The Burgundy Duster Coat And Suede Skirt
I’ve been trying to write this blog post for quite a few days and I’ve just been sat here this week with serious writers block. My mind has just been blank anytime I’ve tried to write something, which is really unusual for me actually as my words usually just flow. The only thing I can think to do right now is just describe where we took the photos, and that was in a new location called Cavendish Road here in Bath. It’s a really fancy street next to the golf course, and turned out to be beautiful for photos. We shot them last month and I thought this outfit was ideal for the scenery around me.
I was wearing a Coast Burgundy Duster Coat that I got in the sale last month after eyeing it up for over 5 weeks. I patiently waited for a price reduction, then another drop, so I got it for a steal! I layered it over my Topshop funnel neck top, and paired it with an old Lucca faux suede skirt. I did try it with my Gucci GG belt around the middle, but it was too much so I took it off. To finish it off, I wore my DUO brown suede boots to the knee, my Mulberry Small Darley bag in Oak, and my Swarovski Remix bracelets made into a necklace. I wasn’t sure on this outfit at first as you know I don’t like my knees, and boots that sit below can often highlight that area for me, so I had to make sure I was only using flattering angles or covering them up, ha ha.
Autumnal colours, if you haven’t already guessed, are my thing. I really love the rich tones of brown, taupe, burgundy and anything deep like this, so this outfit combination I’m really fond of. I thought a smaller bag was the way to go too to not overwhelm things. Speaking of which though, I have been eyeing up the new Rebecca Minkoff bags which I think would be so cute for the festive month. Funnily enough though, there’s actually no new designer bags I’m saving for, or shoes, so I’m looking around at the smaller brands at the moment. Have you got a new bag? And with that, it looks like my writers block has gone because I just started writing anything, ha ha. Of course, do let me know what you think of the outfit as always. Lorna xx.
What I Was Wearing:
Coat – Coast
Top – Topshop
Skirt – Lucca (similar)
Boots – DUO (similar)
Bag – Mulberry
Necklace – Swarovski Remix

I love this long coat. Just warm enough for the weather in your corner of country, not for here. 🙂 The long boots are really my type.

This is a great look if I may say so. I really like your skirt, it looks great paired with boots. Lovely duster coat as well. Autumn colours suit you. I love Autumn colours too, it’s definitely a gorgeous season with a beautiful colour palette.
If you’re not looking for a typical designer bag, why not look up for those made by artisans or small business owners, local small time designers and so on? There should be a wide choice of such bags on etsy and other similar sites. You can find unique bags that way and also help someone’s small business (which is always great in this day and time because small businesses and brands often struggle). When I buy bags for my girlfriends, I usually look for such hand made items.

Thank you! Glad you like it, Autumnal colours are so rich!
And I’m not really sure what I’m looking for to be honest, but I did just buy some handmade earrings on etsy the other day, so I do support small businesses too!
Dear, this coat is perfect!

Oh, lovely outfit! The first word that immediately came into my head was “elegance”. The cost is fabulous and I’m guessing we’ll be seeing more of it in future outfits?
The richness of all these autumnal colours in this outfit is bringing some fiery warmth to the season. Great look.
I’m curious as to why you decided the belt was too much for the outfit? Was it distracting attention from other elements of the ensemble or did it just look out of place?
Author
You definitely will be seeing it more, but at the moment it’s too cold, so I’m thinking Spring might be the next time at this rate, ha ha! It is so pretty though isn’t it?
The belt was too busy and too overwhelming I think. It looked off in the photos and quite out of place, making it more distracting than seamless, so it looked much sleeker without it. Funny how one item can make or break an outfit isn’t it?
Loved this. I too have a similar coat. Love to dress it up for work or dress it down.
