Rainy Days In Bright Coral Wellies

Hunter Bright Coral Wellies & Umbrella Outfit

As you know, it rains on a weekly basis here in England, so I have a love of wellies (rain boots). Most of you know that I have about 10 pairs in different styles and colours, and that’s purely because I end up wearing them regularly due to the rain, and I need different pairs for different outfits, just like us girls do with regular shoes. So, with that being said, I am excited to introduce to you my brand new pair of Hunter Wellies, the Original Tall in Bright Coral! How gorgeous are these?

I had been eyeing up the Bright Coral colour for months on the Hunter website, but I didn’t want to pay the retail price for them. I saw them go in the sale just after Christmas and I was tempted by them, but at that point I never had enough to purchase them. I was super excited when one of my friends (Andy) gave me a Hunter gift card to get the wellies as a Christmas present. It was truly so kind! I’m so glad that I ended up getting this pair because the colour is amazing. It’s almost like a neon, highlighter pen orange that glows, but it’s definitely coral and coral used to be my favourite colour! I had a bit of spare money left, so I managed to get the Hunter Bright Coral Umbrella to match the wellies, and how cool is it? That was in the sale too since Bright Coral was a seasonal colour.

So this is the outfit I decided to wear my Bright Coral Hunters with. I Chose my Hudson Barbara Skinny Jeans in Bazooka, a grey t-shirt, a Warehouse checked cardigan, and a Coral scarf that I picked up in the sale for about £7 online. I think this is close to being one of my favourite outfits featuring rain boots that I have had. As it was raining a lot, I did have my yellow rain coat on me, but I wanted just coral for the photos, to really show off the wellies. Aren’t they amazing? I know a lot of you have been waiting for this outfit for a while since I revealed these beauties on my social media, so here it finally is.

There’s a funny story to go with this outfit too. I was in Sainsbury’s (a British supermarket) and a guy was by me, lingering around, then he finally asked me about my wellies. He said they looked amazing and where did I get them from. I noticed that he was wearing leopard print wellies himself, so I complimented his too. He hadn’t heard of Hunter before and asked to look at my wellies, so I held my leg up, but then he asked if he can check my wellies inside to see how sturdy they were and if they would be suitable for festivals. So there I was, with one welly on and one off, in Sainsbury’s, while this guy was examining them and he even put his hand inside them. It was the most strangest experience! I was wondering if he was putting something inside them, stealing them etc. but it just seemed that he really liked them. He said thanks and quickly hurried off, but I was wondering if some type of fetish was involved there, ha ha.

Other than that, these wellies have received a lot of compliments from everyone for their colour. They are in my top 2 (along with Loganberry) pairs of rain boots now, and I’ve worn them numerous times. I’m so thankful to Andy for making it possible to buy them, and you will be seeing these often on my social media. The pink and orange hue they have is stunning. So what do you all think of my Hunter Bright Coral Wellies and Umbrella with this outfit? I’m so glad the scarf matched perfectly as well, that was luck! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

What I Was Wearing:
Cardigan – Warehouse (similar)
Jeans – Hudson
Wellies – Hunter
Umbrella – Hunter
Scarf – Scarf Room

Yes, Lorna!! Finally the hunter outift. I have waited so long, it looks so amazing. Such a cool colour, love the red. The outfit is so well-matched. Just perfect and so sexy with the jeans. It really inspires me to order hunter boots too. I have also two new outfits. Is it ok that I send you some pictures of them? One of them is pretty daring.

Hi, thank you so much! Glad you like it after the wait. The colour is actually much more orange with hints of pink than it is red, there’s no red in them. It’s gorgeous! And yes, you’re welcome to show me!

I´ve heard a lot good things about the hunter boots, but I don´t have one. The price makes me always resist a buy. And I don´t havy any pair of rain boots. But I always wanted some.

Oooh! Those wellies are beautiful! I’ve always wanted a red pair of Hunter wellies, but now I might have to rethink that. These coral ones are so fun. Your umbrella is adorable too! Haha, and I enjoyed your story! I hope he was just interested in the quality of boots too! 🙂

Loooved your outfit, your wellies are amazing, the colour is really great – bright color, so beautitul, and so good that you managed to find the umbrella in the same tone! You look great, a beautiful outfit for a rainy day! Yay, such a strange situation – at Sainsbury’s and a guy asking to check your wellies on the inside, and then you were with one foot on, one off… and it is really weird, but well, nice that nothing worse happened! I hope you have a very beautiful weekend!

