A Long Sleeve Satin Dress, A Blazer & Saint Laurent 5 A 7 Bag
It’s officially spring now and I’m excited to share with you a lot of different looks! You may have noticed that my posting schedule is now every 4 days, as I have so much that I want to write about. Since the new name change to Ford la femmes, and the re-launch of my new website, it’s given me a lot of inspiration and enthusiasm for ideas for content. It’s nice to feel inspired and excited again!
This is one of my latest spring outfits and it’s one that’s simple, dressy, elegant and muted. I was wearing this really pretty Abercrombie & Fitch Long Sleeve Satin Drapey Shirt Dress in Cream which I paired with my Reiss Black Blazer, and finished off with my Saint Laurent 5 A 7 Bag in Black and Sam Edelman Verity Crystal Heels in Black.
I took a size small in this dress and that’s generally my usual Abercrombie & Fitch size in dresses. I also own this dress in pink satin, as well as the cream satin, and it’s absolutely gorgeous! It’s a little more feminine than this one (see it here on Instagram) and I will be sharing it with you soon! The good thing about A&F is that they come in 3 different lengths, as well as sizes xxs up to xl.
This dress also features a wrap around style stitching at the waist, but it’s collared like a shirt with long sleeves. It’s a really unique design for a long sleeve satin dress and I think it’s really cool! I bought this with 25% off and they currently have that promotion running again at the moment! It comes in cream, pink, and black, and I recommended all three!

How I Wore It
You could absolutely wear this satin dress with the blazer worn correctly (as in arms through the sleeves), instead of draped on the shoulders like I did, to make it a little more formal, however I always feel that the shoulder drape just makes it that little bit more fashionable and effortless, while retaining the structure and elegance you were going for by adding on a blazer in the first place. I’m a huge fan of the shoulder throw on! It allows you to see the dress more and the sleeves, so it’s a perfect way to wear it.
Getting to my shoes, as I mentioned, these are the Sam Edelman Verity and I picked these up in the United States over the Christmas break. I wanted some cute little black kitten heels and the crystals just elevate these so much! I think they’re super cute, while remaining edgy because of the black suede. I adore these shoes and they are on sale at The Outnet here, so I can’t recommend them enough either! They run pretty true to size and are quite dainty with a lot of foot exposure.
Finally, moving to my Saint Laurent 5 A 7 bag, I think it’s the most classy and perfect bag to wear for an outfit like this. It’s one of the most gorgeous shoulder bags that you can ever own as it’s simple, elegant, minimal, and super stylish. I’ve always loved this bag and you might remember that from my Saint Laurent 5 A 7 bag review that I did last year when I purchased it.
How To Style A Long Sleeve Satin Dress
This long sleeve satin dress is simple enough to be dressed down a little more with flats and a less structured jacket, but also elevated enough to be dressed up with heels and a blazer. It’s a pretty versatile dress, but I wouldn’t say that it could be worn with sports shoes at all, in a super casual way, so definitely keep the other pieces that you pair with it elevated and elegant.
So as you can see, I’ve gone for the colour palette of neutral cream and black, with minimal pops of gold from jewellery and my YSL hardware. This type of colour palette literally suits everyone and every skintone actually. As I’m pretty pale, I decided to add in the black to make it pop more on my skin, but if you have darker skin, it will really stand out on its own! All of these shades are neutral too so it doesn’t matter if you lean heavily to warm or cool tones – these will work.
So here’s some tips to remember for styling a long sleeve satin dress:
- A satin dress should always be dressed up with heels (unless it’s a slip dress over a t-shirt with sneakers).
- If you want a blazer, layer it over the shoulders to give it a fashionable, effortless appeal.
- A structured, elegant shoulder bag or clutch is the perfect accompaniment.
- Opt for a satin dress that has a nipped in waist/shape to it that isn’t too short.
- Go for neutral colours for a elegant, simple look.
As always, please do let me know what you think of this satin dress outfit and how I styled it. I’m also interested to know how you would wear it and if you enjoy my ‘how to wear‘ series! Comment below.

Hey! They go up to size XL and have different lengths for petite and tall, but I don’t see it in plus size. What size are you looking for?
That’s a lovely dress on you and I really like the blazer with it!
Such a fun rebrand for your blog too, looking forward to seeing the more frequent posts you have planned!
