A September Life Update – Hello Autumn

Hey everyone! I’m back with an update as I didn’t do one last month, so this one is a bit bigger! I can’t believe that it’s Autumn now, officially, it’s scary just how fast this year is actually going. October is right around the corner and then it will soon be Christmas again and a brand new year. It’s crazy! I’m sure the time speeds up as we get older, ha ha. Anyway, September has been quite a busy month for me already, so I’m here to share some new things with you!

The music I have currently been listening to is country again, I adore my country music, and two of my favourite songs on my Spotify are ‘Straight Outta Cold Beer – Blake Shelton’ and ‘Dirt On My Boots – Jon Pardi’ so I recommend those! They have some great grit to them. In regards to movies, I’ve watched a few, Bohemian Rhapsody I finally saw, it was good, and I’ve watched a few Netflix Originals, but nothing there worth pointing out, however the series, definitely. I finished all seasons of Working Moms and I absolutely recommend that! It’s brilliant!

P.S. – I want to point out that Shopbop also have a sale right now! Use the code STOCKUP19 for 20% off orders under $500 and 25% off orders over $500. Includes full price and sale items! It’s valid until Saturday 28th, so you don’t have long left to shop!

Now, something else huge… I got 2 new tattoos! As you can see in the above 2 photos, I have 2 brand new artwork pieces and I am in love with them! It was really lucky actually as the artist I had loved for a long while, Daniel Torocsik was doing a guest spot over here in England for a few days, and Adam and I both got in with him! So on Thursday last week, we headed to London, all the way to South City Market, to have our tattoos done by Daniel (check out his Instagram here) who is a realism/abstract tattoo artist and absolutely incredible! He’s not coming back to the UK until next year though, so I will have to book in with him again when I find out his dates!

So the first one I had done was the text that read ‘open your mind’ and this is relevant to me to reflect on my struggles with anxiety. As you know, I’ve had anxiety for most of my life and it’s held me back from doing most things, however this year I have really pushed my boundaries and gone outside my comfort zone more times than I thought possible (see this post here). Even taking a trip to London, an hour long Uber, going into a tattoo studio where I knew nobody etc. is all something I never thought I would have ever done, in my entire life, so the term open your mind is to keep me focused on looking at things differently, letting the control go a bit, opening my mind to new situations and not automatically assuming I can’t do something, pushing through those barriers. The Lioness doesn’t mean anything too specific, but I love cats and the feline family, and I am a Leo star sign, so it fitted. I’m planning to get a male lion on the left wrist and have some abstract dots and lines connecting them.

In terms of pain and having them done, I will say the text on my arm hurt the most. It wasn’t so bad that I couldn’t handle it, but certain parts stung quite a bit, which I think is because the skin is sensitive there. The lioness took about 90 minutes or so, and was only a little bit sore. Some areas were worse than others, but overall it wasn’t that bad. The healing of it was actually the most annoying, I mean obviously it’s still healing now as it’s peeling, but I mean the red sun burn feeling for the couple of days after, and moving my wrist was a bit sore, ha ha. It doesn’t put me off getting another though! Watch my story highlights for tattoos on my Instagram here, you can see me getting it done.

So above is Adam’s tattoo. He went first and it took just over 2 hours to have this one. It’s one of Daniel’s original designs with a rose and swirling lines. Doesn’t really have a meaning behind it, but Adam absolutely loves it and so do I, I think it’s really cool!

These are some iPhone shots of a look I wore a couple of weeks ago, but we didn’t shoot any outfit photos professionally of it. So I thought I would just share these here with you. If you follow me on Instagram (@LornaRaindrops) you will get to see a lot of outfits I don’t share here. The leggings are a Vinyl pair by Commando and they’re so hot! Buy them here.

A swimsuit shot that I actually forgot to share from my holiday in June!

I’m into scenery photography a lot more recently too, and I thought these steps were stunning!

Mine and Adam’s food at Wagamama! One of our favourite spots to eat!