That’s a funny story!! While I’ve received compliments on my Hunters, no one has ever asked me to take them off for a look inside LOL.

Being from the Seattle area, I feel the same way about my rain boots…they get a lot of use here as well!

Although I’m a minimalist and only wear neutral colors, I admire your beautiful collection. This is a beautiful color!

    Hi Lorna!

What a beautiful outfit for rainy days! Those Hunters are absolutely stunning, the colour is really wonderful! What a great addition to your collectioni – for you it must get constanty harder to choose the “wellies of the day” 😉

The story in the Supermarket is some kind of special in deed. But I think this guy would not endanger or harm you – he must have beent just fascinated from your wellies. I maybe wouldn’t have the courage appeal such a beautiful lady in such wonderful boots … 😉

To me it habbend such a story more or less the other way. I once met a lady in a nice rainy-day-outfit on a bus stop. I complimentet her about her outfit an wellies and asked her some questions about her wellies. She wore Viking Champion in black which I’ve never seen in reality before and I was wondering where she got them from and if they were comfortable – they ware much cheaper then Hunters but also made of natural rubber. She answerd my questions kindly and explained many things about her wellies so we talked for a while. Then she suddenly (without the least insistion or request from me) she took of one wellie and presented it to me. She asked me to check the inside of her boot and the inner sole, because she found them so comfortable. I was really suprised at first and didn’t know what to do. Then she repeated “come on, check it out” with a bright smile, while she was standing there with one wellie on and balancing the other leg, just with jeans and socks in the air, Holding the other wellie angainst me. I then found out, that Viking wellies are a high quality wellie brand too.

Oh, just another question: How do you store all your welies? Do you have a separate room in your house or al closet/rack? Do you keep them in the box?

    Greetings, Thomas

That’s really funny that it happened the other way around! How crazy! She must really like the wellies a lot to want to show them to you without you asking. Are you going to get a pair? I hope you got her number too, ha ha.

I store mine in various places. I actually don’t have a spare room or anything. I have some of them in their boxes, but most of them are out of the boxes, stood up against the wall in different places, so I don’t keep them all together. I don’t have a space big enough to keep them all together unfortunately. I’m really glad you like this colour though!

      • Thomas
        February 16, 2017 / 2:36 pm

Oh yes it was very funny! Well, she really seemed to like them a lot ;-). She was full of commendation about her wellies and cofessed several times that they were so comfortable. Well I have three pairs of Hunters and one of Aigle Parcours so I’m equipped with wellies …Or am I not in your opinion? Howmany wellies should a man have though, what do you think?

Unfortunately I suddelny after that happend found out that the model Champion was no longer profuced from Viking and was replaced by another model. But Viking Welleis would be a real alternativ to Hunters if looking for a high quality boot who has an elegant appearance and not a very fashionable boot.

Well I’didnt ask for her number because I’m happily married ;-). But as if it was heavily raining this day she mentionenned that I maybe have learned my lesson and get me some wellies. After I told her that I already had several pairs she answerd, a little reproachful but with a smile: “so why on earth aren’t you wearing your boots then? Get your welleis out!”.

So your wellies serve also as a nice room decoration issue! 🙂 I bet they also do a very good job thereby. This must look great. Do your visitors sometimes leava a comment about all them wellies around? Has already someone wanted to try a pair of them on? Well with that many wellies it is not easy to have a space for them alone.for sure.

Oh I didn’t know you were married, well that’s good you didn’t ask for her number then. I think three pairs of wellies is above average for guys, usually it’s just one pair they have, so I’m sure you’re equipped. Do you have blue, green, and black? 🙂

          • Thomas
            February 18, 2017 / 2:32 pm

Oh Lorna, you’re absolutely right!! How did you know? Do you have some kind of magic cristal ball for clairvoyance? 🙂 Yes, I have one pair of Hunter Original Tall in blue (once made in Scotland, what a Quality), one Tall adjustable in black (from maybe the first generation made in China – you can feel the difference in quality though …), one pair of short Hunters in black (the model for men with the laces on the shaft – I think improved in quality) and a pair of Aigel Parcours in green (I like them for longer walks in the countryside, they are the better choice for this kind of use, but not so elegant for urban use). Well here in Switzerland I think most of men do not even have one pair. Maybe some very cheap ones for the gardening e.g. if they ever have one, except they need some in good quality für hunting, fishing or professional use. Unfortunately wellies are not a fashion item at all. Nevertheless I get some surprised and jealous looks when I keep my feet and Pants dry in rainy wether by wearing my wellies in a fashonable context downtown 🙂 Would you like it if men wore more wellies downtown as a fashionable item?

