It’s been a little while since I gave you a life update and filled you in on the things that have been going on, so I thought I would take some time out from my usual schedule and write this post. The last personal post I wrote was on my Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Life Hacks and I am pleased to report that it’s been one of my most viewed articles every day, and has been shared by the EDS community since it went live, having amassed over 8,500 views in 2 months, which I am so pleased about. I genuinely hope it’s helping some of you with symptoms, and thank you so much for the support.
• So, where am I at? I started my physiotherapy sessions a couple of weeks ago and have been to two sessions so far, as well as doing at home exercises. I was extremely nervous at first and deeply concerned about exercising due to such bad experiences in the past with the chronic fatigue, but as I’m working with an experienced trainer for hypermobility, the exercises I am doing are strengthening ones which are targeting specific joints, so the hope is that over the months my muscles will start getting stronger and keep my joints from subluxing and causing pain. I’m getting on with it ok, but it’s really tough, I wont lie, and some of the exercises are quite difficult, but it’s all new to me and I’m still learning, but so far so good. I’m determined to help myself in every way possible.
• My eating hasn’t been so good either lately, but the last week I have been sticking to healthy food again. I am still completely gluten free as I have to be, but when I say it hasn’t been good, I mean I’ve been craving a lot of chocolate and as I started doing homemade gluten free baking, the cakes have been hard to resist too, but I’m since back on the bandwagon of eating at least 6 vegetables a day and I’m feeling a lot better already, so I’m hoping that combined with my physiotherapy will be a great combination as my body is not its best at the moment.
• You might have also noticed that since my birthday (6 weeks ago) I’ve been on a shopping ban pretty much. I spent way too much before, so I’ve been keeping everything else on a wish list and haven’t purchased a single thing, until Friday when I got a couple of new bras from Victoria Secret. In my defense, I hadn’t bought a new one in 18 months which was shocking, so it was much needed! Other than that, there’s nothing new to report, but I’m hoping to pick up a couple new things soon for Autumn as I can’t go an Autumn season without some new coats/jumpers – it’s impossible! Of course this will go on my IG stories when I do, for your opinions!
• Speaking of Autumn though, I am genuinely looking forward to it. After the looooong Summer, I’m ready for cosy jumpers, over the knee boots, lots of denim, cute hats, the orange hue of the leaves, hot chocolate, movie nights… It’s my favourite season and I can’t wait! Who else loves it as much as I do? It’s the best season there is in my opinion. As soon as I start smelling that crisp cold air, I’m excited and start coming to life (if you remember this blog post from before).
• I am also getting a tattoo at some point. I’ve been figuring out where I want the placement as it’s a toss up between three different locations, and narrowing down what I wanted as well has been the toughest of them all because I have so many ideas. I’m excited, but nervous, and it will only be small, so I will keep you all informed on that one and can’t wait to share it when I get it!
• Finally, this is actually a big one and it’s coming soon in a separate post, but I have a huge announcement to tell you at the end of this month on the 30th, and it’s going to mean some changes and somewhat of an exciting new adventure I guess, but scary at the same time. I’ve re-read that and it sounds like I am pregnant – I am not. It’s something else, but it requires quite a dedicated blog post, so definitely check back on the 30th as it’s something you will want to know.
Anyway, I hope you’re all well and thank you as always for reading. Lorna xx.

Yes! I love chunky knits!
Wow that is quite the response. The exercising sounds challenging but worth it. Ugh my eating habits have been sooooo bad. I need to get back on track when I get back from Paris and everything settles down.
I have been thinking of trying the $90/month RTR sub–4 designer pieces a month. I went to the store in NY and was blow away by the selection.

I’ve not heard of that system, but it sounds cool. Hopefully you can get the eating back on track!
I was trying to reply to your blog post before this one, but the comment box wasn’t showing up. Anyway, it is really nice to come across your blog! I love the life update! I can’t wait to see what tattoo you get! 😀

Check back! xx.
Lorna I’m so pleased you are starting to improve. When you say exercise is difficult does that mean It hurts or is it just the position required.
It’s sad so many have viewed your blog but it just shows have many people suffer as you do, I think more people who know about the problems perhaps more can be done to help. As for tattoos, I’m not a lover but that’s probably an age thing.
Lorna, you love to tease don’t you. Can’t wait to see what you have to surprise 😲 us with, are bells involved? Look after yourself Lorna and take care of each other.

