A Horse Coin Blouse With A Corduroy Skirt
Happy Thursday! It’s really starting to feel like Spring isn’t it? I’m seeing all of the crocuses and blossoms appearing, which is exciting! After Autumn, Spring is my favourite time of year, so I can’t get enough of the beautiful blooms that will be gracing our eyes very soon – I’ve got some exciting photoshoots planned with the scenery too, so hopefully those go to plan.
For this outfit, I wore a new Topshop Horse Coin Shirt that I bought last week, which I styled with my Topshop Corduroy Beige Skirt, finished off with my Gucci GG Belt. To keep with the theme of neutral and brown/beige, I went with my Jimmy Choo Romy Heels in Brown and my Mulberry Small Darley in Oak, as I think all of these shades complement each other really well.
I wouldn’t usually wear a shirt like this as it’s designed with a neck tie to have a pussy bow at the collar, but I never wear my shirts buttoned all the way to the top as I find it to be unflattering on me, so I went for an open button with the tie hanging down, which I think gave it a much more casual appearance and I like that. The corduroy fabric of the skirt is toned down too making it even more casual, but dressing these pieces up with the accessories brings it together and makes it formal as well, giving it a more versatile vibe.
I wanted to keep this blog post a bit shorter this time as I’ve been super busy this week, especially yesterday as I was at IKEA picking up all the things I need for my room renovation, which I can’t wait to share with you either, but it might be a few weeks yet before it’s finished. Overall though, I think the outfit does the talking itself as there’s not much more I can say about it, other than the fact that I think this horse coin shirt is incredibly cool and you will be seeing it again soon! As always, what’s your opinion of this look? Do you like it? Have a wonderful weekend! Lorna xx.

Thank you 🙂
This outfit has such a vintage vibe to it – maybe it’s the style of blouse with the cord, maybe it’s the colours (the brown and cream work so nicely together) either way it’s lovely on you!
Hope that your week is going well and you have a nice weekend ahead of you 🙂

Thank you, Mica! I felt the same, reminds me a lot of the 70’s, but more modern. Glad you like it! 🙂
Topshop really has a lot of great things. I like their selection of bags/purses.

Topshop has amazing pieces and this blouse is no exception! It’s a unique print and the color is beautiful. It’s a timeless one and works for any time of the year. Love those! I can’t wait to see your room renovation once it’s done. Sounds like things are underway? Happy Friday Lorna and wishing you and Adam both a fabulous weekend!

Thank you, Maureen! They do have some amazing pieces, especially when it comes to blouses and shirts, most of my quirky printed ones are Topshop. And yep, it’s underway! Got a lot done this weekend so I should be able to share more on it next month!
The whole look is beyond beautiful, Lorna! Love all the warm shades and colours. How gorgeous are those heels though! it’s going to be a while until I can wear a pair but they are so on my list of “treat yourself’ <3

Such a cute shirt. 🙂 I think you’re right to wear it without the bow thing done up as that would make it look maybe too officey (not a real word but, hey…) to wear with that lovely skirt. This whole colour scheme suits you really well, I think. 🙂

Thank you, Steven 🙂 I’m glad you like it! It’s lovely to have you commenting again too 🙂
Thanks. 🙂 I meant to catch up last week while I was on holiday but time ran away… So now I’m catching up a little today while off work ill. LOL
Author
Oh no! I hope you feel better soon! Being ill is no fun 🙁
Thanks. I had a migraine which lasted a day and a half. It’s gone now but I’m having another day off tomorrow just to catch up on my sleep and get my energy back. 🙂
Author
That’s the worst, I hate them! I take magnesium now though everyday and it’s seemed to help a lot as I was getting a few a week. Do you get them often? 🙂
I used to… but it’s been well over a year since I last did so this one was a bit of a nasty surprise. 🙁
Author
Well hopefully it doesn’t happen again anytime soon 🙂
Wowww….what a super classy and stunning all in one look. I’m totally love it.
I can’t wait of the spring has to arrive, as here in Germany have a fantastic weather too in the couple of day.

Wow Lorna, I have the feeling that you needed something like a viewer guidance disclaimer for this post: Viewing this post may cause genuine exclamations or reduce your speech abilities to using open vowels only… 🙂
That said, I honestly think that this and the one from „Faux Fur Coat with a corduroy skirt“ are your best outfits so far for this year. It just looks so…proper!!! Perfectly matching colours, stylish clothing, not a single piece that confronts the composition regarding colours or model or purpose. I have the impression that something guides my eyes starting from your hair and face down to the shirt, the skirt and the shoes. To be honest, I was wondering why the blouse is called this way until I saw the horse heads clearly on the last photo, maybe because I again was perceiving the outfit as a whole!
You are just soooo talented, beautiful Lorna!
Once again a big WOW! I just cannot help it!

Oh thank you so much, Steven 🙂 You really do like the brown and cream tones together don’t you? The two you liked the most are very similar in their vintage vibe with an almost identical colour palette! I’m so glad you like it all though, thank you! It’s always nice to read your comments as I can see just how much you appreciate it all. It’s a pretty cool shirt isn’t it with the horses heads inside the coins?
You are welcome Lorna and yes you totally got me, you simply hit the bull’s eye. These tones are one my favourite, especially if they are combined in such a way. And your blond hair matches them very well as well. I think that too vivid colours are (or may be) somewhat distractive and may draw too much attention at the expense of the face. And I always consider the human face and the person in general as the main and most important „component“ in such photos…clothing should only “complete” a person, not “substitute” him/her. OK, now I classified you as a component ha ha LOL! But I guess you know what I mean.
About the horses and the shirt: I like the way they are scattered all over the fabric, gives kind of a subtle „wild“ feeling to it 🙂 But I also like its design.
Author
Ha ha, I totally get what you mean, don’t worry! I think you’re right, I guess that’s why neutrals are so popular! 😀
I wouldn’t change a thing about that look: it’s just about perfect.
