Mustard, Orange, Brown & Beige with a pop of Burgundy
The title of this post is something I have been pondering for a while now! I can’t honestly believe how warm it’s been for the Christmas season. It’s averaging around 10-14 Celsius or so here and that’s crazy considering it’s usually in the minus temperatures. It’s been quite confusing and hard work with my outfits though as the Winter ones I had planned haven’t worked out since it’s too warm, so I’m finding myself reverting back to some Autumn ones, namely this one.
Given the colour palette of the brown, orange, mustard and beige, it really should work with a backdrop of Autumn trees, however I’m standing next to a Christmas tree and I actually think I like the contrast of the warm tones in my outfit against the green and blue in the background more than I would if it was richer shades. I’ve got almost all the colours of the rainbow going on here and it’s quite fun!
So, what was I wearing? I wore my old Rich & Skinny Mustard Skinny Jeans (similar) which I tucked into my Ted & Muffy Nightingale Boots in Cocoa. I thought this combination was quite contrasting and different. I then chose my Topshop Orange Roll Neck Jumper and layered my Zara Beige Coat (similar) over the top for a little bit of warmth. Finally, I decided that I needed a little more colour so that it wasn’t too 70’s and opted for my Chanel Small Boy Bag in Bordeaux Velvet to brighten it up a bit! I really quite like how it came out. What do you think?
What I Was Wearing:
Coat – Zara (similar)
Jeans – Rich & Skinny (similar)
Top – Topshop
Boots – Ted & Muffy ON SALE
Bag – Chanel

Oh yes, the weather in crazy. One day last week the seasonal outdoor ice rink here in Lincoln had to be closed because the warm weather was melting the ice.
The mustard jeans are my favourite element of the outfit and overall I think it’s a very seasonal and festive look. The colours in your outfit are all flame/fire colours (including your bag, really) and I quite strongly associate these with Christmas. My parents had candles burning on the dining table and a real open fire in the hearth over Christmas. These colours all appeared in the dancing flames. 🙂 We always had fires in winter when I was a child too which is, no doubt, why I get such a nostalgic feeling from them and from your outfit here.
I know that everyone automatically thinks red/white/green for Christmas but other colours have a strong claim to be Christmassy too.
I especially love the first shot where you’re the strong glowing flame burning proudly against the smaller lights of the Christmas tree. 🙂

That’s true actually, I suppose it could be deemed quite Christmasy if you look at it in that respect! I’m really glad you like it! It’s crazy to think this is my last outfit of 2015! Everything going forward will be 2016 outfits! So crazy!
In that case it’s great to exit the year in a blaze of glory. 😀 I’ll look forward to seeing what you come up with first for 2016. 🙂
Have you seen my new Doctor Who t-shirt, by the way? 🙂

Oh wow you had snow! That’s amazing!
I love this outfit on you Lorna, and the combination of different colours and textures. You’ve accessorised the look beautifully too, with the chic boots and gorgeous little handbag. You’re absolutely right about the weather. Apart from rainy weather and occasional windy days, it’s been strangely mild in London!
It’s always a joy to visit your blog.
