soft leather?
Hi
I was wondering if someone could help me, my girlfriend is a size 37 which she has with her valentinos which fit ok but I want to get her the peep toe patent in black but I’m not sure whether I should get a 37.5 being a bloke I’m not great at this so can someone please help.
Kind regards
Jamie
Author
Hi Jamie,
That is a tough question actually as each Louboutin shoe runs differently (I vary between a 39-40.5) so it might depend on which peep toes you are wanting to get her? Do you have the link?
Hi
Yes this is the link https://eu.christianlouboutin.com/uk_en/shop/women/lady-peep-patent.html

Those ones are beautiful! I haven’t tried this pair in particular, so my advice would be to ask the ladies on The Purse Forum, in their sizing thread, I think they might be able to help you there. Good luck! She’s a lucky lady!
Thank you very much
Hey I have a question. Today I received a paid if Bianca’s in patent leather in 39 but they are too big! I can fit a finger behind each heel( one with less room as my left foots smaller) now I’m wondering should I order a full size down or half a size? I really don’t want to return them a second time. Thank you !
Author
Hi, I would try the full size down as half a size probably wont make much difference if you can fit a full size finger (not a little finger) at the back. Sometimes they vary in sizing though as they’re hand made, so some might be slightly bigger than others in that same size, so keep that in mind. Good luck!
Hi, I just purchased a pair of pigalle platform in a 39.5 I usually wear a size 9. I’m wondering if I should return them and go up to a 40? Do you think I could take them to a professional shoe stretcher?
Thanks,
Rosie
Author
Hi, this depends how they fit. Are they too tight?
Wow you’ve been answering louboutin questions for a long time! Thankyou for your wonderful advice. Right now I am trying the sock trick on a pair of Ron Ron’s I’m getting used to the toe cleavage but originally my toes looked like fat sausages shoved into a fabulous shoe. I think they are lossening up, but how long do you tend to take to break them in / stretch them? And if I put them away after this stretching session are they likely to go back to being tighter again? TIA
Author
Yeah, it’s been a really long time, ha ha. The sock trick I had to do for quite a few wears and for hours at a time, depending on how tight the shoes were. They might shrink back a bit, but what a lot of the ladies did was roll the socks into a ball and stuff them into the toe box of the shoes when you store them away to keep it stretched. Let me know how you get on!
Hi Lorna!
So glad I found your blog! I have the CL Miss Kawa in black patent size 38.5… I LOVE them! The 38.5 is a wee bit big feeling but the strap across the instep helps with that. My question is this I am ordering the New Simple 100MM in leather (not patent) and am normally an 8 US in other pumps/heels and am am wondering if I should go with the 38 or 38.5 as I am unsure how much they will stretch. Any suggestions on which size I should go with?
Author
Hi Teresa, I haven’t tried the Miss Kawa before, but I know the Simple is fairly rounded so it’s not too painful on the toe box. The leather stretches a lot more than the patent leather, so I find leather much more comfortable. If the 38.5 are a bit loose, I would maybe try the 38 in the Simple as it doesn’t have a strap. Then if it’s too tight, maybe exchange?
I hope you one with the 38.5?
This post must be one of the longest ever! Well done Lorna for answering each and every single query!
I received my 1st pair as a gift brought back from NYC – black patent Bianca – but they were just too small. Ouch! Thankfully was able to return to the store. Tried So Kate (imagine Cinderella’s step sister squeezing on that glass slipper). I found them so uncomfortable! They are gorgeous but it wasn’t meant to be… Then I half sized up in the Bianca… Toe box was still a bit of a nightmare on my left foot but have been prancing around at home trying the sock trick today and they are just about perfect!
Thank you soooo much! I thought I would have been in sheer agony for weeks trying to stretch them out but I think another couple of wears with my socks and they’ll be spot on.
My feet and I are eternally grateful for this wisdom you have bestowed upon us! Xxx
Author
You’re very welcome Ainsley! I’m glad the advice helped! I have been in your position many times and the sock trick works wonders! The So Kate are awful, I agree. I have Pigalle and I size up in those to stop the toe box crushing agony! So Kate are even higher, so no thanks, I will pass on those, ha ha.