A lot of men here do wear wellies to town, but I live in the countryside and am surrounded by farmers etc, which also gets worn in town as a fashionable item as well. Rain coats and wellies, or wellies and blazers with jeans, that’s quite popular.

I thought you would have those colours as green, blue, and black are very common colours for men to own. I have noticed a huge difference in quality of Hunters too over the years. I still think my navy blue gloss are the best quality.

              • Thomas
                February 25, 2017 / 6:17 am

That’s interesting to hear! You must live in a very nice region, when wearing wellies is also common and fashionable for men too! Maybe I have to think about a change of residence … 😉 I wish this would be more common here – but this way I’m still more exclusive an more envied by men and women with wet feet for my wellies :-).

You’re right, black, green and blue are very common colors for mens wellies. Wearing them in some kind of pink or orange would make it even more exclusive ;-). I already thought about some in military red, which I like very much, that this would be suitable for men too with the right outfit combination. While red is actually so much in fashion. What do you think about that?

But maybe my next pair will be some in grey/graphite.

Do you think that the qualitiy of Hunters is still getting worse? My first ones sitll must have been made in scotland. They have just the plain cotton lining without any pattern, just the small stamp whith the producers name and where you can insert your name and phone number. So they must be from 2003 or older. The material is some kind of thiker but gives more comfort and stability while walking. My next ones are from 2008/9 and do have this beige patternd lining with the emblem for the provider of the royal court inside. They surely were made in China. The material is thinner, the cut of the foot part is smaller and the boot gives less support while walking. I don’t give them that much use but I’m sure that if I would do so they will start cracking soon. My short ones are the youngest and I think that the material is more solid and the comfort is also better. I thought that with the launch of the Norris Field Collection Hunter was starting to go “back to the roots” with the primary mixture of rubber for making their wellies. It’s well-known that the mixture and the quality of rubber has changed as the production was tranferred to China due to financial aspects. Do you think, that with the Norris Field collecition something has improved?

At least it is no secret, that the Hunter company in Dumfries went bankrupt due to their quality of boots which was too good! Even the beginning of Hunter Boots beeing fashionable and producing them in more colors then green, blue and black at the beginning of this century, the quality was still so good that one pair lastet for decades even when heavily used. So there was no need for buying another pair soon. You can often read statements nowadays like “my old Hunters served me faithful for more then 30 years in almost daily use – my new ones just got broken after less then one year”. So I understand people who need their wellies for professional or daily use when they are angry about wellies in this quality for this price and go for another brand.

By the way, did you ever hear about the Hunter Ridley model? They look almost like the former Regent ones. There must be some Special collections around which are never published on the Hunter Website …

                Have a nice Weekend!
                Greetings Thomas

                  Hi Thomas,

Sorry it took me a while to reply, your comment was very in depth and I didn’t have any time until now.

I’m not hugely familiar with Hunter boots pre-2012 to be honest. My very first pair that I got was in January 2013, so they would have been a 2012 model, so I can’t comment on any of the others prior to that. I know from my pairs though that the Navy GLoss I got then were definitely the best quality as they started to change the softness of the rubber and design of the boot a couple of years after. The Norris Field ones are definitely very comfortable and soft for walking, I like them a lot. They’re not very stiff though. I find the newer wellies to bend and crease a lot with your leg movements, where as my Navy ones were more sturdy.

In regards to red, I have a male friend who loves red, blue, pink, purple etc in wellies, but it’s whether or not you have the confidence to wear them. I wouldn’t say it’s a nice, nice area where I am, but it’s the country and farming land so it’s very common for wellies to be worn due to the way of living.

I’ve heard a lot of complaints on the Hunter Twitter account too actually about broken, snapped, ripped wellies which shouldn’t happen, so maybe I would take it up with Hunter if yours broke? That’s such a shame! They shouldn’t do that if you pay so much for them! I only seem to really like the Original Tall, the Norris Field, and the new slim Original Refined (not tried those yet though), but the next wellies on my list are Slate Grey short ones too!

Wow you’re an absolute vision Lorna! I love the bright coral shade of these fabulous wellies! They look lovely with your scarf and oversized brolly! That’s incredible what a bargain the scarf was, as it looks very refined and much more expensive! This bright coral shade would cheer anyone up, despite the rainiest of weather. I can see why these wellies would be a talking point and conversation starter! It’s great you were able to get them due to your friend’s generosity.

    Lots of love Saba xx
