Fresh, feminine and always pretty, pink is the forever favourite when it comes to finding that dreamy dress that makes you feel your absolute best. From hot fuchsia to the softest blossom, there are so many different types of tones out there when it comes to finding the pink that makes you feel your most fabulous and suits your skin tone and complexion.
Whether you’re attending a wedding, celebrating something special, perfecting your prom look or you simply want to take your evening wear collection to another level, one of these pink dress styles is going to be the perfect fit for you. Keep reading for your complete guide to perfecting pink dresses, and styling them like a professional!
Reflective rose gold
A rose gold dress is one of the most stunning choices you can make when it comes to pink event wear! This shade is irresistibly feminine and always chic, and when it is covered in shimmering sequins or reflective beading, it is immediately elevated to no end! You can choose a relaxed fit off the shoulder gown with full puff sleeves, a fitted waistline and a romantic, full swinging midi skirt for a beautiful look that is ideal for any special event on your calendar for an evening, or you can keep it more minimal and let the colour do the talking by choosing a fitted, strap sleeve number with a small train. Rose gold is one of those pinks that makes a bold statement – it’s stunning, and it’s different!

The sequinned mini
Want to strike a chord at cocktail hour or light up the dance floor at your next night out celebrating? A hot pink sequin mini dress is absolutely the way to go about it! Choose a chic cropped silhouette with delicate spaghetti straps and a V-neckline, enhanced with subtle cowl neck details. This will serve as the perfect canvas for oversized, glamorous pink sequins. This piece will bring so much energy and fun all on its own, it is a true statement-maker that is guaranteed to make your big moments even more special. I can just imagine the fun to be had in a hot pink dress like this!
Classic corsetry
If you want to opt for the side of understated yet elegant, then a classic cut evening gown is going to be the perfect fit for you. Choose a timeless gown with a sweetheart neckline, thin straps and a waist cinching corset which extends down to a floaty-yet-fitted mermaid cut skirt. A subtle sheeny pink peach hue will bring warmth and that extra touch of femininity to this fail-safe style.
The cut will never go out of style and it is a piece that you can get experimental with styling. Choose contrast garnet beaded accessories, amp up the tone with eye-catching pink earrings or opt for layers of delicate pearl jewellery – it’s a soft yet statement style that you are free to make your own. When you let your personality shine, you shine.
The prettiest petals
If you want to play into the romance that is a pink dress, then why not choose a dress defined with painterly florals, or decorated with dimensional textured flowers? Petals are the perfect way to play up the soft rose tone of your dress, plus, they’re always elegant and suit everybody.
This particular dress I have is a dusky rose tone pink that errs on the side of purple, but the dimensional flowers that are embellishing this dress make it stand out on a whole new level! There’s so much texture.
The Shirt Dress
If you prefer something a little more classy that’s suitable for a dinner or a more formal event, but you want to inject some colour into your attire, then a shirt dress might be the perfect option! Opt for satin or silk as the material to make it elegant, and make sure the sleeves are long, and the waist is fitted, as this will really help balance out the silhouette. There’s something easy going and tailored about a shirt dress, as it’s not too feminine or too masculine, and it’s not an evening gown either. It’s somewhere right in the middle of everything and pink just makes it pop!
Choosing The Right Shade Of Pink
Warm Undertones – If you have warm undertones in your skin (see how to find your undertone) which are usually more on the yellow side, then you can get away with wearing pinks that are on the warmer spectrum with peaches and more orange in them. Think salmon, peachy pink, and even bright fuchsia!
Cool Undertones – If you’re on the cooler side and you have more paler skin with pink undertones, you can opt for the pinks that are on the colder side which lean towards purple. Blush or dusky rose, mauve pinks etc.
Neutral Undertones – Now if you’re neutral, you can pretty much get away with any shade of pink as long as it’s not too bright or too pale. You’re somewhere in the middle!
Pale vs. Bold Pink – When it comes to skin colour, the bright pink shades tend to suit those with a more tanned or darker skin while the paler pinks will suit those with a lighter skin colour, like myself. Just be careful not to wash yourself out if it’s too pale!