These are my new favourite boots! They are from Topshop and are called Mercy (buy them here) and I am literally obsessed with them! I’m really into the more country style shoes at the moment, especially when they have an edge to them like this, that country rock star vibe. I wore them all day on Saturday and they were surprisingly comfortable! Do you like them?

This was a beautiful sunset I saw outside of South City Market in London. The colours on it are just incredible, aren’t they? Such a warming hue!

This is just a selfie I took last month.

The left shot is the Royal Crescent in Bath, the right is the River Avon in Bristol.

Some different foods we have had. The first is lemon sorbet, the bottom left is a chicken, bacon and avocado burger, the right is Italian pizzas. So delicious!

A beautiful shot of a London street. I do think parts of London are stunning.

Some black and white shadow play on the right, and a selfie on the left.

The Royal Victoria Park in the sunshine at the duck pond. Isn’t it lovely?

And finally a pair of Saint Laurent sunglasses that are new!

Anyway, I hope you have had a nice September. Have you been up to anything?

Looks like such a fun month! Both of your new tattoos are beautiful, I love the font on the script one, both are really nicely done but that’s my fave! Adam’s looks great too! 🙂

Those ankle boots look so good on you, I’m hoping the rain sets in soon so I can wear my ankle boots a a little longer, it’s been a very warm and dry spring so far!

Hope that your week is going well 🙂

Your tattoos look beautiful! They are so unique and special.

You also shared some wonderful photos. It looks/sounds like you had a good and eventful month.

I didn’t really do anything special in September, but I do have a trip coming up in October so that will be nice.

I’m so pleased to see that you had such a happy month. These are some lovely photos. 🙂 The vinyl leggings look amazing on you – or you in them. 😀 I notice the subtle colour differences between the 2 shots so I’m wondering which is closest to the natural colour?

The shadow photo is gorgeous! It’s so lovely when the sun throws a shadow that’s close to proportionate – they contain a surprisingly large amount of character. 🙂

I’m sorry that I’ve not dropped by in so long. Lorna. I’ve not being doing well lately with my depression and general mental health. Though I’m holding down my job OK I seem to fold up a lot of my days off and quite a lot of them, recently, have been spent just laying in bed under the safety of my duvet and doing nothing. I’ve found it hard to motivate myself to do any of the things I usually enjoy online or in real life. 🙁 Right now I’m feeling a little better as I have a week off work (which I’m determined not to waste) which allows me a bit of time to gather myself together.

Anyway, hopefully you know me well enough by now to know that I’d not vanish forever. 🙂 I will hopefully catch up on all I’ve missed here but it will take time – depression is such a vicious foe but I try to fight it openly because the more people who know how it is for me then the better is the understanding of the condition – and I know that you yourself also believe in openness about health issues so you’ll understand. I remain as supportive of you and your blog as always. x 🙂

Hi Steven! I would say the left is probably more accurate, they are a jet black vinyl, so just imagine pitch black PVC and you have the shade! I think it’s a standard material, but super dark and shiny! I love them! They just released a pair in burgundy, which I cannot wait to get! 😀

No worries on you being absent. Like you said, I believe in being open about mental health too and I know first hand how hard it can be sometimes, so I fully understand. You should message me on DM’s sometime, maybe the chatting will help a little. I know it does for me, just speaking to people, sometimes just sharing funny things to take your mind out of the hole it’s in. Remember you are strong, you’re a wonderful person, incredibly kind and supportive, which is rare to find. Believe in yourself, Steven, you have no reason not to 🙂

Thanks Lorna. 🙂 Yes, the only DMs I have are my Facebook and Instagram… I don’t get on Instagram much now because I find it quite painful due to memories that you’re aware of… but I’ll try and make a bit more effort to at least use the chat function more as it’d be nice to chat a bit more often. 🙂

I understand, I think a lot of time has passed now though so I think you’re definitely strong enough to go on Instagram 🙂 You’re a lot braver than you know, Steven! Trust me. You’re incredibly strong. You are the one in control of your life, nobody can take that away from you, only if you let them, so do whatever the heck you want to do 😀
