The French Connection Red Wrap Dress
For those of you who saw my trip to Clarks Village blog post, you will remember this Red Wrap Dress that I picked up from French Connection as it seemed to be the star piece of the day! Of course I decided to style it the day after as we were amidst a heat wave, so it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time – it was meant to be! Honestly, I couldn’t wait to wear the dress, and I was excited to see how I wanted to style it for the first outing. I went with my Jimmy Choo Melba Boots and my Gucci Marmont Velvet Mini Bag in Black, as I think red and black together are really striking. I also chose my Ray-Ban Round Double Bridge Mirrored Sunglasses, and a gold watch. I of course matched a bold red lip to the dress as well, as it wouldn’t be complete without that.
My favourite thing about this French Connection Red Dress is the colour and print of it. I’m always a fan of a wrap dress as I find them extremely flattering to an hourglass silhouette, and the bold, ruffle sleeves really help to hide your upper arms if your conscious about them. The deep neckline is really pretty, which coupled with the length of the dress is really modest. I cant fault it really! I’m usually a size UK 8 – 10 in my clothes, sometimes a 6, however I had to take a size UK 12 in this French Connection dress as it ran a bit smaller around the chest area and I didn’t want it to be tight fitting. The size 10 fitted, but it pulled and I know if I’m going to be wearing this in the heat, I wont want it tight at all. That’s something I have come to learn over the years, I always prefer tighter pieces for a better fit, but I usually don’t feel comfortable, so now I often size up so that I wear the clothes more than I would if I didn’t. Maybe that’s common with age?
Anyway, I’m going to keep this short about the dress as I think the photos really do the talking for themselves. The intense, warm and subtle pink shade of red that this dress has, with the white floral print is just stunning. I still have it hanging up on the front of my wardrobe as I can’t stop admiring its beauty. I’m so glad that I found it at Clarks Village! It’s probably still in stock there at the French Connection outlet, so if you love it too, it might be worth a trip down! Please do let me know what you think of this dress and how I styled it in the comments below! Lorna xx.
P.S. – I finally got my tattoo this weekend! The next blog post will be about it, so definitely check back on the 9th to find out all about it and see what I got! It’s exciting!

Something about wrap dresses always seems to get my attention. Still not sure why. But this one does look great on you.
Author
Thank you! I think it’s the way it draws the attention to the waist?
I think you’re right: you’ve never been lacking in curvature, but this dress does call attention to it without exaggeration.

Yes, you’re so right about the red lip, the look wouldn’t have been completed without it. The red lip really completes this look and it looks beautiful on you. This red wrap dress is so perfect. I like how you styled it with those lovely boots and the Gucci bag.

It’s a very bold and beautiful dress – I like it very much. 😉 Whatever the vagaries of sizing it certainly looks like you’ve got the correct size anyway. 🙂 The boots are so cute with it! (Yes, I’m actually noticing footwear!). 😀 I’m also rather taken with your watch too… I love simple but elegant watches like that. 🙂

Thank you, Steven! I’m so glad you love it! I wasn’t sure if I even liked the boots with it in the end, so it’s good to know I made the right choice there. Really happy you like it!
Interesting that you were unsure of the boots. I think they’re certainly a bold choice but work so well. What alternative footwear were you considering for the outfit? 🙂

I was trying to figure out some type of wedges or something, lol 😀
