Thinking Of Changing My Hairstyle

lorna-burford-blonde-ombre-hair

My hair has always pretty much been my trademark. When I was younger, maybe about 7 or 8, it used to be really long, all the way down to my bum, but at that age it was quite unmanageable so I had it cut to chin length. As it’s always been really thick, it used to stick out like a triangle on my head though! When I got a bit older, around 12 years old, I know I have said before that I had it cut to boy short length. It was about an inch long at the back and a bit longer on top. Ever since then, when I left my tomboy phase, I have been growing it out and I never want short hair again.

I dyed my hair myself with a DIY ombre kit last year and it’s faded quite a lot over that time though. I don’t think I have had my hair cut for months, I believe the last time I had it cut was a couple of days before I went to Italy back in June! It’s been 5 months and in that time it’s grown so long and my fringe/bangs have pretty much grown out completely. Always around this time of year, in the Autumn, I get really fed up and bored of my hairstyle and fancy a change. Last time I opted to have a full fringe cut in, like Taylor Swift, but I ended up hating it and I wont be doing that again. At the moment, due to the length and age of my hair, it’s in pretty bad condition on the ends. It’s quite split and dry and looking a bit coarse. It’s not silky anymore! I have masses of it too since it hasn’t been thinned out in ages.

So, to cut this long story short, I’m a bit bored at the moment of my hair and I want to try something new. I’m thinking of chopping a good bit off of the length, maybe 3-4 inches, but I’m so scared! It’s always been my thing to have long hair and I’ve always loved having longer hair too, it’s just really hard to look after. I’m also wanting more of a fringe put back in, but a side sweeping one as I think those frame my face a bit better. I was looking around on Bangstyle, which is a new community/app online for hair inspiration and wondering what new styles I could try. The website/app is great as you can share your photos with everyone else and get a lot of inspiration. I went with 4 celebrity photos for my inspiration though, Cameron Diaz, Ashlee Simpson, Demi Lovato and Reese Witherspoon. I think all 4 of these ladies have amazing hair in these photos! Which one do you like the most and which do you think I should go with? I’m going to be keeping my hair its natural colour though, but I am thinking of possibly getting some blonde highlights to lighten it up for Winter at some point! Comment and let me know what you think! I also did an interview with Bangstyle, which you can read here.

You have such gorgeous hair, I’m sure it’ll look great no matter what you do with it. But I’m really liking the idea of the Cameron Diaz cut! I feel like it’d be so chic, and it’ll feel so much lighter!

I’m so frightened to go that short though, it would be like half my hair was missing! Ha ha!

That’s why I’m worried, I guess I will need to do what’s necessary and see how it goes 🙂

I think the side swept bangs and layers like cameron diaz would look great on you. And you don’t have to go that short if you don’t want to. Just add some layers and the fringe and have the length trimmed.

i know exactly how you feel. I’ve struggled with this all my life. I did shoulder length once and it drove me crazy, lol. I know how scary it can be, but I think you’ll look fabulous at any length. If you get a sec, I’d love if you’d check out my latest outfit courtesy of Lauren Conrad. 🙂 xo

I really like you hair the way it is now. I understand that you’re kind of tired of your hair right now but I think that you might regret is when you cut it! But it’s your choice so you have to do whatever you want 🙂 If I had to choose a hairstyle for you, I might pick the style of Cameron Diaz!

I definitely wont be cutting it super short, I’m thinking a few inches more or less to tidy it up 🙂 I would definitely regret it if I cut it short, you are right.

I think the Cameron style is definitely the most flattering and it also looks the simplest to grow longer if you decide you want length again. Can’t wait to see!

Ok! That’s another vote for Cameron!

I go through the same routine of growing my hair out and then getting the itch to do something crazy with it when I’m in a funk. :-/ I used to have that Victoria Beckham reverse bob and it was so easy to take care of. Once I get what I paid for out of my recent ombre, I’m choppin’ it off short and NEVER growing it out again.

I can see you with a longer version of Julianne Hough’s bob or even something Zoe Deschanel-ish with side swept bangs. 🙂 You do have some seriously thick hair, girl!!

It’s super thick! One of my ponytails is like 3 normal ones, ha ha. It’s always been thick 🙂

I have always loved Reese’s hair, but I think Cameron’s would look best on you!
