Keeping Fit During Winter

lorna-burford-workout-gym

As the winter is almost here, it can be really hard to find the enthusiasm to want to go out and workout. It’s usually absolutely freezing (over here anyway) and I know I would rather be curled up on the sofa in a blanket with a warm drink. I’ve found out though that even with my illness, I do need to workout in some way or another. When I am sedentary for a number of days and I’m not feeling too well, I end up feeling worse and my digestion becomes sluggish as well, so I need to do some level of activity when I can.

I’ve recently started learning Qi Gong which is a form of Thai Chi, so it’s incredibly gentle for me (please note I am learning, so my movements are not probably exactly how they should be). Even if I am not doing that though, I’m enjoying stretches and just general movements to keep my muscles active. For those of you who don’t have limitations health wise, I have the perfect solution for you though. As it’s too cold to be working out outside all the time, gyms are a great way to do it and if you’re often travelling around, sometimes that can be sacrificed. Not anymore though!

I recently found out about Pay As U Gym, which acts as a membership to any gym around you, so no matter what city you are in, you can find one of the gyms they partner with and use them without having to pay for an annual membership with a new gym each time. Your gym membership would be for all of the gyms in affiliation with Pay As U Gym, which I think is so useful. So many of us love to travel around and I know a lot of you fashion bloggers are all over the country for events, so keeping fit doesn’t have to be forgotten. Who doesn’t love a flexible gym membership?

For those of you interested in what I’m wearing here though for my outfit, the leggings are the Freddy WR.UP Sports Leggings which I love. These have support and stitching around the bottom and hips to be flattering and to lift as well, so they look good as well as perform good (you can read a review of the Freddy WR.UP Leggings I wrote). I got this pair from Cuba Clothing and paired them with a Topshop Jumper, my Adidas Gisele Shoes and a hat as it’s cold. I’ve seen a lot of gym girls wearing these leggings so I know they work really well in the gym as well, for those of you who frequent the gyms. So what do you think about Pay As U Gym? Do you think it’s a concept you could see yourself using?

Pay as U Gym seems to be so good and Qi Gong too, I am sure you performed the movements in the right way! I know I have to exercise, my 2 brothers are athletes who have a gym centre each, at their homes, and I feel sooo weak to exercise – the lack of vitamins… but I need to, they told me that when I start I will feel much more energetic. You look lovely as usual, I loved your gum outfit!

Yeah, I know how you feel. I’m often too weak and tired to do it, but the Qi Gong slow movements are very helpful as it’s so gentle, so maybe something like that might help you?

Your beautiful arse doesn’t need jeggins to shine in all it’s splendour…
In any case it’s a lovely outfit, Lorna. I’d turn my head to look at you! 😉

Thanks, Michael! These ones are actually leggings, jeggings are jeans crossed with leggings 🙂 Just in case you ever need that info, ha ha.

Ok, thanks… but then what’s the difference between these leggins with criss-cross patterns (as if they’d better highlight the buttocks) and the ones with no patterns (the old style)…?

No difference with name, these just have performance enhancing seaming and details to sculpt the assets. Just their design as their sports leggings, not exactly plain fashion leggings. Does that help?

Amazing sport outfit! I usually do my workouts at home, so I don’t have to think about weather. But even so, winter makes me more lazy because of the cold. So I have to focus and stay motivated. Great post! Have a nice day!

I love to train but, the cold weather isn’t permitting me. I told myself I wasn’t gonna sign on a gym again, but looks like I have to because I hate jogging in the cold weather. Ha!

Cute workout outfit! I don’t have to worry too much about exercising in the winter. I’m lucky enough to have some fitness machines in my basement. I just go down there to work out, like I always do.

This is a great idea Lorna! I agree, some form of physical activity daily is a must, even when there are limitations to overcome. I walk long distances nearly every day, and lately it’s been so cold I’ve been resorting to walking around fast in the supermarket for at least forty minutes! It’s much nicer pacing inside, but makes me look like a nutter!

I would be open to this sort of gym membership. It’s great that you’ve taken up Qi Gong. Do you attend a class to learn the techniques? Keep up the good work!

    Lots of love Saba xx

So glad you think so too! Walking around the supermarket fast did make me laugh though, ha ha.

I’ve learned Qi Gong actually from Katie, the lady who I was learning the Hayo’u Method from, she’s been teaching me!

      • November 11, 2016 / 5:51 pm

Wow that’s great! I never realised she taught Qi Gong as well. I’m glad to hear the various movements have been helpful to include in your exercise routine.

Ha ha! I’m pretty sure the staff at my local supermarket think I’m bonkers, but I always spend my money after the crazy compulsive walking, so they can’t really object can they?!

        xx

She doesn’t teach it to people as a profession, just was letting me know about who she learns it from and how she does it, which has been very helpful 🙂

Ha ha, yeah they can’t complain if it brings them money 🙂

I’m not a gym person at all – it just doesn’t hold any appeal to me. I prefer to get my exercise for free by going on long brisk walks in the countryside and around town. 🙂 However, I can see how the Pay As You Gym concept would be of value for those who like their exercise to be more “formal” (for want of a better word) than I do. 🙂

I love your hat in these photos, Lorna. I want to reach into the pictures and steal it for myself!!! 😀

Thank you, Steven 😀 So happy you love the hat! I understand about you not being a gym person, some of us are just meant for the outdoors and not inside, I totally get that!

      • November 13, 2016 / 10:35 pm

That – plus a gym would just make me feel too self conscious. 🙂
