Health Update

rain-on-window

It’s been a little while since I updated you all about my health, and I had this post scheduled in for Sunday but unfortunately haven’t been able to do any work. I caught the flu on Friday night and have been suffering badly with it since. The usual shivers, sweats, temperature, sickness, body aches, cough… But it’s developed into a viral tonsillitis too and I lost my voice a couple of days ago and have the most sore throat, which is made worse with my cough. My voice has come back a little bit, but all it is is croakiness unfortunately and it’s really bad. I’ve just been in bed for days now, trying to rest and get better. I’ve been extremely off my food too so haven’t been eating much at all, but have been drinking lots of warm water and honey, taking my cold and flu tablets and trying to eat protein, fruits and vegetables, but it’s very tough.

This is the worst I have felt in a very long time, so much so that it’s impacted my work. Adam and I had a weekend planned of a trip, outfit shoots and product shoots, but unfortunately it had to be cancelled and we both had to stay in. I actually ended up catching the flu from him, so we have both had a terrible weekend. He’s a lot better now though, but as with every illness I get, its length and intensity is always made worse because of having M.E. as my body isn’t strong enough to deal with it properly. I can only hope that the flu is nearing its end and my throat will stop feeling like razor blades and glass soon.

Last month (January) I also ended up with a kidney infection which was horrible, I was sick, sweating, having a bad stomach, bladder pains, back ache and everything else, but the antibiotics made me feel just as sick too. I’m starting to get a bit fed up now because since November when I had the pneumonia, I’ve been on and off with sickness and viruses since and we have now just hit March. That’s almost 5 months of intermittent illness and it’s starting to really drain me. I make progress a few steps and then just get knocked back down really badly.

I’ve started taking Vitamin B12 supplements since I figured out I’m deficient, alongside my usual Vitamin C to help with some of my problems, which I admit has helped a lot and made me feel a lot better in terms of the deficiency symptoms I was having, but I know it obviously can’t protect me from the viruses that are everywhere right now, especially when they come from foreign countries and our bodies are not able to fight them off as well, which is what I feel like is happening now. I even started eating a clean and processed food free diet many weeks ago (not that my diet was horrendous before), so only normal, untouched foods are what I eat with simple, barely any there ingredients, but again, it’s been really difficult when I’m so sick all the time.

I wanted to update you on the situation since I had been away from the blog and social media for so long and I was getting questions about where I was and if I was ignoring people or giving up, so hopefully this clears things up for you. I don’t have any new photos and wont have for about 2 weeks, but I do have a couple of outfits in storage and will post one this week and one next week for you. In the mean time, I’ve included a few Instagram photos from over the past few weeks to try and give a little positivity to this health update post. I hope all of you are keeping well and please do try and avoid the germs! Hopefully I will be able to post more to my Instagram and Snapchat (@LornaRaindrops) very soon, so make sure you follow me. Lorna xx.

I’m sorry that you’re having such a tough run of health issues lately. I hope that you start to feel much better soon – it sounds as though you are making some progress at least. Hopefully the arrival of spring, and some better weather, will be of benefit too in the coming weeks. 🙂 I think I’m starting to see signs that it’s coming.

I’ll be sending some positive thoughts and my best wishes in your direction – and for Adam too. 🙂

I seem to be more or less avoiding the germs myself at the moment – which is good, especially as I have this week off work.

Anyway, take care and get well soon. 🙂

Thank you so much, Steven 🙂 That’s really kind of you. I did feel better when I wrote it, but took a turn again and yesterday spent almost all day in bed, napping. The swelling and exhaustion was the worst thing, but I’m glad to be feeling a lot better today finally.

Dearest Lorna, I was worried that you might be ill… you have had such a rough go of it lately. I hope this is the last of it for a little while, your body needs a bit of a break, no to mention your spirit… it can be so difficult to keep positive when it seems you get sick so often… Take care of yourself and get lots of rest xox

Thank you Launna, I truly hope that it’s the last of it too, I can’t take anymore of it, that’s for sure xx.

Lorna I’m so sorry to hear of all the health problems you’ve been having, so soon after the recent bouts of illness you’ve had. It must be tough, and you’re very courageous to deal with things the way you do. I sincerely hope you get better soon, and stay well so you can return to your normal activities.

    Saba xx

I hope you feel better soon.
It’s definitely a phase of the year where in our immune system gets weak due to change of weather.

I don’t really think it’s great, maybe it didn’t translate well into the correct language, but it’s definitely not great 🙁

I can relate to your symptoms because I am experiencing similar ones right now after a severe cold or flu I caught about a month ago. I have been unable to move for several days straight. Liquid meals have replaced solid food. Every time I encounter a new health setback, my overall health degrades to a new low.

Those are nice photos; lots of bold colours and well-composed.

I hope you can take it easy. Hopefully that will help you recover.

Your website is very inspiring. It has given me the will to pursue my dreams within my abilities.

    Take very good care,

    A fellow M.E. sufferer

      Hi Daisuke,
So sorry you are suffering right now too. M.E is horrible to go through as we both know and it’s even worse to have it when you pick up germs in general. Not many people seem to realise how much it wipes us out and sets us back months of progress, but hopefully more will understand with more exposure of the illness. I wish there was some type of thing we could use to avoid any germs at all. It would be so much easier that way wouldn’t it? I hope you start picking up a bit soon and feeling a bit better xx.
