Hey everyone! I said I would give you a little life update, and that’s what this post is! A lot of the restrictions have been lifted here in England now (thank goodness), so I’ve been able to do a lot more things with people, which has made the world of difference to my mental health. In all honesty, going through so much lock down and the constant restrictions on how we can live our lives has been one of the worst experiences for me, to the point where I’ve cried a lot from frustration. I’m always real with you guys and I just haven’t been coping all that well with it. I know I’m not alone and it’s worldwide, but when you’re separated from someone you love who’s in a different country, and you’re still not allowed to see them, it’s incredibly testing. You may be wondering what I’m talking about as I’ve kept my love life out of my blog, so I will explain a little bit below.
First up though, these are two different looks I wore for 4th of July! The first one is my Allsaints Elva leather jacket that I layered over my Ralph Lauren flag knit, paired with some black jeans and my Saint Laurent West Harness boots, finished off with a Brixton hat. I think it’s a much edgier way to style something patriotic to a country that I love so much. The other look below is a Ralph Lauren USA flag tee, with my Good American Good Waist jeans! I’m well aware that I am British, before you guys say anything, and yes I do know that Independence Day celebrates the American independence from the British, but that was almost 300 years ago, and I couldn’t love their country and people more! The guy I’m romantically interested in is American, and I’m going there soon, so I actually had a real reason to celebrate the 4th of July this year!
Celebrating 4th of July with Christen
Happy belated 4th of July to my lovely American readers! I had the best weekend last weekend, actually celebrating it like a true American, albeit via FaceTime unfortunately, but I had the best time that I could have, given the circumstances. The Saturday was spent at a festival, which I went to on FaceTime with Christen. I got to meet one of his work colleagues (Christen is a radio DJ) as his radio station were live covering the event. I got to see all the flags, all the food, what an American high school looks like, as well as hear the national anthem sang by Miss Ohio, and watch the fireworks! They lasted 30 minutes and were so cool! It was such a fun day!
Then on the Sunday, we celebrated with the same food, which was a cheeseburger, potato salad, and apple pie! I actually hadn’t eaten apple pie before, and it turns out that I love it, ha ha! Then we finished the evening with a movie! He and I always chat on FaceTime everyday, and we have been romantically interested in each other for a long while now. We’re getting frustrated with this travel ban still being in place right now and not allowing us to see each other. But I thought I would finally share a little bit about my personal life here with you. Let me know if you’re interested in more of our story! I can do a separate blog post on us.
As we had a little heatwave a few weeks ago, it was really nice to experience some Summer weather and actually go to the park for a picnic! I usually document all of these things on my Instagram account though, so if you’re not following me, check that out @LornaRaindrops. The pink bag featured just above is from House of Want as well. I picked it up for a really affordable price on Shopbop, as I wanted to give this new company a try!
Once the restrictions had lifted, I couldn’t wait to finally see my best friend, Kieran! We have known each other for years now and he lives a couple of hours away, but we met for lunch a while ago and it was so nice to actually socialise and be with friends. I hadn’t seen anybody in person for so long. I hadn’t actually seen Kieran since Summer 2019! And yes, I am short. Ha ha.
I started a new Instagram account called @FordLaFemme and it’s for my photography. I love sharing arty photography that I shoot, especially in black and white, so I have a brand new page for those type of photos that I love taking. It’s also more of an edgier, rock kind of vibe. Which is my true personal style mostly, but I mix it up with more feminine pieces a lot. I’d love for you to give it a follow!
These pics were shot from a family/friends dinner for my mum’s birthday! We ate at Prezzo and they have an amazing gluten free menu that I love, so it worked out nicely. I had gluten free garlic bread, a chicken, bacon, avocado salad, and then finished it off with some raspberry sorbet. It was a fun evening!
Now above are a few new purchases. I have the Sam Edelman Yaro Sandals and they’re gorgeous! I probably could have sized down to a 8.5 though as they run a bit big, but they’re pretty comfortable! Then I have a pair of MOTHER The Tomcat Kick Fray Shorts and I’m enjoying those as a cute pair of denim shorts to wear! The grey wash is more unique and I love that. Then finally… isn’t she gorgeous? This is my brand new Coach Leather Biker Jacket and I am obsessed! I plan to share more with this jacket soon, but for now, you can enjoy this hanging shot of her beauty! Christen also has the same one!
These were a pair of Custom Converse that I created online, designing everything on them, however the online photos looked much more muted and less bright, and in person, they’re a bit too bright. I think they look quite juvenile and clownish, so I’m debating returning them. What’s your opinion?
And finally, this was a shot that I had taken in my room as I’ve been working out a lot more and wanted to document progress, but it gave me a huge realisation. Normally I would be too embarrassed to post something like this here and show the absolute mess that is my room, but it hit home to me that I’ve let so much go in terms of cleaning and it’s out of control. Sharing this here with you means that I need to take care of it and start getting things in order now. Finally finish my room and have it exactly how I want it, but I keep being too lazy and would rather do other things. So I need to get actual motivation and make it happen! Lorna xx.

