Quite a few of you have been requesting a health update from me, mostly explaining what I went through as a teenager and how my health and illness shaped my life, leading me to do what I’m doing today. While I will write that for you at some point over the next few months (it’s going to take a while to put together), I wanted to give you a current update on my health at the moment just in case I’m not able to make posts as frequently as I should or in case I start looking really rough around the edges. These photos aren’t a representation of how I look right now by any means, but my current state is not something I’m going to share with you all, ha ha. So these ones are much more fitting.
So, onto what I was going to say. I had been feeling extremely unwell for the past month, with stomach aches, bloating, nausea and pains in my digestive system, causing lots of trapped gas too which has been absolute agony. Truthfully, I’ve never felt pain like that before and there were a few times where I thought I was actually going to pass out and have to go to hospital. It’s been on and off for the past year I would say, coming and going in waves, but the past couple of weeks have been the worst. I know it’s not nice to hear, but I started bringing up vomit in my mouth and the pain from the acid there was excruciating in my throat and in my stomach as I have so much excess acid. The only way I can describe it is like having a witches cauldron in my stomach, bubbling and brewing.
I went to the doctors on Thursday last week finally, and after examining me and asking lots of questions, she diagnosed me with gastritis, which is actually what I thought I had since I’m very much into the medical area and an overseas friend told me her symptoms of it too. I’ve taken a test as well for the , p bacteria which might be causing it, so I’m waiting on results from that to see if I’m going to need a three week course of anti biotics or not, but currently I’m on Omeprazole to try and lessen the acid in my stomach and get it to a normal level. These tablets actually keep giving me migraines so I’ve been trying to take it easy lately, but the most horrible thing about all of this is my energy levels and the constant burping. Anything I eat will cause me to burp about 20 times and that’s not lady like at all! I’m on an even more restricted diet now and have to be extremely careful about what I’m eating because of the pain it causes me.
It’s been truly difficult lately and I’ve been feeling so exhausted from the lack of food and fighting the pain. It’s so uncomfortable having a distended and bloated stomach too, it feels like it’s got an inflated balloon inside it, sticking right out between my rib cage. It means I haven’t been able to exercises properly in months and that’s taken it’s toll on my joints too since I need to exercise for medical reasons, plus I know I have gained some weight. This coupled with an extreme amount of stress I have been under over the past couple of months too has led to a concoction of yuck for me. I didn’t say before as I like to try and keep my blog a happy and positive place, just as you like it, but health wise and mentally I’m struggling very much at the moment and I thought it was only fair to you to explain the situation in case I’m not well enough to carry on my schedule that I usually stick to of 4-5 posts a week and constant social media updates. I’d rather you were in the know than in the dark and worrying that I was giving up or something.
I truly hope that I start to feel better soon and I am kind of hoping that the Helicobacter Pylori test comes back positive actually as that will be easier to fix with medication and make everything go away. It’s not nice to have but I would rather have that than an underlying cause of a stomach ulcer or something a lot more serious. So fingers crossed that this is easy to get rid of. Some days are much better than others and the tablets are improving my pains in my stomach too, but other days I can have a complete set back and be doubled over for most of the day. I just truly hope this can be sorted soon and I thank you so much for all of your continued support and blogging encouragement. Lorna xx.

Thank you Carmen!
Omg Lorna I feel so sorry about your sickness. I hope you get well soon. I know how you feel. I had similar health problems. In my case the gluten was causing the stomachache and bloating… Wish you all the best sweetie.

I hope that you begin to feel considerably and consistently better soon, Lorna. I can’t pretend to know what that level of physical discomfort and stress combined feels like but I admire how you’re handling the situation. It’s very considerate of you to explain all of this to us and I’m sure this wasn’t an easy post for you to write.
It’s true that we all enjoy your blog as a happy and positive place – but I think it’s even more true that most of also like and respect you and understand that not every day in life is or can be positive. 🙂 So I’m sure we’ll all still be here if your schedule lapses and we’ll also still be here if not every post is a happy one. Just look after yourself and get well. I’ll send some positive thoughts off in a south-westerly direction. 🙂

You’re very welcome indeed. 🙂
On a more upbeat note, and speaking of social media – now that I have my new tablet (minus the stylus which I’ve managed to lose already…) I’ve got around to joining instagram and I’ve now seen some of your recent pics. 🙂 I’m posting as crinoth there, btw.

I’m *very* sorry to hear this. I had a big helicobacter pylori thing in my stomach a few years ago. anti-biotics cleared it – though they were not nice to take (this type make you feel a bit sick, which was a problem already)
It’s usually a relief to get a diagnosis – I hope you get things sorted ASAP
very best wishes
Author
Oh really? That’s what I was worried about. Anti biotics usually make me feel sick anyway so that’s not good. I hope it will be ok!
I really do feel for you right now. I hope they can get a diagnosis for you, so you can get treated and feel much better and soon! Stay positive Lorna and just keep up the rest, even if it is boring at times. 🙂
Best wishes lovely,
Daniella xx

Gosh, this sounds really rough. I hope you’re holding up and I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for better results. Oh and ps- really “nice post” and “love it”, the first two comments? Good lord…. As if they couldn’t make it any more obvious they didn’t read a word of what you have said. Either way, stay strong and I’m sending you all the positive vibes in the world! <3
