The Shirt Underneath The Jumper Outfit
The classic white shirt underneath a smart jumper/sweater has been a look that I have favoured for years. It’s always been one that never really worked that well for me though and that’s mostly due to having a larger chest so the shirt wouldn’t button all the way to the top, or feeling really uncomfortable and restricted in that kind of layering. When I saw this Oasis Grey Jumper Over Shirt combination though, I thought it was perfect! I actually bought it back in April or May after contemplating it, and it just so happened to fit perfectly, have a great length, and is actually really flattering as well as comfortable. It’s basically just a lightweight grey knitted jumper with a white collar and shirt tails sewn into it, so it’s just one top, creating the illusion that it’s two. Ideal right? That’s why I’ve called it the lazy way!
Since this jumper and shirt situation is smart, I wanted to style it in a dressed up way, but with a little bit of a casual element so it doesn’t look like I’m headed to the office. I chose my PAIGE Hoxton Crop Skinny Jeans in Evenlina (they’re super comfortable!) and then opted for my RAYE Grey Heels, to complement the jumper. I didn’t know which route to take with my accessories, so Adam suggest the Chanel Wallet on Chain, however I was hesitant at first as I thought I wanted some colour, but it turns out the only colour I needed was the blue from the jeans and that was just right. I then wore my RADO Open Heart Skeleton Watch again (you can tell I love it!) just to finish it all off. I do like how everything turned out in the end and I think it would be suitable for work (depending on the dress code) as well as day time wear.
Since we shot these photos a couple of weeks ago, it was actually incredibly windy and getting the shots in-between my hair looking like it had come through a bush was tricky! Luckily about 6 photos were salvageable for this outfit post, but the outtakes were not, ha ha. The elements are always tricky when you want to do your outfit shoots! If it’s not the wind, it’s the glaring sun, if it’s not the sun, it’s the low lighting, if it’s not the lighting, it’s the rain… As you can see, it goes on like that. The perfect location is often an impossible one to find! Anyway, do let me know what you think of this smarter outfit of mine, whether you’re a fashion blogger or just a reader! Lorna xx.

I admit, I looked at that top for several minutes with “Is that one garment or two?” on my mind. And once I decided, it finally occurred to me to read the article.
I was, of course, wrong. 🙂

I really like faux layered pieces like this! I have a shirt/cardigan combo that you’ve made me remember and now I realise I’m not sure where it is – sadly it hasn’t been worn this winter and it’s already spring here!
I’m lucky the spot I use for my outfit photos every day is fairly sheltered, but the sunlight can be tricky in summer. My photos also aren’t as professional as yours, taken by myself with a tripod haha!
Hope you have had a great weekend! 🙂

I love it when jumpers come with shirts underneath – especially because it means you don’t have to keep on pulling the shirt down underneath when it rides up, haha. You look lovely!

It didn’t even occur to me that the top wasn’t two separate items. I was quite surprised when I read that bit. 🙂 It looks terrific anyway. That’s such a gentle and light shade of grey and the little spot details on the “shirt” part of it are cute. 🙂 These jeans are so lovely too.
I think it’s always cool and interesting to see jeans integrated into a smart or semi-formal outfit as I think they usually work far better in such a context than a lot of people might imagine – and this is no exception. A brilliant combination. 😀
Great set of photos – even though the wind restricted your choice of what shots to use it didn’t. at least, impact upon the quality of what you were left with. These are all really nice shots and I especially like the 3rd one where the wind is just a little in evidence in your hair and is giving the shot a hint of movement. 🙂

It’s very cool and unique isn’t it? I loved the light shade of grey too as I thought it was delicate enough to work with the little dot details on the shirt too, so good eye! It’s even better that it’s an all in one 🙂
I think jeans, especially blue ones (not just black) can always been dressed up, but then I might be biased with my love of denim. I do think a denim jacket is harder to achieve a smart look with though, the usually light blue ones are too casual, but jeans are always a winner!
And I’m glad you liked the photos and the way they turned out, the wind was a nightmare that day! I think I was standing in the same sport for about 10 minutes waiting for it to go calm and then as soon as we took a photo, it started back up! Lol 😀
You might be biased about denim (which is a good thing to be) – but I agree with you totally on dressing up jeans. From my male perspective the route I tend to go down with that is jeans, formal shirt and smart waistcoat. That’s one of my favourite looks to wear around autumn or spring when it’s good weather for long sleeves but not cold enough to need a coat or jacket. 🙂

I love that kind of look too 😀 The waistcoat on a smart which with some nice fitting jeans is a really good one! It can also be considered casual sometimes, so it’s a win, win!
Lorna you look so elegant in this outfit. I love the way you’re wearing one top which looks like two, so you wouldn’t have to worry about ironing an entire shirt to get the effect of wearing one! It’s lovely how you accessorised the outfit with your Chanel bag and blue jeans, so it doesn’t look like typical work wear and has a high fashion edge. I also love the bird earrings I’ve been seeing lately in your outfit posts. They suit you a lot! Well done on capturing these images. I would never have guessed you were battling the elements during this photo shoot, as you look so serene!
Lots of love Saba xx

Oh thank you so much! Those bird earrings are swallows from Azendi! I’m not sure if they’re still available as they were from a while ago, but I seem to keep them in all the time as I love them. Really happy you love the entire outfit! xx.
I love how beautifully you’ve paired the shirt with the sweater. Super chic outfit, Lorna!

I’ve been a lover of the shirt under jumper look for a long time. For me the casual to business vibe is so unbeatable. You look divine all the same despite the weather. It feels good to know that I’m not the only one experiencing winds and sun in my part of the world.
