My Top 5 Exotic Countries To Visit
You might remember my previous post on 5 European countries I would like to visit, but I thought it would be good to be a bit more extravagant in my choosing and also share with you my top 5 exotic places to go to, if I could. I absolutely love the idea of clear green and turquoise waters, white sandy beaches with little huts and a warm, relaxing holiday. I’m not sure I will ever get there given the fact that I don’t do flying, but I was thinking of perhaps some cruise holidays in the future. I know I get sea sick, but I’m thinking on a massive cruise boat, it might not be so bad as it shouldn’t be too rocky. I can see myself now, cruising around the islands, looking out for the dolphins below, just having a whale of a time! Pun intended! I’m sure it would be amazing. Do any of you have experience with a cruise? Below are my top 5 holiday destinations for somewhere exotic!
Bora Bora Island
Ever since I watched Couples Retreat a few times, I absolutely fell in love with Bora Bora. Those little huts out over the ocean, the amazing jade colour water and the beautiful marine life swimming below… what is better than that? I know some of the huts even have glass floors so you can see the fish below you. It just sounds amazing. A perfect tropical island for exploring, relaxing and enjoying life.
Whitehaven Beach, Australia
Whitehaven Beach in Australia has always been a place that took my fancy due to the really cool patterns in the sand. The way the water flows from one end to the other creates such a cool rippled effect, I’ve not seen anything like it before. Not only is it lovely and hot in Australia, but the views, the animals… Oh my gosh, Koala bears! It’s definitely high up on my list if I ever got the chance to go there! The photos just speak volumes enough as it is.
Swim With Dolphins In Hawaii
Everyone adores the Hawaii islands and so many go there as a holiday destination. One of my absolute must do things in the future is swim with dolphins! I know this is easily done in Hawaii as so many get the chance to do it and it’s definitely a dream of mine. Dolphins are so intelligent and intuitive, it would be incredible to have an experience with them. Of course Hawaii is a gorgeous place too, the turquoise waters and the hammock on the beaches, coupled with the laid back lifestyle. Bliss.
Seychelles Island
The Seychelles! How could this island not make my list? When I was little, I saw the Seychelles on the TV once and thought it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. I didn’t understand how part of the world could look like a complete paradise and England was the complete opposite. One thing I would love to do there is explore through all of the forests on the beaches. The amount of exotic animals I would see and the different bird sounds I would hear, it would really be a trip of a life time.
Londolozi Private Game Reserve, South Africa
Finally, as these are in no particular order, I chose a game reserve in South Africa. This one is probably more possible for me since Africa as a continent is right next door to Europe, but as I love animals, staying on a lodge in the middle of the wilderness with elephants, zebras, giraffes and more gorgeous animals surrounding me would be a dream come true. I can just imagine sitting there, watching them go about their business as the hours go by. That’s something I wouldn’t want to end.
– Is there anywhere exotic you would love to go? What do you think of my list?

Thanks!
Bora Bora and Seychelles are definitely also on my list! South Africa as well but not the Reserve! I’ve been in Hawaii and it is beautiful. On the west coast you can swim with dolphins if you wake up early. But I wouldn’t do dolphin swimming in a caged pool or caged part of the ocean! It’s not much fun. I did it in Mexico and it was super expensive and in the end I just felt sorry for the dolphins!
Kind regards,

Poor dolphins, I’d definitely want to do it in their wild habitat 🙂 It sounds amazing though!
Love all these exotic locales! This cold weather I’m in makes me want to jump on plane asap to all your picks. 🙂

Thank you!
When my grandma was alive and still in reasonable health she and my grandad went on quite a few cruise holidays (not hugely long distances though – southern Europe, north Africa mostly, I think). I know they enjoyed them very much. 🙂 My grandad still talks in glowing terms about those holidays. I remember one conversation with him when he suggested it might be something I’d enjoy.
Grandad: I think you’d enjoy a cruise, Steven
Me: Oh no, I get seasick.
Grandad: You wouldn’t on a cruise ship. I’ve never seen anyone being sick on a cruise.
Me: That might be because people who suffer from seasickness don’t go on cruises.
I’ve no idea whether he’s right or whether I’m right. I don’t think I’d want to risk testing it though… 😀
Your choices are very interesting. They’re, largely, not places I’d choose myself due to my unfortunate aversion to extreme heat (it effectively shuts my body down) – but they do all look so beautiful and tranquil and make me wish I could handle heat. The game reserve looks the most visually appealing. 🙂

