A Knitted Maxi Skirt With Snake Boots
I didn’t mean to take a full week off again, but life has been crazy the last week! I was in Bristol from Thursday to Sunday for a lot of Autumn shoots with Adam, then on Monday I was invited to the Last Christmas UK premiere in London, and a VIP Christmas lights switch on with Emma Thompson and Emilia Clarke on Tuesday. I got back super late on Tuesday night, rested a lot on Wednesday and caught up with a few things, and now today I’m back doing work. I plan on doing an update post on all of it with photos very soon, but for those of you who are interested, you can check out my highlight on Instagram (click here) to see all the videos!
This outfit is a look I wore to Bristol and we shot these photos in Queen Square, which is a really beautiful park area with lots of pretty buildings all around. It was pretty chilly, but not cold enough that I couldn’t wear a skirt and I had been wanting to wear my new The Mia Midi Skirt by L’Academie, which was gifted by Revolve Clothing, as it’s such a beautiful stretch knit, with a thicker material, so it’s perfect for the cooler weather, despite the split up the side. I wanted to make this outfit perfect for Autumn, which is why I styled the skirt with my Zara Knit in Cream, then finished it off with my Topshop Snake Print Boots and my brand new Celine Nano Luggage in Glazed Nut that I got in London.
Even though I put this outfit together on the spur of the moment, simply by putting the skirt on when I was getting changed and noticing that it went really well with the knitwear that I was already wearing. I then decided to add in the boots and thought it would look perfect with my new bag. I actually really love how the outfit turned out and would absolutely wear it again, 100%, as I think it’s beautiful and really embodies the essence of Autumn so much. What’s your opinion on it? I would love to know! Lorna xx.

Thank you so much, Ian! Yeah, I actually plan to wear this skirt with longer boots too for another look at some point. I think that will be really pretty! Glad you like the french tips too, I did it myself!
Great way to wear a maxi skirt in autumn! You know I love my maxi skirts! I don’t have a knitted one though, but our weather means it wouldn’t get much wear here sadly!
Hope that you have a great weekend ahead of you, after your hectic week It will be a quiet one here, we are all a little unwell and the smoke haze means we need to stay indoors mostly!

Thank you!
Wow that skirt looks so good on you! I wish I could wear skirts like that and thinner maxi dresses more often but I always have problems with my underwear digging into my soft butt and showing lines, but I cant wear thongs because my buns are way too jiggly without any support. Do you know of any good underwear for under tighter dresses and leggings that doesn’t cut in to the cheeks but also is able to firm up and hold in some jiggle? Any suggestions/help is much appreciated.

Thank you! Honestly finding the right underwear for these skirts is hard. I just have to go with a thong, or a long at the back sweater. The seamless ones always give me double butt cheeks as I have a soft butt too, but honestly I don’t mind the butt jiggle in a thong, I think it’s kind of sexy, ha ha. You’d probably have to go with a shapewear from Commando or Skims, like this:

Wow thank you for some good recommendations for my problem! I’ve always been really self conscious and insecure especially about my butt after working a sit down job for quite some time which really can take a toll, and now being busy with children i just haven’t had a consistent amount of time each day where i wasn’t exhausted that i could devote towards regular exercise, as I’ve only been able to do a bit here and there unfortunately. I’ve always had issues deciding what to wear under leggings for when I jog when its hard to wear longer shirts in the hot summer, and similar issues under different maxi skirts and dresses once sweater weather leaves with the snow. I’ve never really had shapewear before but I’d trust that these are pretty good and ill give them a try, plus I like the simplicity as they don’t look as complex as shapewear sometimes does. Im exited about trying the wide amount color options both of them have and I think I’ll get a bunch of both white, nude, and black colors for under different color skirts and ill try them under leggings and white jeans too. Thanks so much!

You’re welcome, Valerie! If you’ve never tried shapewear before, it takes some getting used to. It’s very restrictive and tight, but I own a pair of the Skims ones and they do lift your butt really well and firm everything up, they’re just restrictive. But in all honesty, our bodies are all different shapes and sizes, women are designed to be naturally jiggly. I used to think I needed to be really toned and firm too, until I met a guy who said the jiggly and softness is beautiful, and many other guys have said the same thing, as it’s feminine. So a jiggly butt is nothing at all to be ashamed of 🙂
Sorry for the long reply I’ve been rather busy this weekend but thank you so much for the kind words! They meant so much to me and made me feel better about my body and more comfortable about letting it all jiggle around around the house. I might get more comfortable out in public later, but until then for now I’ve ordered a few of the skims and im excited to try them once they come 🙂 I used to be worried when my underwear would cut into my butt and give me a muffin top on my butt or when I would wear like a thong or similar and letting my buns jiggle around that not only was it accentuating my loose booty but more that it was making me look careless or that I didn’t take care/excersize of my body when I just didn’t consistently have the time to keep myself firm. Your words have helped put things into perspective that I shouldn’t care about what other people might think about me nearly as much but rather I focus on thinking good things about myself. I still think that I shouldn’t just let people see the lines from my underwear because I don’t think everyone needs or wants to see my underwear lol, and I ordered a few different sizes of the skims to experiment with tightness so that it can tame some of the jiggle so its not so much of a distraction but leave just enough movement that its cute and sexy. Thank you so so much for recommending shapewear that you have experience with so I can wear things like maxis and leggings and rompers/jumpsuits more often and not be checking in a mirror to see how bad my pantylines are showing on my butt on a given day, and overall your words that have given me such a boost of self confidence! Your advice has been very beneficial but your encouragement has been priceless and that I’m most grateful for.

Thank you so much for those kind words! Seriously! That means a lot to me 🙂 Honestly, I used to be so self conscious of my body, so I know what it’s like to feel that way, but once you realise that you don’t need to be, it’s all in your head, and most people are too wrapped up in their own lives to even care or think anything of a stranger, you can be more free. Living without the confines of self criticism and worry is so wonderful. There’s a woman on Instagram I follow called @danaemercer and she shows what normal female bodies are like and she’s super successful. Check her out! And do keep in touch.
