An Outfit For The Summer Rain
Since it’s been raining a lot of the time, pretty much on and off for three weeks straight now, this has been one of my go to outfits. I tend not to take many photos of my outfits in the rain (unless I have new wellies) as it’s usually the same thing over and over, however it was getting to the point that Adam and I hadn’t shot any new photos in a couple of weeks, which just wouldn’t do. Since this is a look I have been wearing so much of, I thought why not share it with you? You all come here to see what what I’m wearing and if a rain outfit is what I’ve been wearing, then that’s what I will show you. So be prepared, this one is nothing special, more of a casual necessity, but if you’re in the UK, you might find inspiration with it.
So what was I wearing? I chose the base as a simple t-shirt and jeans, opting for my Hudson Barbara Skinny Jeans in Hideaway with my H&M White Tee. Since it’s warmer out and doesn’t require a lot of layers, I’m living in my Joules Go Lightly Packaway Parka in Pool Blue Spot here, which I bought quite a few months ago in the store when it was new in. I saw the print on it and thought it was just gorgeous! So much fun to brighten up a wet and dull day. Now for my footwear, obviously wellies are needed, but it’s too hot to wear my full length ones and they aren’t needed when it’s just drizzle, so I chose my Joules Wellibob Ankle Rain Boots in Dog Print, which look really good when you cuff your jeans and wear them cropped.
I’ve been into Joules clothing for quite a while now actually, I tend to wear most of their clothes for my off duty wardrobe, if you can call it that. It’s comfortable and casual and for my birthday I actually went on a bit of a shopping spree there, which I can share with you soon actually if you want to see a new purchases haul. I’m usually a size 8-10 in their clothes, but I took this Go Lightly Packaway Parka in a size 6 as they tend to run a little bit bigger. I wanted it more fitted so that I could wear it with just simple t-shirts underneath as I have lined raincoats for colder days. This raincoat and my Berry Coast one, which you saw when I posted my Salisbury Cathedral photos, are two of my most used ones, along with my Petit Bateau Yellow Raincoat, so I really have a colour and style for each occasion.
I know I often speak about the weather, which is a classic Brit trait, but I do like it when it rains in the summer sometimes because the effect it creates on the floor can be so pretty. It creates a mirrored and glossy appearance, and when you find areas with flowers in full bloom, it brings a whole different vibe to the photos, like with these. Since I was wearing a whole combination of blue and white in my outfit, standing among the beautiful flowers really does give it some more life and vibrancy. Have any of you tried any Joules raincoats? They have a whole Right as Rain collection which I often find myself viewing weekly! Comment and let me know what you think of my rain outfit and if you like the Wellibobs too! What do you wear when it’s wet outside?

I really pray for some rain to cool things off a little bit here in SF. I love your casual look Lorna. Looks like we both are showing casual looks. Lovely color on you too by the way. Enjoy the new week.

Thank you, Idu! Really glad you like it! And I hope you get some rain too!
We got some long-overdue rain the last couple of days. And that parka is just *too* cute.

Thank you, Charles! By the way, I tried to load your site and it just gives me a white screen, it’s been doing that for a few days now. Any ideas? Doesn’t matter which browser I try either.
We had to restart the server after a particularly egregious out-of-memory error; you’re probably getting a cached copy of the blank page it started dishing up.
What usually works for me in this situation is to flush DNS — how to do this varies with one’s operating system — and then forcing a reload.

Oh ok, that makes sense! I will wait for it to clear then!
Great outfit Lorna! I like the classic simplicity of the jeans and white shirt added with the great blue parka. It gives the outfit a cool vibe! In my humble opinion, one can never have too much blue!

Ha ha, well being the denim lovers that we are, blue should technically be our favourite colour!
Haha! Yes, that is very true! 🙂

It is 😀
That is a fantastic outfit for a rainy Summer day!

Thank you, Nancy!
This summer’s bizarre menu of hot temperatures and heavy rain showers (often on the same day or even at the same time) is making it so hard to decide what to wear… it has me baffled really so, unless it’s already raining when I go out, I just dress for a normal summer day and hope for the best. 😉
You’ve judged it perfectly though. I think this is a really nice compromise outfit for the present conditions. You’ll get neither too hot nor too wet. 🙂 The parka and the boots are both cute and fun items, the jeans are gorgeous and everything comes together really nicely.
An outfit in which you can make a real splash! 😉 😀

Thank you! Funnily enough, if it is too hot then I do start to sweat since the rain mac is plastic! You can’t breath through it, but that’s ok. Really happy you like all the blues though! It is definitely hard to dress for hot rain!
This post is awesome! Love your rainboots, Lorna. You look super cute!
Thanks for the inspiration!
Have a wonderful week!

Wow Lorna, what a coll set of photos. You look amazing in this outfit, you know how much a fan I am of wellies. Well, the wellybobs are so cute on you. I love the photos with the flowers, they make you stand out such rich colours.
Yesterday I arrived in Bristol for my holiday to Cardiff and I was raining the whole time, but then I thought of your post and I wished I had some rainboots too, haha. Luckily, the sun is shining today so I am off to the Doctor Who Experience.
Have a wonderful day and stay amazing.

Oh you will love the Dr. Who Experience! I did that myself last year I think it was, or maybe it was the year before, not sure, but it was great! Enjoy your rain, ha ha.
Well, I sure did Lorna! I even flew the Tardis, haha. What an amazing experience, I went all out in the gift shop though. It was so sunny in Cardiff, hardly any rain on Tuesday and Wednesday.

That’s really lucky it was sunny! I didn’t buy much in the gift shop when I went, just a notebook and key ring!
Adorable outfit and I want your boots ! 🙂

Thank you 🙂 You should get some!

These images are lovely Lorna, and I especially love the pictures of you among the flowers! They look so vibrant and you really stand out among them. As for the raincoat, it’s gorgeous and very you, with the deep blue tones. I never knew there was such a thing as Wellibobs until I read this post! They look fantastic and I adore the cute dog print!