That’s a funny conversation! That made me laugh! I think that might be true, but then I’m not sure I guess it depends on the water and the size of the boat? I’m frightened to test it out too lol! It’s a shame you can’t tolerate the heat though!
Yes, it’s unfortunate. Anything above 80F and I’m uncomfortable. When it gets to about 90F I can’t even eat. The good thing is that here in the UK it’s not too often an issue. 😉 But the times I’ve been on foreign holidays in my adult life have all been in spring or autumn because they have to be, really. 🙂

It’s a good job you can go to these places when it’s cooler there then! I can’t imagine how uncomfortable that must feel for you! Maybe you should go to Alaska lol!
Oh, Alaska looks so pretty. 🙂 I think it would certainly be on my list if I were to make one.

We could get a TARDIS and try that way 😀
Good plan – not sure where to find one. I saw a Dalek today but that’s not much help. 😉
Author
Lol, yeah not much help. Where’d you see one?
The Dalek was in the local branch of Waterstones. They’ve had it even since before the series returned to TV. I took a photo of it (as I usually do) and I’ll pop it up on Instagram sometime in the next day or two. 🙂 It’s moved about between the two Lincoln branches of the store over the years and at the moment it’s lurking in the fantasy/sci-fi section. 😀

Oh cool! I will definitely keep my eyes open for it!
Nice post! I actually really enjoy cruising, it is such a great form of travel where you can see many places AND unpack your bags. If you’re worried about being seasick I’d recommend getting a room on one of the lower levels of the ship. There isn’t so much motion there. I went on a really amazing cruise up to Alaska one summer and loved it- lots of cool excursions to go on, beautiful scenery, great nightly entertainment, and I left with a sun tan. Not necessarily a person’s idea of an “exotic” get away but it warms up in July much more than a person could ever imagine. Next up on my cruising bucket list? The mediterranean!
Author
Oh that’s really helpful about getting a lower room, thank you! Is there a lot of motion on one then on the top deck? Alaska sounds incredible though, that would be such an amazing place to go!
Yup! The lower you are on a cruise ship the less motion you feel. I recommend going on a larger ship as well as they are more stable at sea. I don’t think that the water would be too choppy at some of those destinations. Most of the time you can’t tell you are on a ship unless you are up on deck or looking out the window. Oh! And another more stable feeling area is the back of the ship too but generally those rooms are a bit more expensive. Alaska is definitely underrated and totally beautiful, a different type of cruise that so many people overlook!

Oh wow! That does sound incredible! You are very lucky!
Bora Bora and Seychelles were on my travel wish list already. I had not heard of Whitehaven Beach but it looks absolutely stunning and the way the water ripples is really cool.

That’s what made me fall in love with it! It’s amazing!
These are absolutely gorgeous destinations and would definitely be nice to visit. I hope you get to tick all of these off your bucket list, girlie. We are actually thinking of going to Hawaii this year but not sure yet.
On our honeymoon two of my major dreams came true: swimming with dolphins was one of them. It is such a magical experience. You just never want to get out of the water 🙂

Wouldn’t it be amazing to swim with them?! I’d love it!
I’d love to go visit Whitehaven beach! Despite having family up north, I’ve never gone more than a few hours north of Brisbane. One day I would love to go, and see the reef and everything, tour around a little bit 🙂
I’ve done the swimming with dolphins though, we did it at Seaworld here on the gold coast and it was magical. One of the dolphins was pregnant and we all got to rub her belly. It was really cool getting to ‘cuddle’ one of their orphaned dolphins too. All their dolphins are rescues that couldn’t go back to the ocean for whatever reason, so it’s a wonderful experience seeing how clever and quick they are to learn that we are safe to play and interact with, and show us off some tricks.

That does sound truly amazing 🙂 Like a completely magical experience. I’m glad they have a happy and safe place to be.
I watched Couples Retreat too 😀 Bora Bora has been on my bucket list since then as well 🙂

It’s definitely amazing there it seems!
I’m convinced all these 5 places are beautiful and I understand you want to visit them! Personally I visited none of those places so far … what seems to be a pity. To my personal places I would love to visit are belonging Canada, Alasca, Siberia and Tibet 🙂
