Short Cowboy Boots With An Idyllwind Top

Hey everyone! Here are some photos that Christen and I shot while I was in Ohio. We headed down to one of our favourite nature spots to shoot these pictures on the bridge by the huge pond. I wanted some country vibes to go with this cowgirl style look, and this was perfect! Short of finding a hay bale and one of those wooden fences with red barns in the background, I think this was a great option.

I really miss my summertime out there as the weather in Ohio is beautiful. Not so much in the winter, it’s absolutely freezing, but during the warmer months it barely rains and it’s just a warm heat. Since there’s aircon everywhere, it’s really useful. Unlike here where I’m just sweating all the time with a fan, ha ha.

So getting to my outfit, this actually ended up being one of my favourite outfits while I was there. I headed into Boot Barn and saw this gorgeous Idyllwind Rose Printed Crop Top hanging on the hanger, and it was layered with this gorgeous Burgundy Bolero Style Necklace. It was the perfect pairing and it has Western vibes that I always gravitate towards in my heart, but don’t often wear here in England.

I ended up buying this top (remember it in this post?) in size XS and it’s gorgeous! It’s made of viscose and is stretchy, but the print and fit is what caught my eye! It’s too adorable! Then paired with the necklace, it’s even better! Moving onto my denim skirt, I picked this up in the sale at American Eagle! I’m a huge fan of denim skirts as you know, and this mini version is really cute. I got it for less than $10, so you can’t really go wrong with that! I ended up wearing it a lot with tees and sandals as well.

Now moving onto the star of this outfit – I finally have cowboy boots! I’ve always wanted a pair of cowboy boots and every time I go to the USA I can never bring a pair back because of my luggage being full. This time I made room for the cutest pair I have ever seen! Again, I saw them in Boot Barn and bought them in the store. They’re by Idyllwind again, and their the short version.

The brown leather is a gorgeous distressed shade, there’s little hand made marks all over them, and the stitching design is really nice too. I heard that cowboy boots should be made in certain countries for quality and Mexico is one of them. This particular pair of cowboy boots are made in Mexico, so that’s good!

I think the shorter shaft is really good for me personally. Being on the shorter side, the taller ones were just overwhelming and had too much going on below the knee, so these were the ones! They look just as good with skinny jeans as they do with skirts and shorts too, so you will be seeing these again in a cooler weather post for certain. I love this shot of them too – we can thank Christen for that one!

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to get size 39 or 40 in these cowboy boots. I ended up getting the 40 as after trying numerous pairs in different sizes, the 39’s kept being inconsistent and just too tight. This pair is a little bit big, but I plan to wear them with thicker socks, like these from Denim Star.

So this is the full look above, and it really gives me summertime cowgirl vibes. Out of interest, how many of you are fans of the country girl look? I’ve always been obsessed with country music and the whole cowboy/cowgirl look, but living in the UK, it’s not something I see much of. When I’m out in the USA, it’s very homely and I love seeing these looks around, although it’s mostly on the guys.
