The Cambridge Satchel Small Emily Bag Outfit
Trying to shoot photos this weekend just gone was a nightmare, ha ha. The wind was so strong that it took us twice as long to do these photos and most of them were unusable, due to my hair, and even though it’s still wild in some of these shots, they’re the best of the bunch, otherwise I was going to give up entirely! I wanted to keep going though as I wanted to share with you my new bag!
This is The Cambridge Satchel Company Small Emily Bag in French Grey Celtic Grain. I received this from the brand a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely love it! The Emily is their brand new design to celebrate the brand’s 10th birthday, and it’s named after the young woman who inspired the company. The Emily comes in numerous sizes, but the Small Emily is the perfect work wear handbag for the smart, sophisticated woman. It’s a small secure tote bag with a twist lock and an inside pocket to safely store important documents, while being big enough to hold a tablet, phone and water bottle. It also comes with an adjustable shoulder strap, so you can wear it hands free.
Of course I have had my Emily embossed with my initials (I love monogramming! It’s also free for a limited time only if you want your initials too!) so it’s made it completely unique to me. If you want more details on the bag though, it’s 100% leather, made in Great Britain, and this particular size is similar to my Celine Micro Belt Bag, but it’s 13.5″ by 8.5″ in width and height, making it ideal for me. I wore it around all day and the twist lock closure was super easy to use, plus the bag actually looks smart enough for evening as much as it looks casual for a day of shopping. I hope it becomes one of their classics in the collection!
For my outfit, I decided to style the bag with my REISS Somerset Trench Coat, a simple Topshop Roll Neck Top, my PAIGE Margot Black Skinny Crop Jeans (I wore these before with my Topshop teddy coat) and a pair of my Rebecca Minkoff Mika Mules. Since The Cambridge Satchel Company designed the Emily tote as a bag for work and play, I thought I would stye it with an outfit like this that combines both fun and smart elements. The trench coat is perfect for work wear, while the jeans have a fun, playful hemline. It works with both! I also have on a pair of earrings that I want to share with you, so keep scrolling down to see those, I think you’re going to really like them!
How amazing is this location for shooting the bag too? I thought it looked perfect here and it gave off such a lovely Autumn vibe with the orange and green hues in the background.
And these are the earrings I was just talking about. They’re from Dower & Hall and they’re called the 18ct Rose Gold Vermeil Amethyst, Aquamarine & Pink Tourmaline Twinkle Trio Studs. Aren’t they just beautiful? Such a lovely gift to receive from the brand. They’re from the brand’s Twinkle range, with 3mm stones, and are sterling silver underneath with an 18ct rose gold vermeil finish, making them truly stunning. I shared them on my Instagram stories a few days ago and a lot of you fell in love with them as much as I did, so stay tuned for something special coming up with Dower & Hall! I thought these earrings would make the perfect accompaniment for the outfit overall. Anyway, what do you think? Do you like the entire look? Lorna xx.

Ah yes shooting in winter and or rain is a challenge for sure. I had a “professional” shoot in Paris and it was awful. The photographer shot me in at 11:00 am in direct sunlight. Awful. Though your bag is quite elegant so nice! Love it with the trench. Hope you were not too cold.

I had that too in Italy, midday sun on a roof top lol, it was so bad I couldn’t barely keep my eyes open!
This is such a fab look on you Lorna! One of the reasons why I love trench coat is that, you just can’t go wrong with it. It can easily elevate the look of a simple tee and denim combo. Also, chic mules too.

Thanks! Glad you like them! He always does a good job, and I do the editing. We take each others.
I honestly can’t remember the last time the wind blew my hair about… 😉 Seriously though, the wind is no problem as it adds a bit of extra movement to the shots both in your hair and in the coat too. It’s a great autumn look with totally authentic and unpredictable autumn weather. 🙂
The earrings are certainly very pretty – nice mix of colours.
