A Cosy Snow Day Outfit
Out of nowhere, it snowed the past weekend. I thought Spring had finally come as it was warming up, hitting temperatures of 12 and Storm Emma was long gone, but then everything took a turn for the worst, became sub zero and coated us all in heavy snow for the weekend. No sooner had it came, it left, melting pretty quickly and leaving no trace of it behind. I think this last year is the most I have spoken about the weather in all my blogging years, and coming from someone who is British, that’s a pretty big deal since it’s all we usually discuss. Total madness! Luckily this time, Adam was here, so we managed to get a couple of photo shoots done in the snow!
For this look, it was a spur of the moment outfit as I wasn’t prepared for anything, but I quite like how cosy it turned out to be. I opted for my Zara Aviator Coat (which you’ve seen 4 times now!) and layered it with my James Jeans Black Skinny Jeans, which I then tucked into my Ted & Muffy Blade Over The Knee Boots (seen here). I finished it off with a Topshop Grey Scarf and an Urban Outfitters Beanie, topped off with a red lip. I will say that the hat and scarf are new here, but I purchased them for a steal in the sale! The scarf was £6.50 and the hat was £5, so that’s a bargain! Everything else is re-worn and I’m still enjoying styling the items I have in my wardrobe.
Even though it’s really cold and bitter, there’s something about the snow that’s so peaceful and magical. Everything usually goes really quiet, there’s no cars on the road… it’s just very relaxing. Of course when snow covers everything it lands on, it ends up looking beautiful too, anything that was dirty or tatty to begin with is now covered with crystals so it just shines. There’s one thing I like doing though and that’s looking out the window at night because even though it’s pitch black, it’s bright and you can see everywhere, even out to the horizon because the snow lights it up. It’s a really special thing, and I love it for short periods of time, so I’m glad it cleared up quickly. Anyway, what do you think of the outfit and the snow photo shoot? These might be some of my favourite photos of 2018 so far! Lorna xx.

Looks like you got as much snow as we did. And this look is spot on for a very late winter look. Yes snow can be peaceful. i just feel bad for the stray cats we feed.

I fully understand you there, I worry for the animals too, in fact it’s what gives me the most anxiety when the snow or bad weather comes xx.
It is a perfect cosy outfit for the snow! I love how the black pops against the white. I really like seeing snow photos like this, as there’s no chance of me ever recreating anything similar here as it never snows, haha! 🙂 So I agree these are beautiful photos too!
Hope you are having a great week and have a lovely weekend ahead!

I like that jacket, I don’t know if I have told you that yet or if I just say it out loud to myself whenever I see a pic of you in it. Its great. Sorry about the snow, I know everyone wants the Spring weather to just arrive already… It’s currently snowing here too so I am with you on it. I am putting my winter boots away though, I absolutely refuse to wear them now that it is officially NOT winter! It is time for Spring, warm weather and pretty prints whether the weather cooperates or not!

Love your cozy outfit! Love the jacket with the belt detail on the bottom. Spring is coming and going here. Over the past few weeks, it’s been nice (in the 30s and 40s during the week) and then when the weekend comes, we get a snow storm. I’m sick of this snow.

These are really cute photos Lorna. You look great with your beautiful coat and beanie! I love the style of your jacket and the color is nice. It’ll go with anything! The snow looks so gorgeous too! We never saw snow this past year and few months because it was warm in our neck of the woods until recently when it started hailing. So it’s nice to see it because it is pretty.

Hi Lorna! A really wonderful outfit, you look so adorable! The overknee boots are very nice, but I think, some dark colored wellies with fleece inline socks or shearling insoles (do you know them? they are so great and comfortable in cold and warm weather!) would have been the better choice out in the snow 😉
Greetings Thomas

It might have been a better choice for the snow for sure, but not as stylish I don’t think 🙂
Beautiful outfit, love those winter vibes 🙂

They’re certainly a terrific set of photographs and I love the simplicity of the colour palette that the weather conditions and your outfit have generated. The landscape is both bleak and beautiful at the same time… it’s like Narnia really. 🙂
The greys and blacks that you’ve chosen to wear here look so striking against the snow. Those boots and jeans are an especially gorgeous match up. I love the scarf too and, of course, the hat which looks so cosy. Then there’s the one flash of bright colour in your lipstick which, I think, is the absolute perfect finishing touch to the look and to the photographs. 😀
I hear rumours of more snow over Easter… I hope not… It’s pretty on the first day but that’s all and I don’t want it messing up another family gathering like it did for my dad’s birthday… Oh well, we’ll get what we’re given. 🙂
Author
I actually edited the background a lot to be more bleak, it was not nice before, quite yellow and orange with the branches so it didn’t suit the snow, so I took the colour out, ha ha 🙂 Suits it much better! Really glad you love the look though, I went with the pop of the lipstick as I thought it would stand out, so I am glad you noticed!
Well in that case then I must also compliment you on your editing skills. 🙂 You’ve done a terrific job on these photos.
Author
Thank you, Steven 🙂 I do spend hours editing, ha ha.
Wow, Lorna. What a good outfit for the snowy days.
Your coat and boots look so good in the snow, just perfect. Snow is fun, but it is enough for now. I just bought myself some new shoes today to enjoy the spring that’s coming up.
