My Valentino Rockstud City Sandals in Tobacco

I am literally so EXCITED to share my new shoes with you! You have already seen them on Instagram and Snapchat as I always give you guys a sneak preview of everything before it goes live here, but here are the proper photos and review for you. These are my new Valentino Rockstud City Sandals in Tobacco that I got a couple of weeks ago from My Theresa. I had been saving up for a new pair of Summer shoes and these were just perfect in every way!

I don’t have any designer sandals, so these definitely fill that void and I couldn’t be happier about it. When I first saw them on My Theresa, I did look around on Google for more photos and saw these ones here for better reference which sold it for me. I knew I wanted them. I already have my Valentino Rockstud Heels in Patent Red and Black which I got last year, but these are entirely different so I don’t feel like I have doubled up at all. So, lets get to my review shall we?

Fit – I wasn’t sure which size to go for with these Valentino Rockstud City Sandals as I’m a 40 in the heels in patent leather, but I know with sandals you always need to size down if there’s an open back and an open toe. I ordered both the 39.5 and the 39 on my credit card and I kept the 39. The 39.5 did fit me, but there was too much gapping at the toe area and the straps weren’t as tight, so they were definitely too big. I recommend you size down if you are buying these as they need to fit securely and will probably stretch a bit from the heat during the hot months.

Comfort – When it comes to designer shoes, nearly all of mine (except my Giuseppe Zanotti flats) are heels and I don’t find them comfortable enough to walk around in all day, which is why I wanted something with a lower heel. These do come with a much higher heel as well, but I chose the low one because I want to be able to wear these around a lot during the warm weather with my dresses and denim skirts. I’ve worn them once already and they were so comfortable. The heel is only 2.5 inches so for me that’s low and comfortable compared to what I’m used to, plus it’s a thick block heel so it offers a lot of stability and spreads the pressure of the foot when walking. Perfect!

Design – As I’m a huge fan of the Rockstud look anyway, when I was looking at the new Valentino Rockstud shoes collection and saw these, I thought the design was so cute. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, I know as my mum doesn’t like them, but I definitely do. I like the foot straps, the two secure ankle straps with buckles, the gold studs against the tobacco tan leather and how elegant they are. I never used to like low heels a lot as I found they didn’t elevate the legs enough to look feminine, but these somehow do. They still add a bit of length to my legs which is great and they look cute, chic and pretty. The brown tone complements my skin tone well and it’s so versatile, it will go with all the things I want to wear them with, even cropped jeans!

Overall Opinion – I can’t think of anything negative about these shoes at all, well maybe the price as £650 is a lot of money for what they are, but I love them so much. I was worried the strap for my toes would rub a little bit, but it hasn’t at all yet. They feel nice and secure on my feet, they don’t slip and they are really easy to walk in or run in if you needed to, so they are ideal for Summer days out as they don’t sink in grass either. I think I’ve finally found my perfect pair of sandals with these Valentino Rockstud City Sandals! They come in numerous other colours including pink, multi, blue, green, black etc and have different stud designs, but I liked the classic style the most. What do you think of them?

Thank you 😀 Yeah, they are pretty expensive! But I’m looking at it as sandals I can have for years and years, every Summer. I know they will get a lot of wear!

Lorna the sandals look so lovely on you… I am happy you were able to acquire them. I wish I could still wear heels but unfortunately my knees will not allow it any longer… only flats for me and they are not cute enough xox

I hope you get to wear and enjoy your shoes for many months to come xox

I like what I’m seeing so far and I’ll be looking forward to seeing how they look with an outfit. My immediate reaction is that they look much more formal than casual – but that’s just my perception from seeing them in isolation. Your comments on the low heels are interesting as, and I know I’ve said it before, I think that lower heels look best in most cases anyway – so that’s another point in their favour. 🙂

I do have one negative point though, which is nothing to do with the look, that I must mention. I just irks me a bit that the fashion industry would choose to market any product using the word tobacco as a colour. The colour is great – the name is very unfortunate in my opinion. 🙁 Maybe that’s just me?

I absolutely love the composition of the last photo! That’s such a beautiful shot. 😀

Yeah, I can see how they look more dressy too, I think they work for both occasions. I never really wear super casual/scruffy looking clothes that they wouldn’t match with though, so I think I’m good lol! My casual is usually still quite smart, ha ha. I agree with you on the name choice though, Tobacco is a bit unfortunate. Tods did the same thing as I have a pair of moccasins that are called Tobacco too, crazy. I would prefer something more like warm tan, or something fancy! 😀

Love these sandals! I think the low heel is really practical as you said, and I love the studs 🙂 You got them in a classic colour too, I can see you getting your moneys worth despite the high price as they will go with so many outfits! 🙂