Hi Lorna
The article and your advise is very good. What do you think is more comfortable, a higher heel height with more size in the shoe box or tigher shoe box and lower heel height? I have the Simple Pump in patent in 85mm and for me it’s quite comfortable. I am just wondering which CL to get next which would be similar in comfort. I don’t have that much choice as I have a 34.5 in that shoes. Thanks so much for your answer.
Author
Hi Mia, the toe box is the most important part! I have 85 Pigalle and they HURT lol. So getting the right size and a comfy toe box is what matters most compared to heel height in my opinion. I can’t do anything over 100 heel height though.
I love your article! I learned so many tips that I will definitely be applying! I did need some advice. I am usually a size 6 / 36. I went to purchased some Pigalle Follies in this size and the sales person noticed that it was a little big in the heel. I noticed the same thing. The only other size he had was 35. I tried those on and they were great around the heel portion, but the toe box was tight. The sales person said that these shoes were a better fit and that the toe box is usually small. He told me that it would take two (perhaps painful) weeks of wear, but the leather would definitely give. They are nappa leather, not patent. I bought the shoes, but am not terribly sure. These are the first pair of pointy toed heels I’ve purchased. Do you have any advice?
Author
Hi Aisha, unfortunately it depends on your tolerance level. I have to size up so I have a gap at the back in Pigalle purely because I can’t stand the pain crushing my toes, they never stretch ‘enough’ to ever be comfortable. If you can handle the pain, keep the smaller size, otherwise, a little gap at the back makes them much more comfortable, for me anyway!
Hi, Lorna… You mentioned “the lovely ladies of TPF.” May I ask who they are and what is TPF? I feel so out of the loop!
Author
TPF is The Purse Forum, there’s a whole section on that forum for Louboutin! https://forum.purseblog.com/forums/christian-louboutin.150/
Hi Lorna, I know this is an old blog, but you seem like you know a lot and I’m trying to sort out buying my second pair of CL, so hopefully you can help.
My first pair my husband bought me as a wedding day present ‘Very Prive’ these are open toe in 120mm heel. He was advised a whole size up, so instead of my normal size 3/36 I got a 4/37. With my excitement I wanted to wear them straight away, not taking note on the fit. Tight around the toe box, but about a finger gap loose at the back and now this is bothering me. They are tight around the toes as I have wide fit, and probably why I thought they fit ok.
Now I am trying to buy a second pair online, another ‘Very Prive’ open toe but different material across the front as they are the ‘Plexi Stud’ version. They only have a size 3/36, do I stick with my FR fit as the 37/4 are too big on the heel or will I be in complete pain across the toes?
Any advice and help would be great!
Thank you.
Author
Hi Fiona,
I would imagine the plex ones would be quite tight in the toe box as they have no stretch to them, it’s just the see through vinyl right? I always personally pick mine with more gap at the back because my toes get entirely crushed and it’s too uncomfortable to wear for me. You could always try them and return them if they’re no good though?
Thanks Lorna, I’ve gone for them… fingers crossed! I can return, the shop just charges a £15 admin fee! Let’s see how I get on! Thanks for the response!

Good luck with it! Let me know how it goes!
hi Lorna, hope all is well i have found a pair of so kate for my wifes birthday on ebay they are brand new, she tried them on as 41 is her size they fitted perfectly except in the toe part where they were very tight, is the so kate a shoe that can be stretched in the toe part? we tried the next size up in the louboutin store in chelsea and they were too big so to be able to stretch the so kates and make them abit wider would be perfect i can buy these for less than half price and they are brand new never worn what would you advise? thanks
Hi Lorna, I know this is a 10 year old post, but I’m wondering if you have any advice about the non-stiletto CLs, specifically the block heel Baobab 85. I am typically an 8.5, but the 8 I found on Tradesy seems to have the same length measurement as other heels I own, and one listing mentions the Baobabs run large. I have a wide feet, and I’m wondering if the block heels have wider or rounder toe boxes than the stilettos. I’m really hoping to make my first experience with CL a somewhat wearable one! Any help would be appreciated, and thanks for the great blog!