Thank you so much, John!
Your welcome. 🌹
I love those Converse! I don’t think they are too bright at all, they are really fun! I hope your travel ban is lifted soon. It’s unlikely our borders will be lifted until 2022 they are saying and it’s really hard for people to fly home with the caps being reduced again with Sydney’s recent outbreak and lockdown so I know lots of people are impacted by that 🙁 Hopefully because the US and UK are better with vaccinating people because you actually have vaccines you will see some improvements soon! we won’t get our vaccines until the end of the year 🙁
Hope you are having a good weekend 🙂 It’s another chilly winter day here!

Oh wow, you guys don’t have vaccines until the end of the year? That’s crazy! Yeah, everyone started getting vaccinated here in January I think! I really hope the situation gets more under control soon for you 🙁
Hi Lorna really happy you have met a new boy friend ( will meet ) once you can travel too the states later in the year . Thank you for your lovely comment, Ian! I’m still unsure on the Converse as they’re so bright, ha ha.
Glad you are doing so well. Hopefully you will be able to go to the US soon.

I really hope so!
Firstly, I know you’re still young but, seriously, how on earth did you get to your age without ever eating apple pie! It’s such a ubiquitous thing even here in the UK! LOL
I too have found all of the restrictions frustrating and stressful. Because I’ve still being going to work as normal right through the pandemic I’ve been living what’s felt like a life of two halves. Relative normality on work days but agonising isolation on my days off. 🙁 There have been exceptions… I formed a bubble with my parents so I was at least able to see them and even go and stay over with them from time to time. I even managed to meet up with friends now and them – but not very often and in restricted circumstances. Although I’m quite an introverted person who does need a fair bit of time alone there are limits and do enjoying seeing my friends. One of my closest friends lives just a mile from me across the city but I don’t think I’ve even seen her once a month on average during this.
I really feel for you with the international travel situation being what it is – especially as the US government thinks we’re all a massive risk to them now that we’re ending our internal restrictions. Hopefully things will work out sooner rather than later and you’ll be able to get to the USA and be with Christen. 🙂 I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.
Lastly, I absolutely love your US flag t-shirt outfit. I think the jeans that you’re wearing in those photos are one of the most gorgeous pairs I’ve ever seen you style yourself in. Just stunning. 🙂

Ha ha, I have always been an apple crumble kind of girl! I never really had any fruit pies. I tried the small Mr. Kipling apple pies in the silver foil, but they didn’t really taste great, so I never tried one again. I thought all apple pie tasted like that one, ha ha.
I’m so glad you like the jeans! And the flag t-shirt! Those jeans are pretty cool, they’re a new go to pair, but it’s so hot out now, I’m not really wearing them, ha ha 🙂
I’m sorry you’re struggling with the not seeing your friends, I mean I am introverted too, and I’m so thankful for Facetime and social media to connect with everyone, but it’s still tough!
Ah, I was brought up eating my mum’s homemade pies. I don’t think she ever allowed Mr Kipling any cupboard space at all. 😉
I agree with you about the weather – it’s certainly not the right climate of jeans. That’s a pity just as I’ve bought three new pairs. Aside from the Levi’s that I showed you and the other pair I told you about; I went back and bought a 3rd pair in the same fit. This time it was the colour “Pickles” (it must be a laugh of a job thinking up names for jeans colours). They’re actually a really gorgeous mid blue. I’ve only worn them to try them on do far but I can already tell they’ll be my new favourites when the weather cools. 🙂
