(Here is a short story/article I wrote for Elle UK magazine but it didn’t get featured unfortunately. I wrote it a good few months ago but I thought I would share it with you as requested by you on FaceBook. Hope you like it!)
So there I am, lustfully staring at a window with Christian Louboutin shoes on display, standing there, thinking to myself ‘just one pair couldn’t hurt, could it?’ Boy was I wrong!
I had never owned a pair of designer shoes before and I had always been eyeing Christian Louboutin shoes in magazines, on celebrities, on online stores like Net-A-Porter and dribbling over the gorgeous pairs that the wonderful ladies of The Purse Forum were able to own. It was love at first sight when I saw how skillful a designer he was, making the heels so sexy and so feminine yet so bold and striking, the perfect shoe any woman could want!
It all started when I went to London for my birthday last year, I was browsing around Harvey Nichols and I kept passing the Louboutin boutique window, as you do of course, being a woman with a shoe obsession… My boyfriend said to me ‘why don’t you just go and try a pair on? You will regret it if you leave without doing it!” I didn’t need anymore pushing than that. I went in and tried on a pair from the display case immediately and oh my gosh! My foot had literally found heaven in a shoe! It was so soft and so comfortable, I didn’t want to take it off! I then popped into Harrods and after shamefully getting lost in there a few times (I’m sure we all have, that place is like a maze) found the Louboutin boutique and tried on some more of his shoes. They made me feel so tall and so confident. It was love, a love so strong and so powerful, but I didn’t know just how powerful a love it was…
Later that night when I got home, I was searching for the perfect pair. I ended up buying a pair of Rolande Boucle which were much too high for me but I loved them anyway! I remember sharing them in a fun reveal thread on the forum and how excited it made me feel. My heart was fluttering like a new born butterfly. The other ladies with their Louboutin obsessions loved them too and we shared photos of all of our shoes. Then came another pair that I just had to have! A pair of red lower heeled mary janes. I had never seen such beauty in a shoe! The way the colour was so sparkly and radiant… Then came my next pair, and another pair and another… I couldn’t control this habit and my savings account certainly wasn’t thanking me for it at all! Now a year down the line… I am on *coughs* my 14th pair!! My latest pair being a Declic 120 in amazing Fuchsia metallic square suede which I had on pre-order without even seeing the shoe, I just knew I would adore it! I am so in love with them but they can be so painful. My love for his shoes definitely overrides the pain of the sky scraper heels! You have to suffer to wear such beauty sometimes.
So here I am, very poor with a bunch of shoes that over take my whole room. You can imagine the old lady who lived in a shoe, well I’m the young lady who lives with her shoes. It’s incredible when I think about it, how out of hand my obsession became, I can easily say it might have been an addiction! It’s not just Louboutins that my heart skips an enormous beat for now! I’ve moved onto to other brands like Miu Miu, Lanvin, Elizabeth & James… I have this uncontrollable urge, much like a very hungry kid in a huge candy store. I just have to have them!
Now I find myself thinking, as I am browsing over the boutiques online, do I honestly, really need another pair of shoes? My answer to this is… yes, I certainly do! The reason being, I can blame my boyfriend for it all, haha, he told me to try on that very first pair and look what happened! So in my eyes, he is accountable for this shoe addiction of mine! Therefore, it’s acceptable for me to buy more, isn’t it? Well… as long as my bank balance approves! Haha!

Thanks Sarah, Sabrina, Lucia and Davis. I think someone else with a better story made the published article 🙂 And just to clarify, as a couple have asked on Twitter, I’m not really rich lol I got most of my Louboutins in the sale or on eBay (authentic pairs) so I only ever paid retail for two pairs. They are a lot more affordable when they are heavily discounted 😀 It would be amazing though to be like Blake Lively and just buy 20+ pairs in a store in one go!
Love it lorna, you are so amazing, not sure why this didn’t make it in the mag, but that stinks!! muah!