Author
Hi! Unfortunately I don’t have any experience with that style, I’m sorry!
Hello Lorna, I know this post is old but I was hoping you could help me. I bought my first CL heels and it fits my foot it’s self but it is a little too tight around the ankles (there is a strap there) and a little too tight around my toes. I am usually a 7/5 us or 37.5 CL according to cl website. I bought them second hand because I can’t afford fill price so returning them is not an option. I was wondering if you would suggest trying the sock method or taking them to a shoemaker to try to stretch them out? Or should I just give up and try to resell them? Also sorry if I sent this in so many times my laptop keeps crashing. Thank you!
Author
Hi, When you say a little to tight, how tight is that? Too painful to walk in? Are they leather? They’re second hand so this also depends on how much they were worn before and if they’re already stretched out?
Hi. I’m going to ask a question you might cringe to. I have CL Iriza 100 and I find them a tad too high for one ankle which I broke several years ago. Doesn’t move the same or as strong as the other ankle. I wanted to cut down the heel only a little to relieve the sharp angle. I’ve done it in the past to other less expensive shoes and it was great. What is your opinion for CL? Thanks
Author
I would say take them to a really good cobbler and see what they say. It would be a shame if it went wrong on such expensive shoes, but if it works and it doesn’t hurt your hips since your pelvis will be misaligned, it’s totally your choice!
Hello everyone! I bought a pair of Hot Chick 100s yesterday and I was debating between the 38 and 38.5, with my regular shoe size being an 8. I don’t think I have a wide foot, but not a particularly narrow foot either. The 38.5 were comfortable in the store with a small gap on my right foot. I went with the 38s because they stretch and were only tight on my left pinky toe. When I took them home and wore them for a bit, I noticed that the left side of the shoe was creasing as if my foot was too wide for them They aren’t particularly uncomfortable, but was worried about the appearance of the crease and was wondering if I should have gone up a size. Still have time to exchange then, but I don’t want them to be too loose in the future either!!
Thanks for all your help!
Author
Hi, as it turns out, it really is personal preference. Creasing sounds like it might be because the shoe is tight on the width of your foot, however, half a size up might do the same thing as the width doesn’t really change all that much. Are you able to go back and take the half a size up home with you as well? I know it’s extra funds, but perhaps a credit card could work? As you will be getting refunded for one pair once you decide. I always feel like it’s preferred to try at home and test them out.
Thank you for the fast reply!! I was thinking the same for the crease, as they dont get any wider. But it seemed as though the 38.5 was perfect for my left foot and the 38 perfect for my right, the dilemma!! Would you “sock” the left and squeeze in there, or run the risk of the right becoming too big??
Author
You’re welcome! Honestly it can entirely depend on the shoe too. I have tried 4 pairs of 39.5 and they all fit differently because they’re hand made. Perhaps you could go back to the store and ask to try on all of the pairs in each of those sizes? Some might be a little bigger or wider or smaller etc. as it’s an absolute nightmare with hand made shoes lol. I do this and I know others who do too. Same with leather jackets, I will try all the size UK 8’s on and get the best fit.
I found that when my shoes are too tight and painful, I don’t like to wear them much. It’s unpleasant and painful, so I realised I’d rather have them a little bigger, than hurting me. You have to wear them a lot to stretch them, so I guess it depends on how often you plan on wearing them? The Hot Chick 100 is more of an evening/going out shoe, with a 100mm heel, so I’m guessing you wont wear them all that much?
It may be too late, but I’d stay with the 38s. They will stretch and will end up fitting right, and a good long-term investment. The 39.5s are already too big on you, and will only get bigger the more you wear them.
As for that crease, that’s perfectly normal. That’s supposed to happen with a tight shoe; most good shoes are designed to mold to the foot and to break in. Within reason, I think it’s actually a good look.
So Christian L sneakers stretch?
Author
I haven’t tried the sneakers to know, sorry!
