Cherry Picking In The Summer

Cherry picking in the summertime

I thought this would be a different post to include on my fashion blog, more of a lifestyle type of post for a change. When Adam and I were shooting some photos a couple of weekends ago in the fields, we came across a cherry tree that we never knew was even there. I think the cherries only appear on it for a few weeks of the year, so it’s no wonder we hadn’t spotted them before when we were there.

Cherries are one of my favourite fruits, I can literally eat them by the bucket load if I wanted to, so picking them naturally and actually eating cherries directly from the tree is as organic as it comes and much less expensive! We washed them before eating them and made sure to only pick the ripe ones which didn’t look damaged in any way too. We ended up with loads of cherries to eat and shared them around with family.

I love trying to eat as healthy as I possibly can and picking fruit is as good as it gets. With that in mind though I have always wanted my own vegetable patch so I could grow and eat my own carrots, potatoes and other vegetables etc and enjoy them completely organic and fresh. Do any of you grow your own fruits or vegetables?

It actually takes me back to being a child when I picked an apple from a tree on a country walk with my dad. That apple was literally the most delicious apple I had ever eaten and still is to date. It had a sweetness to it that was mixed with elements of sour, it was perfect! If I only had a fruit tree in the garden! I hope you like my cherry picking photos and if you see a cherry tree yourself, it’s definitely worth it as long as they are healthy cherries, so pick wisely!

For those of you who are also interested in my outfit that I have on here, I was wearing a green plaid boyfriend shirt from GAP and my Levi’s vintage denim shorts. You can shop similar shirts here and here and pick up my shorts here.

I have never picked cherries… I would love to eat them right off the tree. I’d also love to have my own garden…I could imagine how fresh everything would taste. The pictures look great Lorna xox ♡

I went cherry picking a few weeks ago and it was so much fun! I recently got the chance to go raspberry picking too this weekend.

Hello cherry tree! Your luck has just run out… 😉 lol

What a great discovery! I don’t think I’ve ever been cherry picking. They’re not as high on my list of favourite fruits as they are on yours – but I do like them and those look like really good ones. It’s more grapes that I can’t resist. 😀

My dad grows all his own vegetables and a lot of his own fruit too (but not cherries). I rarely leave my parents’ house empty handed – they usually give me something from their garden or something that they’ve made from something from the garden. Last time it was homemade raspberry jam and the time before a homegrown cucumber. 🙂 Totally different to the cucumbers in the shops too. 🙂

The shirt that you’re wearing is my favourite of all the tops I’ve seen in your photos so far. Absolutely love it 😀

That sounds amazing, Steven! You are very lucky to have home grown things like that! Any going spare I shall pop by! Ha ha 😀 I thought you would like the top though since it’s green, I knew as much!

Love this, Lorna! I’ve thought of doing general lifestyle posts like this when I’m having spouts of writer’s block…the summer is definitely a great time for it! I wish we had wild cherries growing around here! I love cherries too, but I can’t say I’ve ever tried wild ones! There are plenty of farms that offer people to come pick for a few hours though, always a good time 🙂

You should! I think sometimes it’s a nice break from the usual posts people come to expect. I think I’m going to have to look up places you can pick your own fruit 😀

Great post. It must be wonderful to eat fresh off the tree cherries. YUM YUM! I’m so jealous. Even the thought of growing your own organic veggies is appealing. Fresh produce is always the better than store bought. Not to mention having your own garden reminds me of simpler times. Several generations ago that’s how people lived, or should I say that’s how they survived.

    Great pictures, thanks for sharing.
