How to make a bathing suit part of your outfit
While you may be accustomed to wearing swimwear when you plan on spending time in the water or laying on the beach, there are ways that you can use it to create some brilliant outfits as well. By choosing your new bathing suit carefully, you may not only be able to get use out of it in water, but also throughout the rest of your day for a chic, casual outfit, or even a means to stay cool in the heat. I know sometimes you just want a day of wearing the least clothing possible to battle the heat, while still looking respectable. By casting off the idea that swimwear is only for use at the beach or pool, you may be able to open up a number of great opportunities. I know I’ve worn my swimwear as part of outfits before, especially on holiday!
Consider The Style
There are a number of styles of stunning bathing suits on offer which you may want to look into. These of course come in an array of colours, designs, and sizes, meaning you should be able to find something that meets your needs fairly easily. When you shop, you should always keep a few things in mind. One of these being whether or not you want to go for a one piece or a two piece set – I usually prefer a bikini.
If you have a larger chest, you might also want to consider the level of support you might need. Think about the style of bra you usually wear, whether or not it has underwire or padding etc., and pick a bikini top or swimsuit in a similar design. This will help support your chest and should accentuate your figure nicely. When it comes to choosing the bottom half of the swimwear, higher waisted is always incredibly flattering to everyone, but if you prefer something simple that doesn’t show much under clothes, a basic bikini bottom style is perfect. Always choose what you feel confident in though.
Pair with a simple summer dress
It can be incredibly frustrating, and embarrassing, to need to change in and out of swimwear, especially if you are pressed for time. Instead, you could make life easy for yourself by choosing a bathing suit that offers the same protection and coverage as your standard underwear. This means that you can put it on before you leave the house, and throw a gorgeous summer dress over the top. After swimming, you may then be free to allow yourself to dry a little, then put that same dress back on. This may be particularly useful if you plan to spend your day at a beach with no changing facilities but still want to look your best.
Mix and match
Should you wish to make a bit of a bolder statement, you could instead opt to leave your bathing suit on show as part of your outfit. By figuring out which colours look good together, you could pair your bathing suit with a classy skirt or some fancy shorts, allowing you to look ready for summer. This could involve matching colours, such as a black swimsuit top with a black skirt, or going for complete opposites, pairing a black swimsuit with some beige linen shorts (shown above). A belt really helps make this look chic! Finding the colours that look good on you, and that you feel comfortable wearing, could allow you to create an endless number of styles, especially if you have more than one bathing suit.
One of my own personal favourite looks is a pair of denim shorts thrown over my bikini, leaving the bikini top as a top, while finishing the look off with a kimono, some sandals, sunglasses and a floppy hat. I think this kind of look can look really cute as an outfit, but if you’re worried about the bikini top being too revealing, a simple cropped t-shirt will do the job! Just throw it over your two-piece with the shorts and you’re good to go. I do this all the time when heading to the pool in the summer.
A bathing suit doesn’t have to be used solely when in the water. By being creative, and ensuring you have a good fit, you could really bring some flair to your wardrobe. What are your thoughts on this?

I think a nice halter neck bikini top with shorts or a mini skirt looks really lovely.

Yeah, it can look really cute!
These are fun ideas! I usually pick a dress to throw over my bikini at the beach, but sometimes I do take shorts or a skirt so my bikini top becomes a top 🙂

Oh I’m glad you like the idea! 🙂