Hi Norman,
Regarding the exercise, it just hurts because my muscles and joints are so out of the loop, so I get tired quite quickly and get painful leg muscles, but I know that will get better in time.
And nope, no bells, it’s not a personal event or anything. No wedding, ha ha 🙂
Glad that things are all going quite well for you! Good luck with your shopping ban too! I want to cool off my shopping for the rest of the year but with some events coming up and sales I know I’ll want to buy, haha!
Your news sounds exciting – maybe it’s something big like a house?!
Hope you’re having a good week 🙂

I know what you mean about the shopping, it’s so hard right now with all the items!
And no, not a house, I can’t afford one of those, ha ha 😀
Dear Lorna, how wonderful your post is that successful. All the best to you!

Thank you, Rena!
Hello Lorna! Your post is sincere and open-minded as is always the case when you give an update on your personal life, but what really grabbed me was “I‘m determined to help myself in every way possible…” Oh, boy, this is good, thumbs up! Most definitely! And I‘m sure you’ll succeed in that.
My favorite season is, well, from April to the middle of June, something like spring-early summer I guess. I usually associate autumn with depressive raindrops …oh-oh… this was by no means deliberate ha ha. Sooorry! Out of curiosity though, maybe you indeed (subconsciously?) named your site the way you did because you love autumn? Actually, rainfalls would be most welcome now after this dry summer…
Anyways, when I wrote my post about your birthday I kind of sliiiiightly (oh, not the wavy red underline again ☺) hinted at something that, having read your current post, now I’m pretty much convinced starts happening: big good things are heading your way, beautiful Lorna.
Off the record: I appreciate if you could recommend a software for web design (apple compatible) – for a site where I can upload mainly landscape photographs. Thank you in advance.

Hi Steven, I actually did name it raindrops because I live in the UK and I love rain, as you probably figured, so it was named that on purpose 🙂 I thought sapphire rain would look beautiful.
I’m not getting married if that’s what you’re referring to though? I know you mentioned you got married in that comment, but that’s not what it is for me, it’s work related, so not necessarily good or bad, but a big change.
I would recommend signing up to WordPress.com and having a free blog, you can upload your photos to a photography blog that way and choose themes etc. Thanks for your comment! 🙂
Hello again Lorna, I’m exploring the site you mentioned at the moment, looks like the right one for me, thank you very much, I definitely didn’t know it.
Anyways, I’ll try to be concise at least now 🙂 I meant your physiotherapy and the big change you mention in the last part of your post: regardless of its nature, it seems to be of great value to you…Thank you once again for you quick and valuable response.

Autumn is my favourite season too. 🙂 Mind you, living my new nocturnal existence, I won’t notice the difference between the seasons as much now as I won’t see that much daylight. 😉 Having said that though, autumn is definitely the best season for clothes both in terms of what I can wear and seeing all the great looks that everyone else is wearing – and I am especially looking forward to seeing what you have to show us.
I think 6 vegetables per day is really impressive. I don’t achieve that very often myself. With so many vegetables in your diet I am sure you can feel relaxed and not guilty about baking as many cakes as you want to. Hey, you can even combine them. I sometimes make beetroot buns. They are a bit messy to prepare but very tasty. 🙂
I admire your determination over the exercise regime. Well done.
Author
Thank you, Steven 🙂 Can’t say I would be a fan of beetroot in anything as I don’t like the stuff, lol! But I could put some currants and things! Hopefully you can get some daylight though and don’t have to have that job forever!
I see daylight at weekends… but even then I skip mornings to try to regulate my sleep pattern. Funnily enough, I am not a beetroot fan either – I don’t like it as a salad veg but it’s very sweet and sugary in cakes. 😀

In that case I might need to give that a go 😀
I’d be happy to give you the recipe if you ever fancy it. 🙂
