The Topshop Floral Tapestry Jacquard Pini Dress

Topshop Floral Tapestry Jacquard Pini Dress Outfit

When I first saw this Topshop Floral Tapestry Jacquard Pini Dress on their website, I knew that I had to style it! The colours were what drew me in, but the 70’s style print just added to that and made it such a beautiful piece to look at. I ordered it along with the Topshop Fine Knit Funnel Top that the model was wearing, so that I could wear this retro combination together, but when it arrived in person, I loved it even more than I had anticipated! It’s definitely designed to be worn over knitwear as it’s too low and the material is too thick to be worn without one, so it doesn’t sit right on the chest region, but over knitwear like this – it’s perfect!

When it came to the styling, I didn’t know if I wanted to go with some thigh high boots and make it even more vintage and 70’s inspired, or try and make the tapestry print a bit more modern. I went with the latter option and wore it with my Jimmy Choo Melba Boots and then finished it off with my Mulberry Lily Bag in Oak. I think the browns worked quite nicely with the colours in the floral print, so it’s a completely different type of outfit for me, but one that I love very much. So much so that I’m publishing these photos just a couple of days after shooting them and I usually have a few weeks turnaround instead! What do you think of the tapestry print? Do you love the style of dress too?

I did want to mention the Mulberry Lily Bag though, I’m shocked to see how much the price has gone up on this one! I remember when I bought mine years ago and it was under £400, but the price of it now is almost £800! That’s a huge increase and one that I certainly wouldn’t be willing to pay again knowing what they used to cost, so as alternatives to this bag, I would check out Michael Kors as they do some really pretty tan bags like the Selma, or I would look at A.P.C. Half Moon, those are cool too! Since the boots are quite pricey and out of stock as well (they’re years old too), I would take a gander at Kendall + Kylie or at Kurt Geiger as they have some great styles. I definitely recommend the funnel top and the jacquard tapestry dress though (shop just below), they’re very affordable! I took a size UK 10 in both and they fit really well, not too tight or too small. Lorna xx.

What I Was Wearing:
Dress – Topshop
Top – Topshop
Boots – Jimmy Choo
Bag – Mulberry

Wow this dress is a real stunner Lorna! I adore the tapestry effect! There’s something so dreamy and nostalgic about it, and the print is just beautiful. I love the way you styled it, and the backdrop you’ve used for the images. You look incredible as always!

    Lots of love Saba xx

It’s lovely. 🙂 Especially in the close up shots where more the details become evident. From a distance the pattern looks more delicate and serene but close up it seems that there’s a lot going on. It would be interesting to see how it would look with other tops too so long as they didn’t distract from the pattern. I can imagine it working well with very pale green or very pale pink knitwear too.

Whatever this location is, by the way, you look like you own the place in these shots. 😀 Great turnaround for just 2 days to get this prepared and published – I’m pleased to see that the high winds didn’t totally confine you. 🙂

Luckily we shot them on Friday, before the storm came in. We were well prepared and changed the schedule around for that reason, ha ha! Saturday was terrible so we didn’t even go out at all.

Really happy you love the look though, Steven 🙂 It’s definitely a gorgeous dress! The pattern is intricate and beautiful up close and in person it’s even better!

You styled this dress to perfection! Love it! And wow, that’s crazy how much your bag increased in price! I didn’t think companies could increase their prices by that much. Jeez. But thank you for sharing some alternatives! 🙂

This look, I swear, dates to about 1966. The colours are pure Carnaby Street, and the hemline, if not exactly mini, is satisfyingly high. Had I any skill at Photoshop, I’d try to paste this outfit onto the young Cilla Black. You may take pride in having hit upon a truly timeless look. 🙂

I’m a huge fan of our precious Cilla, she will forever be remembered as a style icon and an amazing person 🙂 So I definitely do take that as a huge compliment. Thank you, Charles!

I would comment on your blog, but I’m still having issues with it showing up a white page and nothing more.

Oh I love the vintage vibe of this with the turtleneck and jacquard print on your dress! 🙂 You’re right though, the accessories do make it modern, yet still classic.

I had no idea the Mulberry Lily bag was so expensive now, wow! I am going to treasure the one I have even more!

Hope you’re having a lovely week so far. Another nice warm spring day here, although they say the rain will be back soon 🙁

I love how you styled it! And I love those cute boots! 🙂

800 quid for the bag.. holy smokes! 400 is already pushing it.. even if it looks really nice! 🙂

( I consider and measure all my purchases in weeks of snowboarding trips in the Alps. And with the current price of that bag.. I could go for 2 weeks! 😛 )
